I was gonna ask you, do you have to remove the red old school rectifier with this type setup? been at a stand still with my cl70, the TB website said to buy there 6v rectifier when you do the tandem wire harness and didn't know if than i would also need a 12v or 6v battery and if still needed to switch out the lights to 12v. I have parts to do either but not sure the correct way to use the tandem harness and why there website recommended the 6v metal newer type rectifier with there tandem wire harness purchase, so i didn't buy there 12v rectifier. and also didn't know which wave type rectifier that they have to purchase. Thanks for any of your help
Grade 5/8 or equivalent metric should be more than enough. Those that are shearing probably have had the nuts backing off or loosening allowing engine to move around and introduce jolting/vibration. If torqued and loctited shouldn't have any issues
@@VintageHondaMinis Is there a specified torque setting for those bolts…..I have an Icebear Champion CT70 clone…no manual for that. I did buy the Clymer’s tech book but it doesn’t cover the Lifan 125cc engines. Anything else i am trying to get out the Clymer book.
I would do a front clutch 125cc like this build (Lifan style 125cc). In the USA market this engine is cost effective compared to other bore size engines b/c it is the most common engine, widely available and plenty of power for a Z.
I know this isn’t 100% related to the video, and maybe this would make for a good video, but what are your top 5/10 most used or important tools/ equipment to your shop?
Tough one because I use an array of tools. I'll try to get a video series out on basic tools needed and cover some specialty tools that will save you headaches when particular issues arise
@@VintageHondaMinis Awesome, I have a good array of hand tools and what not but I have still found myself buying tools and/or equipment and shop supply that is somewhat specific to the bikes
Great Video for the beginner, I have installed at least 20 Lifan engines on builds with good luck, using both 6-& 12 volt conversion good job
i appreciate you doing this more than you know!!! Thanks alot!
I second that.
Thank you for this
I'm on the lookout for a Lifan 125 up in Canada to get this done
Things are getting scarce. Surprised the 125 is hard to get since it is the commodity of these import engines

Hey Josh, several owners have had engine mounting bolts shear off…..what bolt are you using?

Can you recommend a a semi auto motor for z50?
Hello - Email or call me and I can make some recommendations - VintageHondaMinis.com
I’m thinking about swapping a 100cc engine in one of my z50s. So what’s your thought about that?
