As somebody who is *not* a big fan of Taylor Swift, the various covers that have been done in musical styles which are more appealing to me have proven one thing--what a great songwriter she is. Even with these other bands putting their own spins on her songs, the original compositions still shine through, as of course do the lyrics. Very few musicians these days are as adept as she is in that art behind the art.
a big part of why her music adapts so well to heavier genres is because Taylor herself is a fan of heavy music. she just doesn't make her own heavy music lol.
Several years ago my friends and I went to an autograph signing WCAR was having at our local Tilly's in NC. While getting autographs Kyle and the others asked if we would be at the concert that night in Raleigh. We told them that we had been unable to grab tickets but hoped to find some when we got in the area from scalpers. The drummer Eric pulled out his pack of cigarettes and autographed it and told us to give it to security and that their staff would take care of us. It was an awesome night and still have the pack, photograph, and everything else from back then. So upset I never got to see them again before Kyle's passing
My favorite warped tour memory is WCAR playing this song and tossing an inflatable raft into the crowd and Kyle hopping on it to crowd surf. RIP Kyle! 😭
Since you are not the biggest fan of the screams a band i can recommend you check out is called "slaves" and i recommend their song "cursed" really awesome voice!
Personally I’m not a huge fan of Taylor Swift but she has a great voice and her songs slap but the punk/metal versions really make me appreciate her music more
for covers that are as good or better then the original i would recommend aurora "god is a woman" or "life on mars" but anything by aurora is great her live stuff like the US debut on the jimmy fallon show
