Yeah, her philosophy on producing idols is that only a select few with the greatest aptitudes and brilliances can become idols like diamonds which have the highest values among all the jewels and those who are diamond in the rough or unpolished stones are hopeless or just not worth the chance. And, she wants them to take a path that will be the best for their careers even if that path isn't what their passionate about as an idol.
Not really satisfied with the ending. Preferred Uzuki to leave New Generations, join other idols, and let New Generations disband. Edit: After watching Love Live! and seeing μ's disband, I'm glad that the director or whoever thought of that was doing good work.
