    I've been on that ship over 100 times and the crew always was exceptional. I really don't know what went wrong there. And for the record the ship can travel up to 31.6 knots and not 29. Also, I have been to almost every ship in Greece and this is one of the best you'll find (in my opinion). Excellent video, again, thank for travelling mr. Travelling by ferry from Pireas to Crete (Heraklion or Chania) makes more sense when you travel at night. The ferry starts at 9 or 10 pm and arrives at about 6 am. You don't get to pay for an extra night at a hotel, and you arrive early enough to see the city before it gets busy. A good sleep always makes a travelling shortest.

    As a Cretan, I will tell you. Boats generally are the cheap option. Even the cabin tickets. The best way is the airplane. Lux Deluxe are good as you said, but not enough. And have in mind that this is probably the best service on Greek Ferries. Please please make an Athens - Thessaloniki TRAIN trip next!

      @@skoy21 If you book early, of course it will be cheaper, you can find even lower prices a lot before. So, if you like cruise trips, try this one: Kiel (Germany) to Oslo (Norway). You travel 20 Hours in a Cruiseship, but the trip is classified as a ferrytrip (but on a Cruiseship). In these Ships on this Route, there is so much to do in these 20 Hours.... Spa, Fitness, Theater, Club, serveral resturants and bars, shopping, fine food, shops, .... Maybe this is something for you. You might head to Hamburg, Germany, and ride one hour per bus, taxt, train... to Kiel and then go on the luxury ferry. You will be impressed :D

    Outstanding review. I have always jumped at the chance of traveling by ferry if its available. Years ago, I would book a room on the night ferry from Hong Kong to Macao. It was an old ship that took a little over 3 hours. You could sleep in your room after arrival until departing in the morning thus not having to get a hotel room in Macao. The high speed Boeing hydrofoil was a fun way to come back to Hong Kong and took only a little over 1 hour. Nowadays you can just drive over under an hour. I miss that old fashioned way to travel. It felt like embarking on an exciting journey and made me imagine what the area was like in in the 1930's. I love the history of Hong Kong. It has always been my favorite city in the world. Thanks Jeb for bringing back some wonderful memories for me. 👍❤🛳🙏🌎

    You do not save too much time if you fly to herakleion.
    Athens to Airport: 1 hour travel
    Airport to flight departure: 2 hours
    Flight to Herakleion: 1 hour plus baggage delivery
    Taxi to Herakleion: 20 min.
    So 4 to 5 hours to get to your destination by plane. Plus all the airport security hassle, long lines etc. Makes the ferry option very appealing.

    • @koliniatisprivatecompany7799
      @koliniatisprivatecompany7799 3 года назад +1

      Yeah, but add the trip to Pireaus, about the same time as the airport from about half of Athens. Wait time at the port before boarding, especially if you have luggage. Then waiting to pick up your luggage from the ruck after the trip, and most of the things you say take time by boat as well. Depending on how far the airport or the port is from your house, and how far is your destination from the port or Airport in Herakleion. For instance from my house in Athens it takes less time to get to the airport than the port, during normal hours. During rush hour, it's no contest, airport wins easily.
      So it's definitely faster by plane. Way faster. The only reason to take the boat, would be if you have lots of luggage, or a car. (And of course to save money)

      Flight to Heraklion 40min + luggage delivery
      I would say 3 hours MAX.

    Best of the lot (jointly with the Knossos Palace, obviously). Easily the finest ferries on which I've ever travelled. As for crew: utterly superb, there when needed, invisible when not. Just as they should be!

    Amazing ferry! Loved when I got the chance to travel with her! Surprisingly enough, even the “non deluxe” cabins are very spacious and comfortable. And another thing (maybe someone else already mentioned it) : in Greece we don’t have terminals for the ferries. So no special embarkation for passengers and cars. And it’s not Minoan’s fault or any company’s. So I feel 0 stars for that is kind of unfair.

    There are at least two Japanese RUclipsrs who have travel videos within Japan, all sorts of travel, but quite a few on fancy ferries like this. Mostly they take overnight trips in different levels of "deluxeness." Everything from capsule rooms to luxury suites. The onboard restaurants are interesting, too--and there was one that had only vending machines and the trip was two nights! Anyway, I guess my point is that in a country with a lot of different islands it's not that uncommon to have these big fancy ferries.

    if you think this was huge, i reccomend taking a trip with the Color Line Ferry down from Oslo to Kiel and back! it's an amazing journey, and feels like you're on a cruise ship, even though it's a normal trip between Norway and Germany!

    I love travelling by ferry. As a backpacker with a Eurail pass back in the day, I took the ferry from Brindisi to Greece via Corfu. Eurail got you a deck pass, only paying some taxes. I wanna say it was 18 hours...but we had access to everything on the ship.
    Even then, I saw lots of people with Canadian flags on their backpacks. Kinda funny to a young American guy that never had any problems whatsoever.

    • @zork999
      @zork999 11 месяцев назад +1

      In 1978 I did the Eurailpass thing for the summer. I took the Brindisi to Greece ferry (after an extra 24 hours on our trip from Milan mostly spent sitting in fields while our train fried, horrible trip), but my favorite was the Silja Line from Stockholm to Helsinki. Of course, we just had the free deck passage, but it was a beautiful night and we took our sleeping bags up to the helicopter deck just behind the ship's funnels and slept under the stars. It was a fantastic view!
