I'm noticing a trend here.. the music of the "poor people" always becomes the national music of these countries!

Mexican music is alright. I don't know too much about it. I do like some of it. I do like Vicente Fernández. My favorite mariachi song by Vicente is Motivos. It's a lovely ballad romantic song. My mom loves that song too. I would say Vicente Fernández is my favorite mexican singer. His son Alejandro is pretty good too.
The lyrics of Motivos go like this
    Una rosa
    Pintada de azul
    Es un motivo
    Una simple estrellita de mar
    Es un motivo
Escribir un poema es fácil si existe un motivo
Y hasta puede esperarse un consuelo de la fantasía
    Unos ojos
    Bañados de luz
    Son un motivo
    Unos labios queriendo besar
    Son un motivo.......

He doesn't write his songs, mariachi singers rarely do

Mariachi is from Cocula Jalisco. Theres even a song named “De Cocula Es El Mariachi” which translates to “Mariachi is from Cocula”.

It’s called Cocula… not de cocula es el mariachi

So what's with the accordions then? Is that due to the influence of german immigrants and polka music?

This video has a lot of miss information. I wish you would take the time and do better research before putting a video like this out. Mariachi music and history deserves more respect.
