    Planting a couple of these this spring! I'm glad I only bought two if they're easy to propagate. Thanks for the tips!

      My pleasure Mulberry Farms. They are one of the easiest plants to propagate. All the best!

    Enjoyed the video! I picked up a goji berry last year during mark down season. That's the season that isn't officially on the calendar, but falls somewhere between fall and winter and happens in the nursery section of your local farm store. :P It's not quite big enough to worry about trimming yet, but now that I know I can, I will definitely be making sure to propagate this plant and give some away to family and friends!

    Hello Dan
    Thank you for the very informative video.
    I am in Norfolk in England & have 4 overgrown unpruned 5 year old goji bushes growing over a frame in all directions.
    It’s not flowered properly ever.Do they need a warm spring & hot summer to crop?
    Thanks

    Great video on maintenance. I just got a Goji berry plant after watching some of your videos and am curious what their water requirement is to get started and once established. I try to automate my watering as much as possible to prevent my forgetting and subsequent killing of my beloved plants. I am in zone 9b. Thanks!

      I overhead water by hand time to time if I notice the ground starting to become dry. I mulch heavily around the base of each plant which does a terrific job at retaining moister in the soil for long dry spells. Sometimes I'll just scrape back the mulch with my hand and check to see how things look. Although Goji plants are drought tolerant, they will produce more fruit if they are cared for and the soil is not allowed to become parched.

      Thanks! Good to know, I'll get his guy in the ground. I too mulch heavily, but it is that time of year to bring in more mulch, some areas are getting thin. I can't believe what a difference loads of wood chips can make. My house was a fixer when I bought it and the ground was rock hard, after a few years of layering wood chips everywhere (initially simply for weed control), I now have chocolate cake soil when you brush back the mulch. In light of that, I probably tend to over water considering the mulch layer I have. Mulch for the win, economical and clean!

    Wolf berries grow in Arizona and are said to be a relative of Goji. I plan to buy a few goji plants as an experiment; do you have any tips for growing in a desert environment? Thanks.

    The gogi berry plant is 3 months old in full son, which I water when dry.
    The stems are about 2 1/2 feet tall but, no flowers yet. I live in Houston TX. Is this normal and what can I do to speed up the process?
    Can you please help.
    Thanks so much for your knowledge and help.

      Hello. Yes, the goji plants transplant very well. Just dig up the root ball and transplant. Give the plant plenty of water for a few days. Cheers!

    My husband cut ours back early summer and now the leaves are falling off and covered in black and yellow spots. Is it stressed and dying from being cut at the wrong time of year or is it diseased?

    We have about 4-5 Goji berry shrubs. I need to move them - they are choking out our Barbados Cherry tree (zone 9b) it is April 22, 2023. Is it safe to dig them up & move them now? Will they survive the move?
    There are also a couple of Pomegranate plants among them which I want to move also.

    How soon should you prune after planting a new goji berry plant in the ground? About 2 ft high?

    I've got 12 mature Gogi bushes which I got for free off CL and transplanted last summer. They fruited 3 times before the fall! Can you actually propagate winter/ dormant cuttings? I'm in WI. I do have lots of grow light room in my basement. Think that would work? Love your videos! Thanks:)

    • @plantabundance
      @plantabundance  7 лет назад +1

      Very nice! Yes, gojis propagate very easy from cutting in the winter. It's best to prune and propagate just before they start to break out of dormancy. All my mature goji plants are now leafing out here in the first week of Feb. Zone 9b. Here's a video on my propagation results: ruclips.net/video/rtgzHPnFBBo/видео.html

    • @plantabundance
      @plantabundance  7 лет назад +1

      Not at all. They transplant well. Use a garden fork to dig them up rather than a shovel if you can.

    Thank you for sharing pruning and propagating golji plants I'm trying to grow some from seed along with some huckleberries this year. Do your chickens like to eat them? I love the living fence idea around the chicken run for my hens. Em

    • @plantabundance
      @plantabundance  7 лет назад +1

      My chickens absolutely love em'. Good thing they can't reach most of them. They will actually jump up to pluck off berries that are just out of their reach. It really is a great plant to grow in and around the chicken run. Cheers!

      They do almost appear to be dead when dormant. It's probably fine.
