We’ve had days like this before, this vey season. 0-5 at home to Birmingham was the joint RECORD home league defeat in the club’s history. That is, over 131 years. Just let that sink in for a moment.
Yet despite that staggering defeat against a Birmingham side which will finish near bottom of the league, Luton have gone on to stand just one win away from the playoffs.
Yes, the odds are stacked against us. 9-10 players injured. Others playing through injury. A reserve keeper parachuted in. Fatigue across the squad …
YET, remarkably the playoffs are still there to be seized.
We NEED:
- the right tactical approach to the Reading game. Do not go kamikaze in the first 20 mins
- tactical discipline by the players
- fanatical support at the Kenny. Every tackle, every header, every good pass must be cheered by the crowd to the rafters.
We fans must show no fear, no nervousness and encourage the boys from first minute to the last minute … just to do their best. We are immensely proud of the players, team and the club, and will remain so … come what may. COYH!

I certainly won't be watching the extended highlights on LTFC website. The reality is that we would need a squad as near good as Fulham to win this level but that would still mean little in the Premier League. We need the new stadium, increased revenue streams and a fully fit squad.

It was always going to be a tough one, even if we had our strongest team playing. If we had been in sixth place back in August, we would be saying we will only be happy if we are here abouts come the final day... well, we are. There are only five clubs above us in the table. Four of them have played in the Premier League in recent years and benefitted from the TV money. Two of them only last season. Huddersfield as recently as 2019 (when we were in league one). Forest are the only team who haven't been in the Premier League in recent years but have been knocking on the door for several seasons now. I guess they are hoping to become the next Yo-Yo club. We have put many of their noses out of joint by daring to rub shoulders with them on our shoestring budget.
