i have been to most of these places and i know to an extent of what your father felt, there was no place to hide, no place to cry, you had to fight. utmost respect from me
It is good that people continue to remember. My dad dropped into the Merville Battery aged 19. The experience impacted him for the rest of his life and affected him till the day he died. He was proud, I am proud of him but I wish that young people would consider the sacrifice of our armed forces now and then not only pshyically but mentally in their committment to fighting for freedom to live democratically.
Susan, My thanks and gratitude to your father. My uncle was KIA in a Stuka dive bomb attack in North Africa in November 1942. LIke you, I wonder if anyone remembers .... let alone cares. RIP Uncle Jim. I will never forget your sacrifice.
The german army had incredible constructions around the world .. I Know that their ideals were wrong but nobody can doubt his great and powerful technology. THE BEST .
i will tell you to say that there was proberly the biggests amount of deaths in france right there, it is beautiful. i went on a school trip for a week and it is amazing and it was such a dream come true because i had been dreaming about going to Normandy for more years then i can think it is amazing but also really sad at the american war memorial at omaha beach.
I wen't there when I was kid. When I got back I used the pictures and story for a primairy school presentation about the second world war. I got a 10 ^^
Everyone should visit the Beaches of Normandy, walk on Omaha Beach, and stroll between the 9,000+ crosses in the American Cemetery at Omaha Beach. Sacred ground. There isn't a day I don't remember the young men who sacrificed their lives for PEACE.
Never tire of Normandy a truly peaceful place and feel nothing but respect......
I fully agree!

Thank you for this. I'll probably never see Normandy in person, but this helps tremendously.

Muchas Gracias Kamille
