What is your opinion about using filter floss in the canister filter when running a saltwater reef tank? I notice that when I use filter floss, I lose a significant amount of water flow in 2 weeks.
Im making my first reef tank using a 90 gal tank. I have a nano that Ive been keeping for 3 months successfully with an AIO system but this 90gal tank will have (2) FX4, will this be enough you think and what tips can you give me with the canister filter? I am coming from the Freshwater world by the way.
Thanks for watching and commenting! After making this video and tweaking my lights some, I started experiencing some hair algae growth that I wasn't expecting, which was a little disappointing. That said, I decided not to go the reef route and purchased another undulated trigger. I still plan on using the FX4 and just got a sponge pre-filter for the intake and I plan on removing all of the sponges from the canister and just use bio and chemical media in it. Hopefully that helps. I like the canisters, you just have to be prepared to maintenance them frequently.

I've never done it, precisely for the reason you mention. I think it will clog much quicker than the various pads that can be used.
@@ChuckHorneTheLizardRoom I removed the filter floss and the flow has returned to normal again. Thanks!
