I know that this video was made over two years ago but I thought that I might pop in to tell you guys the meaning of this song and the music video. So Kenshi Yonezu wrote this song and was originally going to name it Mementos but after the death of his grandpa he began to have a new prospective on death. So he changed the name and some lyrics to fit the new name Lemon. In the chorus some of the lines can translate to "Even all the sadness from those days I still loved it with you" and "This bitter scent of lemon that is embedded in my heart". In the music video you can see that there is a girl dancing. This girl is presumed to be dead and she is dancing in the church to try and get people to notice her. This is also the reason that Yonezu-San in seen wearing high heals. You can see that the girl is wearing the same high heals so this is a representation of him remembering her in correlation to the previous title "mementos". There are also lines like "I can't go home until the rain lets up" I believe that these lines are to represent the pain of having to move on from the death of a loved one. In the video there is also the scene of the people in the circle who are one by one visited by the girl as she gives them her blessing and their memories of her. So in short the song and music video are about having to move on from the death of a loved on but how that sadness and the "bitterness of a lemon" will never go away but you must be at peace with that. Sorry I'm not the best at writing but I hope this came in handy for someone!!
