Yes, a lot of Paula's recipes are unhealthy. One word: moderation.
She isn't twisting anyone's arm and forcing them to try her recipes, and it's pretty ridiculous to get on her case about making fatty foods when so many of us eat fast food on a regular basis.

She's wonderful. We love you Paula Deen! She's looked after the homeless and fed countless people in need. Anthony Bourdain eats guinea pigs. I can't imagine anything worse, so leave Paula Deen alone. She remains a shining light and pop culture queen of cuisine. Your fan base is stronger than ever Paula and none of these dumpster diving comments you see on you tube can change the fact you have millions of people supporting you!

I've met Paula Deen and she is so nice and down to earth. I grew up in the south and is all of the food down here healthy...no but its delicious. That's home cooking for you. Not many people realize what a tough life she has had. It's hard enough to make it in this world but it puts a smile on my face to see respectful loving people who have started from nothing and come out on top. She deserves every good thing that comes out of her sucess and I wish her the best :)

Bourdain actually has classical culinary training and is a CHEF. Paula Deen is a homestyle cook who would rather have the culture stuck with the same old "Grandma's cooking" rather than innovate new dishes. My grandmother is one of the finest cooks I know, and she doesn't make the shit Deen makes. She understands the difference between making something rich and filling over "Just pour as much fat over it as you can until it tastes good."

It's her indulgent cooking style that made her popular in the first place, she was giving the audience what they wanted and it's kind of funny and sad that it has now backfired right on her face. That's the thing about fame, screw up and they will turn on you like rabid dogs.

It really doesn't matter what Ahole Bourdain or any of Paula Deen's haters think because it has absolutely NO bearing on her life whatsoever! She is clearly more successful than Bourdain will ever be and he will never even come close to bein as successful. He's a jealous asshole! Paula is a class act. Bourdain can't keep a fuckin job. Paula will be doin what she's doin as long as she wants. Paula's haters like Bourdain are IRRELEVANT! Go Paula Deen! :)

If you know Anthony Bourdain, you would know that he's an outspoken, against the grain, multi-talented, slightly cocky, creative genius, who is definitely on a higher level than these people. Anthony is complicated. This lady is simple. That should sum it up.

Paula Deen has a great attitude. Happiness and having a good spirit is very healthy. Stress is more harmful on your body than most food. Being able to laugh at negative things and enjoy life is the best medicine for your overall well being.

  • @CappaTheGreat
    @CappaTheGreat 11 лет назад +1

Thing is Bourdain is on cholesterol medication himself, so the pot is calling the kettle black. He eats some unhealthy stuff as well and doesn't seem to care about that at all. Yes Paula is a diabetic, but she has lost weight and changed her diet and encouraging others to do so. Yes Bourdain is an accomplished chef, but Paula caters to a much more different crowd as does all of Food Network hosts.
I'm with you on Fox News though :-)

My uncle who is a smoker has had to have 2 stints put in b/c he would have had a heart attack and my great aunt was a smoker and died from a massive heart attack. The best thing that happened for her is she passed quickly w/o any pain but it sure would have been nice to have had her around longer and I miss her still to this day and she died 28 years ago. Another thing when smokers get sick with upper respiratory it's harder for them to heal and over come it (my smoking neighbor told me that).

Absolutely not! You make you own chooses. Don't hate Paula for show her talent and teaching millions

"keeps her disease (caused by her cooking)"
There are people who eat in great excess and are fat and lazy and don't get diabetes. There are people who eat very healthy, exercise regularly, etc. and get diabetes.
"She's the problem with the US. You guys have some DEEP rooted problems if you're defending her."
There are some problems here, like everywhere else...however, a cooking show on the Food Network would not be at the top of my list as "the" deep rooted problem...that's absurd.

Doesn't anyone get the big picture? Nobody cooks the way Paula Deen does on a daily basis, and neither does Paula Deen (as she has said MANY times, folks). What Paula Deen is doing is giving us a sense for classic, deep south cooking as it's evolved over decades and centuries. Just watch the show and learn something about southern culture...start with Paula's sense of humour and the graciousness she uniformly exhibits and you'll be better off than you were at the outset.

Maybe you should research the topic before you open your mouth and show the world how very little you know. Paula Deen worked hard to get where she is and she didn't get there by belittling others. She is very for real, she is from Georgia. If you don't know anything about the South why are you speaking about it? For your own sake, to speak intelligently about something.....do your research first.

Anthony is bitter and jealous. Sure Paula has exploited herself a tad for her own profit, but her early days on the Food Network with Paula's Home Cooking are essential for any American home cook if you ask me. Great recipes, and an authentic Paula Deen before she got the veneered teeth and exploded into stores with cookware and Smithfield, and before she picked up additional shows on the Food Network. I wish they were available on DVD.

I don't care that Paula is fat. I don't care that she has diabetes. I don't care that she cooks food that most likely is the cause of her type II diabetes. However, if she is endorsing type II diabetes drugs and getting a paycheck from the drug companies then she deserves all the criticism she gets even if she is a nice lady.

So what? Did he portray it as something his viewers should eat, like her donut burger? Does it represent the sort of addictive lifestyle that leads to diabetes? No. He was sampling the food eaten by a tribe of bushmen in Namibia while visiting that country as part of his travels depicted on "No Reservations", simply to be polite to his hosts (which is a rather open-minded and educational gesture on his part), and declared it the "worst meal of his life". Your analogy is false.

is it just me or is Fox politicizing this? it's saying, "Paula Deen is one of us. She's being attacked by an Eastcoast, smarty-panted, fancy dudded, man with a French last name." Or maybe I'm stereotyping rural Americans/Southerners. I don't know. Her accent brings back memories for me, though. I miss the South sometimes. Ok, I don't really miss it. But I do like to remember it.

So because she hasn't met Bourdain or cooked for him, that somehow falsifies his statements? Which ones? The one about one of her making dishes like a hamburger with donuts for buns? She does. The one about her using lots of unhealthy ingredients? She does. The one in which she should've known she'd get diabetes? Well, she should have. This is just typical misdirection by someone who can't accept valid criticism in an honest manner.

The solution is very simple. If you dislike Paula Deen's cooking methods, style, or recipes... change the channel. That's what I'll do when I see Bordaine's classless mug on mine from now on. Being a diabetic, I'm fully aware of what, how much, and where I should eat. Not all of Deen's cooking is unhealthy from what I recall, and even if it was... why can't someone indulge from time to time, if they wish to do so? It's called moderation, and some should consider that, when they speak out.

Responsibility can be SHARED, especially when you're talking about the exchange of information between an influential public figure and those prone to being influenced by her. Irresponsibility on her part does not preclude the same on the part of those influenced by her. As for suing her, I already commented on the notion of using the power of the law to ban, regulate or sue for healthy food: I'm against it. She's promoting keeping an American tradition alive, getting people to actually cook FRESH foods (rather than nuke processed stuff). And more than half of her recipes aren't fried. If people are too stupid to eat in moderation and eat a variety of different things (& way more people eat fast food, processed food, and convenience food than anything she has made)
