Brilliant. Stephen is an inspiration and I love that he's not compromised on his diet. I've been saying this for years. As a 54 year old who has been going the gym for around 18 years and loves a mad cardio session, I'm nowhere near Stephen's condition but feel as fit as I did 20 years ago, and never once felt the need to go on a diet. Obviously the key is moderation, but if I want some cake or a chocolate bar then I'll have one. What is life if you can't enjoy food? If you exercise regularly then food is just fuel, like Stephen says.
I agree on the moderation and not restricting ourselves too much part, but it must be said that for some people this approach works while for others it just won't yield similar results. Your natural tendencies with weight and metabolism depend a lot on genetics and yeah, some people, especially men, can stay really lean and strong eating a regular diet with some sweets and some fast food if they work out a lot, but for a lot of people this just isn't enough to acheive very low body fat or to maintain it, despite exercising plenty. Now this isn't me saying that having sub 10% bf with rippling abs should be a reasonable and desirable goal for everyone, far from that, but if that's what someone wants, I would imagine that in the vast majority of cases they would need to cut out the high caloric, high saturated fat, and sugary foods from their diet and tweak how much they're eating to get into that deficit and lose the necessary weight in fat, while also working out frequently. But like you said, you're middle aged and feel perfectly healthy and fit with a regular, no fuss diet, which makes sense. The body doesn't need to look a certain way to be healthy, the most important thing is staying active and mobile while fueling it enough and with everything it needs. Stephen is a big proponent of stretching and warming up properly, from what I've seen on his instagram, and I've seen a few other elderly people who are very fit having a similar approach and getting to enjoy life well past what most would consider their physical limit in terms of age. I think food can be just good fuel as long as you are eating enough and from different sources, especially fresh vegetables and fruit. Unfortunately, the patterns in most developed countries don't reflect that and people think taking supplements will make up for all the things they're missing.
@@millacabral9475 yep, all good points. I've always thought that what you eat should be a lifestyle choice rather than dieting just to achieve an aim of losing weight. In my mid 30s I made a conscious decision to change how I eat after I started to put on weight. Bread was drastically cut down, so no sandwiches in the week. Large lunches always made me tired in the afternoon so I cut out lunch, instead I snack on fruit and nuts throughout the day. I love vegetables and salad (without any dressing) so that's lucky for me, and have never taken supplements. All this means that I am able to enjoy sweets or chocolate or the odd kebab or pizza without any worry. I think everyone has to find what works for them, but make it a lifestyle choice rather than a short term diet. As you say, most guys in their 50s are not looking to get ripped. That's a vanity thing that most 50 year olds have grown out of. Fit and healthy is good enough, and if you can compete with younger guys, even better.
True, you can eat any food as long as you manage your total calories. I eat lasagna on a weekly basis, pizza bi weekly, every weekend in the evening ice cream, daiky yoghurt and snacks, and don't gain weight.
Was Stephen Hyland always so gifted with high athletic endurance or is that built up over decades of dedication? 1000 in an hour is a crazy amount. And then to do it again the next day is just mind blowing. Even 3700 in total those are really insane numbers
Another great video with just easy watching and laughing at all the antics! A great idea for all of you to have Stephen Hyland on to share his strength and outlook on physical training and strength! Something for everyone to learn! The arms on him are incredible! Just like yours Ashley! 😄
What an absolute legend of a man Stephen is! He is the perfect example of age is just a number. He has such a great mind and wonderful spirit! Also, I love how he is not strict with his diet and eats what he loves. I am glad you guys were able to work with him and I always love the content you put out 💕- great work!
Commented it on Nile's channel, Stephen is amazing, he's got that can do attitude to attempt the extraordinary feats, also proved that it takes so much training to get anywhere near Ash's record.
Ash is so respectful. Repeatedly referring to this legend as an old man and not Ash but someone else kept saying he was the Olympian was disrespectful.
The things Stephen Hyland can do are nuts. I used to swim to a fairly decent level and could do 40 chin-ups, I never carried on until I couldn't do any more but it wouldn't have been much further. Someone else I used to swim with did 20, bet I couldn't beat him so I doubled his total then stopped. Because of the sort of things gymnasts do, I'd have expected them all to be much better than I was but I guess not. Get Adam Peaty on with you guys and see wat he can do :)
That's very impressive numbers! I remember Nile did 40 pull ups (hands facing away) in one of the first ultimate gymnastics challenges when he was in very good shape, but the thing is past a certain point you won't increase your reps for something like pull ups unless you train for endurance in that specific movement. People always think climbers, for example, can do tons of pull ups but in reality most can't go much past 20, because they simply never train for high reps, it's mostly strength based. So elite climbers can usually do one arm pull ups, something very few gymnasts can do, but can't get 30 consecutive pull ups, which most elite gymnasts can.
I guess the Fountain of Youth is not found in the Center of the Earth or at the Bottom of the the Sea,instead it CAN be found it the in the things/passion we love to do... Congratulation Sir for finding yours!
This was fun to watch. Heck anyone who can do pull-ups or chin-ups or even the stupid chin-up hanging thing they made us girls do instead of chin-ups is awesome in my book. Each year in school were had these physical fitness tests which each student had to do. They included running 600 meters, 50 yard dash, sit-ups, push-ups, and a few I can’t remember right this second. Everyone hated it especially the girls because we never did anything that would give us more upper body and arm strength.
STEVEN IS AN INSPIRATIONAL MAN OMG!! I’ve officially got the inspiration I need to truly work hard on getting into shape maybe even timing certain skills I’m good and I will definitely be improving my diet by eating chocolate, ice cream, pizza etc (JOKING JOKING 😂) but jokes aside a proper new diet, I needed this video so TY TO THE MUSKETEERS LOVE YALL SO MUCH I HOPE TO MEET YALL ONE DAY ♥️♥️♥️
I like that the old man is stronger in many ways. But I don't like him trying to fly too far or push himself too quickly. Work within what you know you can do and only progress incrementally when you're nicely warmed up and what you're doing feels easy or at least comfortable.

