My father planted a water oak trees in the yard when my sister and I were born, the trees grew up with us! One tree is 31 years old and my tree is 28 years old. :) I always thought that was a nifty idea.

Well, given that you apparently did have to specify one colour of columbine for your state flower - it certainly is a beautiful one. That flower looks gorgeous. I wish we British did these lovely sorts of things. I live in a county called Hertfordshire and on road signs there is a picture of a stag (old English word "hart" meaning stag/ deer - but spellings evolve with time I guess) which I do like but a beautiful flower for each of our counties would be lovely.

Loving the new intro!! :) I wanted to ask if you guys are doing anything for Penny and the kitties to help them understand that a new, permanant, family member is coming? You may see some behavioral changes with them and I know some books/classes recommend you carry around a baby doll, etc. to help ease the fur-babies into it. We let our cats inspect the crib and clothes, etc. but once that crying, squirmy baby is there it is a big adjustment for them. Just curious :)

That flower is a columbine, the state flower of Colorado. It only grows in high altitude or northern latitudes. Check out "American Basin" near Lake City, Colorado and you'll see see thousands of them. I think they are the most beautiful wild flowers.
