This brought me to tears. I'm born and raised in DC and the unreported cases and missing amber alerts for brown girls and boys in this area has been appalling. It's even more heartbreaking for the families. Thanks Issa and team for sharing this video. Love Malcolm JM and Chandra.

Even at the end, there was an absence of compassion shown this black family. The news media used this families tragedy as a platform to find another child that had been featured via they're venues.
When Lena (the momma) started crying after she found out about her daughter, I felt like my heart was snatched out my body.
I knew as soon as I saw the words "amber alert missing teen" it would be lil Becky be before the picture showed up 😫
I called it out too just before they popped up that picture!!
The fact that this is what goes on. Rest in peace to Janayah Thompson 5 year old who was missing in Gulfport MS, the police refused to put out an amber alert because the parents did not have a vehicle description -so the community came together and searched. She was later found in a vacant trailer. This film speaks volumes.

I live here in this city of Gulfport and it was sad at first how they handle this family case! But thank God justice got served for this family and the baby! Her killers has been brought to justice... Talking about it makes me cry!!!
Well you do know an amber alert is only sent when they have info on the abductor right? That's the law. Whether you are brown, white, purple or pink.
This should definitely be turned into a full movie to address this issue!

The moms cries... broke my heart.. had to pause the movie to contain my emotions
I don't know if it's because I just lost my daughter but this had me hyperventilating when the detectives said they needed to identify the body. I just broke down in tears. Such a good short film

this is why social media is important to us. we can text facebook twitter etc. to our neighbors and friends when someone is missing....waiting for law enforcement is wasting time...
wow! I am sad and pissed off all at the same time. When our children go missing they are run aways and deliquents. But when its the All American dream Becky all resources are given. Shameful!
Wow even when the reporters came they were more concerned with finding Becky. A sad reminder of how cruel our world is towards black and missing children.
Their first instance is to claim a missing child is "runaway". I hate that so much. Happens all the damn time, makes me sick to think about so many missing children that were labled as run aways when they were really abducted.
😢😥Me and my family know this kind of story all to well, for my Beautiful Grandson was murdered last year June and still nothing is being done😥😢...So i get this💓

I just recently completed a research project on this very subject. It is a sad but true reality that when minorities vanish, even children and teens, they do not receive equal media coverage or law enforcement support.
This really broke me...mostly because its real. the ignorance from the media and law enforcement is real...race baiting in the media is real...the pain..its real. i studied the invisibility of black female victims in America and it was the most painful process...this needs to go viral.
This film is so necessary yet so unfortunately true. Smh...

My sister passed away about 5 years ago. There's literally nothing worse than seeing the woman who birthed you bawling in sadness. Makes me tear up when I even think about it
I remember seeing this at the 2014 ABFF. It won for HBO short films. I am glad to have the opportunity to see it again. Well deserved win and still, unfortunately, very timely. 😔

Watching this reminded me of LaToyia Figueroa's story and lack of airtime. The media needs to do better for our missing Black and Brown sisters and brothers. May she rest in eternal peace.

My name is Crystal Shotwell and to hear the reporters saying Crystal Gladwell kind of drove the whole message home for me and made it that much more realistic. This could happen to any of us at any time. Well done! And Chandra.....whew. I had to hold myself together at my desk 💔💔💔 wonderful performance!

I need people in the US to STOP using the term "minorities" about themselves. That term alone is chipping away at the self worth of the psyche. Being a statistical ethnic minority is one thing but to describe a human being as an actual minority is so loaded. It hurts to read it so I can only imagine what it does to someone being referred to that day after that to the point where the individual takes ownership of the label and uses it on themselves and their loved ones. Language is powerful.
I can stand journalists tbh especially this modern day crop who are all abt sensationalism and care nothing abt the individual. #poignantfilm

Oh my goodness the emotions I felt while watching this. I was pleasantly surprised to see Chandra Wilson aka Miranda Bailey playing the mom; said "umph, Malcolm Jamal Warner still look good! Go on with your fine self!"; said "ain't that a damn shame" when the blonde haired missing teen got an amber alert; ugly cried when the mother found out here child was dead and figured Chandra must have gone to a deep, real place and imagined her own children to pull out such emotion; and got LIVID and wanted to run over (reverse and run over again!) every single reporter on her front porch asking her those dumb arse questions. Wow, all of those feelings in under 20 minutes! Great episode and unfortunately real life for many families of color.

WOW..... I'm actually crying. This has definitely touched my heart. Brandi Ford has done a great job with writing this epic emotional piece. It's sad to say that many of our minority brothers and sisters are still missing.... I pray for the many families that have gone through the trauma of losing a family member or close friend. I pray that things will be better than what it is now

This was a great short film and the acting was phenomenal. It's so sad that many African American families have to go through such nonsense for no reason at all. The emotions felt in this short film are very real, and I know because I lost my nephew last year. This was great please keep up the good work.
