Good evening Doc. I would like to inquire why a public hosp here in Davao City where a cancer institute is housed denies services to a cancer patient who refused to undergo chemo theraphy. Are cancer patients not given autonomy to choose which path to take in managing their illness? Is the choice not to undergo chemo a ground for denying services like surgery? Thank you so much Doc.
In Iloilo, there was a pharmacy near the Iloilo provincial hospital being cater by the hospital. You go to the hospital pharmacy, there is no stock, you are told to go this small store, they have every things you need.

Sometimes, brand is important because ideally, "trusted" brands and companies really do their research - safety tests, drug testing, side effects, immediate and long-term effects. Kaya nga we have "trusted brands" kasi alam nating safe, effective. That being said, BK actually offers CHEAPER meds/ alternatives - to make healthcare and meds more accessible to the poor patients. E.g. popular VitC+ zinc brand =24.65 each vs. Civaz 7.75 each. Also, sa reseta, nakalagay din ang generic name so nasa patient din if they will buy the brand listed or some other.

DOH and PRC should be consulted on repeat violators. Tanggalan ng license to practice yung mga pasaway na doktor.
Why are doctors dictating the brand? They can provide info on the dosage and the name of the medicine but why push for a brand? Amplodipine is still amplodipine regardless of the brand. If they keep on dictating the brand then: 1. It's prone to corruption because makers of the medicines will bribe them to recommend only their brands. They might provide perks that are difficult to track. 2. They will only recommend the most expensive brands which are difficult for the average Filipino to purchase. 3. It won't be a level playing field for the makers of the different medicines. Local manufacturers and new entrants could be pushed out of business.