What a BEAST! Also today I learned that the Musketeers&Co singing while spelling out L-O-V-E in gymnastics shapes is what I needed in my life 🤩
Thanks for highlighting this amazing man and his achievements. Love your videos.

I love Stephen :) keep rolling man! He's maintained the gymnast body and arms really well!

Stephen is amazing!!! I loved his comment, ‘ You call it fat, I call it fuel’ Brilliant
The only thing I have in common with Stephen is our diet. Can't wait to look like Stephen.
FINALLY Nile beats Ash at something! 😉🤣
The high speed pull up segment reminded me of a Benny Hill skit
What a genuine, funny, talented guy! Also… those muscles 🤯 breaks all the stereotypes
Omg!! How fit does he look.... Amazing bloke 🤗
Ooo! Ashley and Luke had a tiny spot of singing harmony near the end! 🎵
Ash is so respectful. Repeatedly referring to this legend as an old man and not Ash but someone else kept saying he was the Olympian was disrespectful.
What a amazing person. This is my favorite videos on everyone's channel so far.
How amazing is Stephen?! 💪🏼 Ash, will you attempt to beat any of HIS world records?
5:53 you were nearly all completely off pitch but it somehow turned put quite nice hHahahaha
This guy is amazing! Would love to ask him how he keeps his joints feeling good at his age? How does he prevent stiffness or arthritis?

That is amazing at that age doing gymnastics and doing world records 🤯🤯😁😁
Stephen is so humble.

Hey...I'm 69! NOOO ...I'm no challenge to Stephen or any of you!! Stephen...you're an inspiration!!! 😍
That was great!! Good seeing you all in the gym again!!
5:26 was so wholesome
STEVEN IS AN INSPIRATIONAL MAN OMG!! I’ve officially got the inspiration I need to truly work hard on getting into shape maybe even timing certain skills I’m good and I will definitely be improving my diet by eating chocolate, ice cream, pizza etc (JOKING JOKING 😂) but jokes aside a proper new diet, I needed this video so TY TO THE MUSKETEERS LOVE YALL SO MUCH I HOPE TO MEET YALL ONE DAY ♥️♥️♥️
It was a FLUKE Ash! We still believe in you!
This guy has arms the size of Luke's at almost 70
Motivation is the word thanks lads 🤛🏿
I like that nile does a sort of plie as he's going up for the chin ups lol, looks like he's half training for ballet
Stephen is life goals! ❤️
I’ll be blessed if I can make it out of bed at 70 years old
Стивен изумителен!сделал всех!!просто,не притендуя на "метра". Красавчик!!!!!!!!!
I mean, yeah, Stephen is incredible, BUT the main thing I'm going to remember is for sure joannas VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV
You guys need to try flying trapeze! It's so much fun. I've been taking classes off and on for 20+ years.
🇬🇧🙋🏾♀️So, wait a minute, waiiiiit a minute🖐🏾He's how old? 🤯
Ash there's your bench mark, you've got just under 40yrs to do it! Wow 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
That man is Legend!
Ah so that's Ash'secret weapon; all in the hips 🤭👌
Stephen should join the musketeers
Yay Nile!!! You beat Ash! Well done :)
His hair is not grey, he just went Ultra Instinct.
My 6 year old loves “funny man” Ash but just said was he being kind letting that old man win 😂😂
I like that the old man is stronger in many ways. But I don't like him trying to fly too far or push himself too quickly. Work within what you know you can do and only progress incrementally when you're nicely warmed up and what you're doing feels easy or at least comfortable.
How great is your healthy competition. You all had to give it a go. 🙌
Amazing
He's incredible but also couldn't help spot Sammie bossing it in the background
NILE BEAT ASH!!! The argument over that is hilarious
Luke could just stand under the bars and look over them, he's so dang tall. 😉
What a champ
What the?! Nile actually beat Ash for once!
Zorbing - come on guys rolling down a hill or propelling the ball with sheer physical force! What could be better? :)
Yassssss
Man, he’s incredible….but all of you guys are too. I couldn’t do one of those chin ups. Nope. Not today!
I love you Ash 😄
Stephen for 4th Musketeer!
@11:09 did he say gymnastic twits? 😂
Ohh tun sesh
Ash 🥰👍🌈🤗😉😘
Stephen👏👏🤩🤗
What was his specialty in GymnasticsMethod.
How tall and how much does he weight
3:41 Sammi you are breaking the car
Which gym is this?
And I used to be proud that I could do 4 pull ups….I need to get back on that.
Well done boys. Love. 🤣 Lol xx
WOW
I’m worried about him breaking bones. They sure aren’t as string as his muscles.
Luke is literally 2 times the size of nile
Cool
Stephen wasn't going as high as you 3 were
3:44 is she ok? :)
You need to change the title
Remember the Nile Beat Me Vlog from a couple months ago?
I can do barely 12 and I thought Im in decent shape. At least I have time till 69 to work on that heh
PLEASE NEVER SING AGAIN!!! YOU are loved!!!
Ahh, where’s the hairy chest fine, Ash!?
you call those chin ups ?
Are we trying to hurt the old guy? He's strong AF but he's not invincible. This is too much too fast.
Sorry but you didn't show how the old guy did the chin ups. Those cuts and camera pointing other directions looks like cheating.
His form was shit compared to yours. Obviously you are stronger.
