I seriously doubt Elon really puts as much time into his work as he claims he does.
Many of his former employers have claimed that he puts on a show of working hard in the giga factory, while doing an activity that he could have asked any other person to do. He himself has claimed that most of the work he does is for showing his employees that he isn't lazy. He believes in working like crazy even if it isn't necessary, for motivating his employees to continue working for his passion, despite not receiving any salary hikes.
Bezos is a more honest man in this regard. Atleast he admits that he doesn't have to work that hard to keep his company going. His most crucial task is to make very few quality decisions with high accuracy, and they both do that well.
But you DON'T need to work 100 hours a week unless your startup is just taking off.
