The alternate universe Gamora not falling for Peter makes the loss of our Gamora all the more bitter. What they had was special... shaped by their experiences together. Can't recreate it no matter how bad you wish it.

So if Gamora doesn't remember him in endgame, couldn't Doctor strange use the time stone to give her the memories of her old self. Or even age her to the state she was in before her death, memories and all? just a theory
It's not that Gamora doesn't remember Quill. This is a different version of Gamora from a time before she met Quill. The Gamora he knows is long dead having been sacrificed for the Soul Stone by Thanos. Doctor Strange can't give the past Gamora her memories of Quill back because there are no memories at all
I’m not saying killing Gamora was a bad thing. I think it is one of the best tragedies in the MCU and the MCU was sorely lacking in that department before infinity war. But I would love to see where James Gunn would have gone with Gamora and Peter in volume 3 if she survived infinity war.
Nope. This is perfect. They had it perfect. Nowhere to go but down. They went out on top the way their love and story deserved. I know what you are saying, but sometimes the hero has to die rather than just sit and get old.

It would be nice at the end, when Chris Pratt stopped making Star Lord, that they made an arc of him going to Eternity to ask for the original Gamora back, but for that he would have to go through a mega cosmic saga with him as the protagonist, playing Pearl Jam Last Kiss at some point.
