      I do know he over worked Elvis in Las Vegas. He could have gotten the same amount of money for one show a day. As he got for two. He also should have let Elvis work for a month then have two weeks off. Instead of thirty days at two shows a Day everyday. It cost Elvis his health and his relationships.

      @@Cynthia00007 there were people around Elvis who took advantage I do think that's true. I think Colonel Parker gets picked on when he should not if you know his history. Long story short he booked Grand Ole Opry Stars way before he knew Elvis. He picked up Eddy Arnold and took him to the number one spot worldwide as a country artist. After dealing with Eddie Arnold he picked up Hank Snow and took him to the number one spot in country music worldwide. Hank Snow came to him and said he heard a little boy with a strange name that him in the colonel a lot to go in partners on. Well the colonel went to see this guy with a strange name. Colonel signed a contract with this guy by his self and drop daddy Arnold. It was not the usual agent manager type contract. It was a partnership agreement. The colonel would have no other clients although he could have made a fortune other people begged him to manage him. It truly was a partnership unlike any other show Business. Colonel Parker always got Elvis more money than anyone had ever got for every project they ever did. There's a lot more details but the more you dig the more you'll learn the colonel lived breathe and died Elvis. I agree with you let's celebrate Elvis and what he did and left for mankind. But we have to acknowledge when he died Colonel Parker created all the rights that artists have after death. Behind the scenes Colonel Parker still work with Priscilla Presley to help take care of the state although Colonel remained unpaid. They built a nearly bankrupt estate into a huge success still making tens of millions of dollars each year. We're almost the man all we can say is rest in peace. For Elvis the empire we celebrate every year. By the way I went to the first 40 candlelight ceremonies. I got to see the real guy in concert back in the 70s. I feel so lucky for that. Now I'm celebrating 50 years myself but performing Elvis music.

    He ( Parker) definitely did something right in the beginning of Elvis' career but I am not too sure about after Elvis came out of the army. Why did he need to have so much control over Elvis' career...and stifle him and his talent? Apart from making Elvis and himself rich he should have also looked out for Elvis' well-being and should have been a good- friend to his client instead of using him as a mealticket.
    He lied when he told Gladys Presley: "I'll be like a father-figure to your son ."

    No one is more responsible for Elvis's death than Col. Parker is. No one. And, there are plenty of contenders for the award of who pushed Elvis to his eventual death, including Elvis himself.
    Let's look at a few. Priscilla. She publically humiliated a proud man by flaunting her affair with Mike Stone. Then she took his child and moved to LA so that Lisa Maria was halfway across the world from Elvis. And, then she mocked Elvis and made fun of him because she was now Hollywood chic and Elvis was a hick in her world.
    Next, Red and Sonny West. Their tell-all book about Elvis was the ultimate knife in his back. Their saying it was a "wake up" call for Elvis was pure BS. It was a revenge book and a book for cash because Elvis had fired them with little compensation. This book literally was a knife in Elvis's heart and an ultimate betrayal.
    Dr. Nick could backtrack all he wanted while he was alive with how he tried to get Elvis off of the pills but the fact of the matter is he prescribed incredible amounts of narcotics and benzos that Elvis consumed. Eventually, he lost his license to practice medicine because even after Elvis died he continued to push pills for money and to hobnob with the famous.
    Joe Esposito, Dr. Nick and others roped Elvis into a racketball scam where they told Elvis they just wanted to use his name to open some courts. Turns out it was not just his name they wanted but hundreds of thousands of dollars. Coupled with the fact that Joe Esposito was a mole for the Colonel.
    Ginger. Ginger Alden was using Elvis for fame and money and was just not that into him. She was not even planning on going on the last concert tour Elvis was leaving for that day.
    Lastly, the Colonel. This man was a monster. Yes, he gave Elvis his start and then he milked him for everything he could. He did not care about Elvis or his health he worked him like a dog until he broke him.
    He literally took a good-hearted boy and forced him into humiliating movies just to make a dime. He prevented Elvis from touring the world because he was not a US citizen and was afraid that might expose him. After he contracted Elvis into working seven days a week for a month doing two shows he broke him. When Elvis could not go on, Parker got him down second rate city tours over and over. Elvis was going nowhere, he was sick, broken down, addicted, overweight, but the Colonel did not care as long as he could make a dime off of his "boy".
    Elvis was surrounded by backstabbers and users. He had no one to turn to. He was alone and broken.

    @Zecalran Have you read the Alana Nash book THE COLONEL? It's very detailed and can get a little boring at places with too many details but there is such an insight there. @theperkinsbrothers .....until today. He saved the celebrity rights and helped Priscilla to manage to turn Graceland into an industry. Read that book, ALANA NASH.....THE COLONEL. Viva Elvis

    The title of COLONEL that many states issue, including my home state of KY is all about honoring charity or civic work. It is a granted title. It is not "bogus". It is not a military title. Parker was in the military but was discharged due to mental illness. Colonel Parker was never a murder suspect by any law enforcement agency but in her books Alana Nash draws conclusions that he should have been and that was his motivation for leaving his home country.

