Improving RAS with DPDK Application's Participation - Ajit Khaparde, Broadcom
RAS or Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability relies on continuously checking a system for errors and failures and recovering from them without having to reset the system. As modern computing systems have adopted a modular approach, the ability of the system components to interact with each other in the event of a failure and then recover from the failure is the key to providing a highly available and serviceable deployment scenario. In this talk, we will go over how DPDK PMD detects and recovers from errors and failures in underlying hardware or firmware and then recovers from it. A DPDK application may or may not be aware of the event. In such a case, we can discuss the role of the application and what it can do if it were to participate in error recovery.
