Fantastic video update, I’m glad you managed to find it a new home! Was a pleasure to chat with your chairman from this video on the 313 driver experience event! It’ll look stunning if you get the unit back into NSE! Let’s hope one day she may run, albeit in push pull rather than under her own power! You guys are doing a great job. Here’s to the future!

Good on you Sir, these electric units get a really bum deal in preservation.

Apparently a fourth carriage is at Steamtown, Carnforth that would make a "correct" 4 car consist possible. A second 309, 3 car set, is based at the Tanat Valley Railway but I don't know if they are trying to obtain the Carriage that is at Steamtown?
Tis a shame the third coach was separated from this unit but at least it will be put to use. Maybe one day a proper Four car unit can be assembled.
Oh to see a 2 + 4 consist powering out of Clacton or Walton :)

The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum found itself having to compete with a scrap dealer for an historic tram. We lost. The last of its kind was scrapped. We then lobbied the state legislature to pass a law that states that bonified historical preservation railways and museums must be offered retired equipment before any scrap dealer may purchase said equipment. We have since acquired historically significant cars from transit authorities for the sum of $1.00 each!

In the UK the rail industry often used to broker deals with preservationists to save historic equipment. Sadly, teh story is that someone managed to collect quite a few items this way and then used this equipment to form a company that competed against the companies that had sold them. As a result, they basically stopped offering stock at such prices.

This vehicle has now been offered a home by the Rushden, Higham and Wellingborough Railway. To quote from the Rushden Historical Transport Society: "It is intended to restore and equip the vehicle as accurately as possible to its 1980s condition, and to use the vehicle together with our existing Mk1 propelled stock".