  • @theperkinsbrothers
    @theperkinsbrothers 11 лет назад

    I never worked to get a governor elected or donated to a governor and I got a Ky Colonelship for charity work. Please google what State Colonelships are so you can understand because I must be doing a poor job explaining it.

  • @theperkinsbrothers
    @theperkinsbrothers 11 лет назад

    No there was no evidence to charge him.Alana Nash will tell you she simply found the incident occurred at the correct time to have been the motivating factor of Tom Parker leaving his home country.She will state she is only guessing about that and drawing her own conclusions, but no law enforcement ever tried to connect the Colonel leaving with the death of a local.Elvis could not tour overseas for more reasons than most admit but I don't care to get into that on here.Think about it, customs?

    I think there are millions worldwide who might challenge you on thinking that Colonel Parker did no good. Without Colonel Parker there would not have been an Elvis legend for us to enjoy.

  • @theperkinsbrothers

    At the time of the RCA oldies deal there was no oldies industry. Old catalogs were considered of little value. Elvis went broke. Colonel went to work and produced millions of income to save the day again. Colonel Parker did create the "make money" after death industry. Without the deal with Factors, which had the legal management to protect the rights, all would have been lost. Thank you Colonel

    I like the body of work Elvis left and since he is the biggest ever star I am guessing that means most agree with me that the work was valid.Elvis benefited from the shared publishing deal also and did not complain about getting the extra money.I like the songs Elvis did.

    Courts can be critical of anything, but that does not make it right or wrong. There is a reason it is called issuing an opinion. What counts is the COURT ORDER that is issued at the end.

    If the contracts were scams then the courts could have, and would have set them aside and went after the Colonel to recover funds not due, but that was not the case. The estate had to pay the Colonel the money it owed him.

      theperkinsbrothers legal scams. Music contracts can be fucked up as hell, but the blame will still fall on artist for not reading it or hiring a lawyer to read over it. Record lables and managers take advantage of ignorant music artist, thats just the shitty reality of it.

    I enjoyed all those "sh*t" movies.I have even collected them all. If you want to know what stopped Elvis from acting in "good roles" as you describe them, read the Alana Nash book, and many of the others The Colonel did place Elvis in "acting" movies. They made far less money. Colonel gave Elvis a choice, do you want to be successful and have money or do you want to do the movies your way? Elvis made the choice.This is confirmed by many people, including directors who wanted E to fight back

  • @theperkinsbrothers
    @theperkinsbrothers 11 лет назад

    I loved the movies and they were all profitable so it seems many others agree with me on the entertainment they were to us.Elvis turned down A star is born because the role was a little too close to home at that moment. Many people want to make the Colonel the bad guy but he does not deserve that title.Colonel's history:, he took Eddie Arnold to number one, then the same with Hank Snow.There has never been a manager to equal the accomplishments of the Colonel.Elvis was always paid top dollar.

    Elvis went broke during his career more than once and the Colonel pulled a rabbit out of magic hat and produced money from what others thought was nothing. The more you learn the more you will understand it was a partnership and a great one, the most successful one show business has ever known.

    Management deals are worked out between artists and managers and can be any percentage. Ask Cheech and Chong about the deal they cut giving their guy 90%. In some States agents are restricted to 10% and can not be both manager and agent. Elvis and Colonel Parkers deal was a contracted partnership. Remember the Courts investigated and in the end the estate owed Colonel Parker millions, not the other way around.

      No you're wrong, Elvis Presley killed Elvis Presley, Parker got the deals he did not live with him, do you tell your boss what you do in your private life. Parker did not hold a gun to his head and say take drugs, he did it all by himself.

    • @kimdanielthorkildsen7659

      Elvis had some bad habit, including the pills and eating typical southern cuisine, but when you had that type of touring schedule the colonel Parker put him under, just so he could have his losses covered at the casinos didn't make it any better. I'll give you an example: when elvis was in Louisville Kentucky, and this is only a few months before Elvis died, colonel Parker visited elvis. Elvis had a fever, he felt nauseous, felt flu like, and was barely even conscious at the time the colonel came. The only thing Parker said was "the only thing that's important is that that man is on stage tonight. Nothing else matters. Nothing" to me it sounds like Parker used him as his own personal cash cow.

  • @xxj45r1

    This makes absolutely no sense. Elvis was not the brightest bulb in the pack and the few interviews that he had in the early years showed he had the reasoning power of a third grader. Parker had at least a fifth grade education.
