      I got rear-ended once on I75 in rush hour traffic. Luckily, the car behind me was not going fast. Distracted drivers are dangerous.

    If you drive a car, I would get one installed because without it. You will get damage to rear tail lights and vehicle body damages.
    The car in the back of you will hit the sparebumper and get stopped and won't be able to touch your car's body or rear lights because the sparebumper is in the way.

    I tow a small trailer sometimes on the weekends. So I was hoping I could pop that super bumber in/out in a second with no tools - like I do with my ball hitch. Having to use straps to install every time would be a problem. And is the compression method prescribed in the owner's manual? Seems like pre-compressing the shock absorbers would reduce their capacity to absorb. Also, I've read that, like most cheaper steel you use outdoors, they rust fast. How's yours holding up?

    • @CampingCoastie
      @CampingCoastie  Год назад

      You can, just don't put in all the rubber bumpers. That's how I do it now.

    If you were to remove the awning, would there be a hole or two in the roof? could the wiring be used for a security system or exterior lighting? Thanks

    • @CampingCoastie
      @CampingCoastie  4 года назад

      I am working on removing the awning, just not sure when it will happen. From the way I understand, it's mounted to mounting points on the roof. The same ones a roof rack would mount to. Not sure about the wiring, that is what I am trying to figure out now.

      @@CampingCoastie Thank you for your assessment. If it leaves many holes I may need to order instead of buy one off the lot. Please post a video if you decide to remove it. You are very educational! Thanks again.

    Did the spare bumper have any affect on the van's rear departure angle? Also, a thought: if one had bikes on a rack up on the van door, like the one that comes from Coachmen, a spare bumper might help protect them, too.

    • @CampingCoastie
      @CampingCoastie  4 года назад +1

      It does affect the rear approach/departure angle. Mostly because it projects straight back. I am use to it and approach banked areas at an angle. I might get a different mount for it.

    Gard, love your videos and your channel. Spare bumper is great! Can you do an after dark video with the outside lights on to see how bright they are? Also, does the energy management system on the beyond have a feature like the Travato that will allow 10 to 15 amp system recharge on 110V like in a garage with an adapter and 10 gauge cord on the 30 amp power cord with the beyond?

    • @CampingCoastie

      Thanks! I will do a video soon with the new lights, they are amazing.
      I can set my inverter to limit input amps in 5 amp intervals. The lowest is 5 up to 30. Here is a video I made showing how it works.

      @@CampingCoastie I am also curious why you chose the Beyond over the Pleasure Way Ontour 2.2? Your input is valuable. I am seeing a lot of issues with the Winnebago Travato's on YT channels so I have eliminated the Travato from my future purchase plan. The Pleasure Way Ontour 2.2 has a five year warranty and the Coachman Beyond has a 1 year warranty. I understand going away from the Pleasure Way wide body but why a Beyond over the Ontour? I am down to these 2 rv's for future purchase so your input of choosing one over the other is valued!

      We toured the Coachmen Beyond factory and were impressed with how they build them. We really liked the very quiet 12 volt AC, and that it can run for 4 to 10 hours on the lithium batteries. We liked not having a built-in gasoline generator to maintain and all the noise associated with it. Everything runs on 12 volts and is powered by the batteries except for the microwave and the Truma Combi. We like the insulation Coachmen uses, Rockwool, plus we have the optional Phase Change insulation. We like the drawers in the kitchen, dovetailed joints and not notched for plumbing. We also like the side and rear door screens.
      The PleasreWay is also very nice, but it was also more than $25,000 more expensive.

      @@CampingCoastie Thank you for your quick responses to my questions. I hope Coachmen does a running change on the back windows to awning style. When and if they do, you have been a big help on my future purchase decision-making! Stay safe and well!

    Hi Gar I bought the spare bumper for our 2020 coachman beyond i installed it worked great until ? I had to back up and the backup sensors picked it up ? Is there a way to avoid this as it is constantly on now when backing up ? Was curious if you had this issue or is it just me ?? Do I need to turn the sensor off ? If I can

    • @CampingCoastie
      @CampingCoastie  4 года назад

      I have a a 2019 chassis and don't have the sensors. On my truck I had sensors and would turn them off when I had my bike rack on the back. If that works for you having the sensors off when backing up might be okay.
      I have noticed that sense I have been using this people don't tailgate or park close to me.

      I found this online:
      How to Silence a Ford Backup Alarm
      Start the Ford vehicle, and put it in reverse. The backup alarm will begin to sound.
      Press the "Select/Reset" stem on the center dash controls. Hold it down for a couple of seconds, then release it. Wait four seconds for the "Select/Reset" menu to return to the main screen. The Ford backup alarm is now disabled.
