Thomas Sowell wrote decades before these three economists won the Nobel Prize for explaining why some countries are poor, and others are wealthy. However, Sowell is a Black conservative, and what he says does not fit into the prevailing narrative.

It’s not a holistic analysis because, it doesn’t take into account the effects of historical events that laid the foundation for some to prosper at the expense of others and from the exploitation of other societies. It’s more than democracy and rule of law.

Too much is put into innovation and having to increase populations. You can have a sustainable population that’s just free market, goods and services if a government has a balanced budget.

Climate is the basis for wealth and development. Climate made it possible to grow crops which in return required adequate government institutions to organize societies. Ever wonder why most developed countries with a deep history are geographically located in the Goldilocks zone?

    Regulations are reactionary.
They exist b/c someone or many abused or ignored a serious issue.
Bureaucracy generates more regulations to protect the bureaucracy.
If regulations are disabled, then abuse will follow.
Who really trusts a big corp to do the right thing?

Just because it was decided that they should get the Nobel Prize... I should believe what's said in their book. Nevermind the number of variables not included in their "research". Nevermind, it says exactly what the rich wants it to say. Yeah... OK

Economics is not a science. Giving Nobel prize for opinions is ridiculous. The so-called social sciences are not sciences. They are all mere opinions. A lot of time and money is wasted on these subjects.

I'm not a Nobel laureate, but using common sense, I came to the conclusion that according to historical data, rich countries became such because throughout history they stole wealth from other countries, and they remain rich because they do this even today, and poor countries are poor because they They were historically robbed by rich foreign countries, which are still doing it today. Question? will the nobel committee give me some money, i think i deserve it after such a ground-breaking discovery

This is not true. At least not in the present. Have you ever been to a poor country before. You will find lots of..... wait for it....... corruption. If you could click your fingers and make governance problems go away then poor countries would become middle income within a few decades.

@@kailashkashyap6364 According to historical data, my homeland was among the three richest countries in Europe in the 14th century, of course it increased its wealth by conquest, but in the 15th century a larger and more powerful country came and conquered my homeland, among others, and that same empire became one of the most powerful and of the richest countries in the 16th century, a few hundred years later its power is declining, it is losing territories and wealth to stronger countries that are getting rich at the expense of the declining empire, can you see the pattern now, the strong are stealing and getting rich at the expense of the weaker ones that are becoming poorer and poorer
