The Chairman of the BBC Trust Lord Patten strongly rebuffs attempts by Tory MP Philip Davies to get him to reveal how much time he spends working on BBC business.
Bigmouth Philip Davies MP has since this been investigated by parliament for undeclared benefits and hospitality received from the betting industry. He still gets dollops of support from them, with one firm paying him £50k in 2020 alone for "advice" and he also received £11k in hospitality benefits in 2021 alone. It is presumably not a coincidence that he has sought to block regulatory curbs on the industry.
The point is... would you ask the same of every nurse, doctor, policeman, MP? All are public employees. The MP asking the question would refuse to do the same, i.e. the MP is performing for the cameras.
Unfortunately this Lord stands for what is wrong with this part of the British elite: Lack of interest in details, unwillingness to commit and work hard, trying to skirt through with language instead of skill.
Entitled snob, who doesn’t expect to have to justify himself when he is being paid by the public. I spend 4 days on BBC premises…does that infer that he is doing non BBC work using BBC facilities and resources?
Greg Dobson Lord Patten had absolutely nothing to do with it. He left the BBC Trust (an arms length body) in May 2014, three months before the raid on Cliff Richard’s house. In any case, the BBC Trust was completely separate to news gathering, and wouldn’t be involved in the decision to broadcast in most cases.

We love you Governor Patten
Typical Chanel 4 selective editing, right after they cut the clip of you find out he had 10 other jobs whilst working at the bbc.
Which amount to 20ish days a year
@@ironsideeve2955 he also worked evenings and weekends.
Who does he think he is?
We, the taxpayers are his bosses !
Yet, he can't be accountable for the mess of the BBC !

Stop buying a tv licence
Master and servant par excellence! Saor Alba !
Lord Pattern is entitled to respond the way he did as that mp was extremely rude. Needs to find ways to ask his questions politely.
I have to do a timesheet at work on jira where I have to log everything I work on each day
