I learned this from John Brumback's video but he hits it with a slightly elevated cue and hits the cue ball higher almost like a masse shot. The cue ball doesn't draw but kind of crawls sideways. Maybe that's better for bank pool and your way may allow you to hit the shot softer.
I just went down and tried the shot. I hit it too softly a couple of times, and the ball came back at an almost straight angle which was really strange, then I got the speed right and found the sweet spot. Thanks for another great shot to add to my arsenal.
Well done! As I said Bill, This is the most important bank you will ever learn because it requires a firm understanding of how each of the four factors contribute to the object ball's rebound angle. Cut angle, Speed, English, and the Object ball's proximity to the cushion.
I went and took a few lessons with Tom at his house I have to say he is a very good instructor extremely patient and a very nice man I would highly recommend him over other people just for the fact he's not a clock watcher you are going to get good value for your $$ if you take lessons from him.
HI Herb, It's good hear form you, especially considering your nice comment. Thank you so much. I hope you're doing well and running rack after rack. Take no prisoners!
Great video! That’s a tough shot on my table.. Olhausen with worn Simonis cloth. Took me quite a few attempts with a lot of frustration. (Not to blame the equipment)
Respectfully Michael, And not to disparage Freddy in any way, this shot was well known before he was born. As to whether his book or any book for that matter shows more detail than that which a video can offer is hard to imagine. Or are you just saying Freddy's book offers addition information?
I just want everyone to know that my facebook page has been hacked!!!! I cannot get into my page AT ALL!!!! iF YOU HAVE SEEN SOMETHING WEIRD SEEMINGLY COMING FROM MY FACEBOOK PAGE PLEASE DO NOT OPEN IT. IT DID NOT COME FROM ME.
Tom, if the one is lower, close to the pocket with a similar angle, can you use the same shot to avoid the kiss? Seems like there are different shots to attack this problem, and I really don't have a consistent approach to scare my sucker fish? 🤠
Thank you for asking. It's not likely that the shot will work as well should the object ball be positioned further towards the foot rail while attacking from the same angle. However, as the shot is located further up table the shot will work nicely. Practice shortening the angle from various positions up table.

are there any good you tube videos on how to one pocket bank shots like the most common ones that come up in one pocket that also include the english and speed for the hits .
Such as getting cb back up table on this vids set up......shooting a Passover will get one up table but if the ball needs to be uptable to left of screen it’s played Smeadium speed center to high inside.....to get to uptable right one could play it with outside....if double kissing is close and your cb is close enough play it a jumping Passover.
@@keebie2 By "passover" is a banking term I have not heard, even as old as I am. I take it you mean crossing the object ball's banking path with the cueball instead of holding the cueball out of the path? Google would not give me any results for a "passover shot in pool". Bu passing over the path of the Object ball makes sense to me as to what you are talking about. Bonus if you could show me what a jumping passover means.
Mr. Pool Player, had you paid close attention to the spin on the cue ball you could have easily seen the cue ball spinning counter clockwise once the object ball was struck. This only happens if left hand english is imparted. I purposely close not to mention which english I used here because I wish any observer to take it upon themselves to figure some of this stuff out for. Be a student of the game. You can learn a lot from taking these shots to a table and working them out through trial and error.

Banking is all about speed. Speed changes where it will go. You can tight up or throw a ball as well with speed alone, then there's English.
wow i learned something today--i dont think i would beat u in one pocket, you have some great knowledge...........

Both are technical dependent on necessary position of the cb for the next shot. Too broad so specificities are necessary

Always inside english. Watch the spin on the cue ball. It will tell you all you need to know about the hit. Thank you for watching my videos.
I have shot this wrong many times. I was under the impression you had to hit it harder to hold it up . Obviously that is another myth.

More spin less speed you c. Hold the line on many banks
Hitting it harder will make it straighten the angle still, just maybe not as much as using spin
