And I'm really benefiting from the weights programme 💪 Could you consider doing a short warm-up one and short cool down one that we can follow along with you, please? I use the ones you've done where you explain all the exercises, but if I could do them with you for 10 mins or so before a practice, that would be fab:) Thanks, guys 🙏

    Reading yoyr opponent's receiving stand is the first thing our coach taught us in the adult class of my club!
    It's very enlightening and feels great when you predicted exactly where the shuttle will go.
    Tip 1 is the best illustration.
    For us the amateur players, perhaps that's the most important skill to learn.

    • @stevemawer848

      Reading a server's stand is also a good thing to do to anticipate the sort of serve you can expect - a lot of players tend to give away how they'll serve.

    Hey Greg and Jenny , excellent video thank you for sharing. I used to stand biased towards my backhand side for this reason however the better opponents I’m playing with are pushing serves to the forehand corner now😮 what has worked for me overall to cover most replies well is actually to stand very close to the server , this allows me to intercept more of the service returns and essentially cut off the ones that try to push into those back corners. That along with keeping my racket at net level seems to help me the most. What do you think of that ?
    Anyways great video as usual 😊

    I have a video request. I think sometimes your videos reflect that you have the facilities to train a lot, and someone to train with, and I am sure that is the case for some, but for many of us that is not the case, we have no time to prepare for a match against a certain player, no one that will feed us and endless stream of shoots for practise and so on.
    I think it would be very useful to have something like 5 thing to quickly go over in your head during the first rallies in a match to better play your opponent and "think on your feet"
    Also maybe how to best test you opponent, like lure them forwards or backwards during your serve to see how well they adapd. What do I know. I am no expert.

    • @stevemawer848
      @stevemawer848 Год назад +1

      You may be no expert, but you're thinking along the right lines already! Spotting your opponents' weaknesses is key to outplaying them, so the sooner you test them, the sooner you'll be scoring against them.

    • @stevemawer848
      @stevemawer848 Год назад

      The good thing about a powerful smash is that you turn that power to your advantage - all you have to do is hold your racquet in the path of the shuttle at the right angle and it'll pop back over the net so they have to lift. Or give it a flick up so they can smash again - if you can do that twice their third smash will go in the net (it always worked for me against heavy smashers!).

    I love this channel, but point 1 is not what I typically encounter. I've found the opposite is true in most of my league games. If I'm playing with a lefty partner in men's doubles, I will often choose to serve right-to-left to the far left. The opposition lift the vast majority up the line to my partner's forehand and not across court as suggested in this video, so I recommend people experimenting with this. In addition, generally If I serve from right-to-left to the "T", then the return is usually directly back in the direction I served from, though some better players might slight of hand it elsewhere, but that's rare.

    • @BadmintonInsight
      @BadmintonInsight  Год назад

      There’s a big difference between serving to the far left and across the body. Yes, if you serve to the far left then the most likely reply is straight up the tramline but this isn’t the serve placement we are discussing in this video! If you watch our men’s doubles serve & return series, we go into this in much more detail.

      @stevemawer848 Год назад +1

      The best racquet, regardless of price, is the one that feels comfortable for you. They come in three types of balance: head heavy, head light, and even balance. Head heavy is good if you're a power player with a good smash, head light is ideal for fancy control stuff at the net, while even balance is a good compromise. Also the grips come in a few different sizes so choose one that feels good in your hand. If you have friends who already play, try their racquets to get an idea of what suits you, if they'll let you! But it may take a while to sort out your ideal, so just start and see how you get on! And enjoy it, it's a great game!

    I am so weak at backhand while in a match...i just mess it up or freeze completely and cant take the backhand shot at all...i go for a full arm backhand swing...which ends up thr shuttle going midcourt and easire for the opponent to smash
    But while practicing i get it perfect...

      You need to practise pronation (forearm rotation), not full arm swing, to get more power into the backhand shot.

      Badminton is tricky in that you need to get quite a lot right just to play badly! First tip is to watch the shuttle onto your racquet - lots of people look at where they're going to hit it to, and miss the shuttle completely! And practise your footwork - that's key to being able to react quickly and be on balance when you play each shot. And keep playing!

    Hi bros can you pls tell how to sqitch from a nylon shuttle to a feather shuttle
    This us Sai From Banglore 🇮🇳

      The flight and weight of a feather shuttle is quite different from a plastic, so it may take a while to adjust. They travel further and the flight path decays more slowly, IME. Plastics need to be hit a lot harder, and they tend to drop vertically when they' run their course. Just play and get used to it, really.
