My B&T is now 13 and she’s just an angel. When I worked for a vet. Clients would ask me what kind of dogs I have. I would say one is a Black and Tan coonhound. The senior aged clients would light up. Many of them would say “I had one when I was a child. That was one of the best dogs I’ve ever had!” Needless to say this breed leaves a impression unlike any other breed I’ve worked with. And I’m pretty sure I will be having more in the future.
They're very similar to Blueticks, they drool, can be food aggressive, loud at times and stubborn beyond belief, but buckets and buckets of love and companionship. We've had multiple blueticks and they are simply the best dogs ever. They will imprint with 1 family member in particular and that bond will be unbreakable, they can sometimes be very sensitive as our experience with them lends to the impression that their intuition is almost off the chart. Very, very intelligent, don't let the droopy eyes and long ears fool you, these dogs are problem solvers. If everyone had a hound, the world would be a better place.

We have a Black & Tan coonhound named Smokey Bones! Smokey is 3 years old and very lazy! His other owners didn’t want him no more because he had no interest in hunting! Like really you get rid of your dog because he doesn’t have interest in hunting? That’s bullcrap to me! He is such a sweet boy and loves my son’s🐶
I have had them. Have one reserved for us when we move into the house we have been building for a number of years, by ourselves. We are so excited. Our love for the black and tan knows no bounds.
Angel Martin angel don’t let her go if can help it. They can be a little stubborn but I attribute that to their intelligence and survival instincts. Absolutely the finest dog you will find. My first one was a lost female who wandered into my camp in Northern Ontario. Had obviously be living alone for a long time and survived. Soon delivered 23 pups! At the time the world record was 23. Keep her, you may thank me in years to come.

Haha we found one abandoned on the side of the road that was dumped. Flash forward 6 months, best dog ever..some people are just silly.
Well... if they got him for hunting then I understand them moving the dog along.

Are they known for being extremely obedient and easy going? A lost female just wandered up to me in the yard last night. Amazingly good dog.
