Translating chinese to english is very difficult just from grammar alone so the CN and ENG versions being different makes sense. Also kinda prefer this version lyrically.
The English vocals are beautiful but lyrically the English version is a little nonsensical. Props to them for trying to capture the original meaning of the song as much as possible in English, but it makes the English version as a stand-alone quite garbled lyrically

As someone that primarily uses English voices and subtitles, I would've been perfectly fine with having this version as well. The amazing vocals aside, just from reading the subtitles alone I'd place it way higher than the english version's lyrics.

i appreciate that they tried with the english version... but yeah, i think they should've been confident in the chinese version and just had good subtitles for everyone else, which is what they did here. translating songs and poetry is one of the hardest things for anyone to do with language ^^;
Yep, especially knowing that in Chinese, you can convey more thoughts in less syllables. It'll be difficult translating that to EN while maintaining the 'flow' of the song. I think this is why in some parts of the song in the EN ver., the lyrics are trying to 'catch-up' with the beat. Although this is the case, I do think that Hoyo has done an amazing job for the EN version. They didn't restrict themselves with directly translating the CN lyrics, and just created separate lyrics for the same audio.
You know. Chinese has more free grammar than English. And Chinese could use less words to describe. And ancient Chinese still has some using nowadays, as a Chinese I need to say this song used many ancient words make this song more beautiful
For a franchise that aims at casual players, I could understand why they need localization, as most ordinary people, especially teenagers, are not used to reading subtitles. After they have been intrigued by the English version, they will go ahead and explore the original to find out it's even better. For this song in particular, the English version is basically paced the same as the Chinese version.
After listening for awhile and comparing the lyrics, CN version is far better imo I think the CN lyrics perfectly shows what story and themes the game wants to portray
