Its 5:25 pm and since Chris has a video ready, I`ll watch it first - then I will go and change out the faucet set on the utility sink. Just making sure my priorities are in the right order.
I am sitting here on a Friday thinking about the past work week and the differences between my desk job and what Chris does for a living. It might be the long week talking, and it’s a bit silly to say this, but Chris is literally changing the surface of a planet. Certain changes he has made will be around for hundreds if not thousands of years. Sure people might not know it was him, but still pretty cool. Anyway, back to the grind. I hope all are well that read this message.

Hey Chris, maybe in one episode you can do an in depth explanation of how you approach/visualize getting a site GRADED especially working with sloping grades.
On a regular basis. Do you have the proverbial "bubble in your butt"? Is it just luck that you get a push to go as far and thick as you want it? Viewers want to know.
That farmer will be glad when you're done. That land was pretty much unusable until you guys brought in that fill. If I remember correctly, it was basically a drop off in some areas before you started filling it. Now he has all this extra he wasn't able to use before.
And it saved a bunch of $ from the landfill ( not counting the material ) since they got to dump it all there to do that, It worked out Really well to have that.
When I was a 18 I worked for a guy doing dirt work. Mostly round pointed shovel operator. He asked me one day if I had dozer experience and could I carry a grade. I said sure. After about an hour he came up to me and said. Your doing good but don’t waste your time doing all those fancy wash board ripples and the ditches needed to be on the side of the road not in the middle.
We have all been there if we have run a dozers. Grading sand with a D6, all you had to remember was if it was going good lift your blade it was going to go down.
@@Skorpychan As a retired haggis herder, I can confirm that. The original site was also unsuitable though, as haggis breeding requires roughly conical shaped hills to allow for mating.
@@craigsmith8217 I guess that would make them either right or left legged. Now a feller's got to figure out if he's got a right or left sided hill. Dang complications! lol.
That was some beautiful dirt work Chris!!!! I can’t believe you could take such a massive volume of rock and dirt and turn it into a beautiful field after the grass grows!!! Great work!!! Good to know your cows will have more space now.
This is the video I've been looking forward to - seeing land fit for pasture made from rock, waste dirt & a layer of topsoil. Everybody wins from this.
Gonna be hard for him to explain. Either you got it or you don’t. He was born with the gift to visualize that stuff. It’s kind of like an interior decorator they just have that talent.
Playing in the dirt as a child with my metal Tonka trucks, dozers and excavator brought to real life form, I love it. Just pulling your leg, this is a lot of serious work that has to be done.
I always enjoy watching your shows , My dad used to be a heavy equipment operator in San Diego,Mostly big cat dozers and Michigan dozers , I don't think you could get his cat hat off him , Most of his Works were on interstates , Your show brings back many good memories, You do excellent work
Wonder if watching thousands of hours of these videos would help get me a job driving one of these machines. I am 78 got nothing else to do?? Thanks Chris for giving me such a education and training while I enjoy every moment of it.

Go to an auction get an old wheat drill.?drill in wheat or rye a then sow your grass seed then mow the wheat. It won't wash and gives grass a good start. Wheat does out after one year.
I can't read the grade for damn thing out of any camera view on anyones channel that does grading. Over the long run yeah but as you're making a pass with the dozer I can't tell where the high and low spots are at all. As a person that does grading, this has aggravated the shit out of me since I started watching grading on youtube. The finished product looked very nice overall. Stay well. -Wil 👍
I don't get some of the comment/concern over some possible future tract home builder possibly having to deal with the rock fill. They might not last very long under the current farleft wackocommunist regime, but for now the current land owner has more right to improve his property as he sees fit than some fictitious future developer. It's not like he's using it as a toxic landfill. And rock seems to be pretty common in the area. It's not clear if basements are as common, because of all of the rock.
Another transformation... as you end both the dig and dump sites please do a before and after of both... just to show perspective how huge this really was...

His parting shot. Make a nice cow pasture. I thought, "Who's the poor bugger that digs the post holes for the fence?"
In case it wasn't noticed, rock doesn't appear to be exactly non existent above or below grade in the area.
"I'll use these rocks as fill on another job" And the cycle repeats.
The land owner should be happy as hell. He has a lot more flat ground just in time for it to green up.
