I had one of these when I was a Security Guard at Construction sites. Sitting in my car all night, it was a God send. I used mine 3 times a day for years. Great Vid!!!☕
Watched through and went to see you other videos expecting you to have a few million subs. I’m shocked that you don’t. Genuinely great entertaining content brother. Thank you
A car sous vide! Just put in some salmon with some oil or butter, herps and seasoning and you're good to go once you arrive. Even faster when the wiring catches fire. Lovely vids as always!
When I used to drive around with a international scout club they would frequently stick cans of food on top of their engines or exhaust manifolds to warm them up while driving. Worked way better than your danger device.
18:21 I will have to disagree on that "better wiring" claim. While removing some terrible aftermarket wiring, I was positively surprised to see how massive the (rear) 12v socket's wiring is on a 2012 Audi Q3 TDI. Didn't look at the front one, but at a glance, it seemed similar. While on many older vehicles, the socket only had a relatively thin wire and is grounded through its mounts, Audi is now using what looks to be at least 7AWG wiring for power and ground, along with a (very reasonable) 30A fuse and rather solid socket. I guess they learned from previous issues caused by electric coolers and power inverters overloading the wiring.
I have been using a 230v 500W coffee maker for years and it works great on the inverter. Brewing a cup of coffee takes 3 minutes. In the past I had a 12v coffee maker. It took a very long time and it used a lot of power.
this was for those guys that the statutory rock songs were about in the 70s - the dudes who pretty much lived in a customized van and rambled all around the country.
Funny watch! I did load up that thermos before my trip... but 7 years in, it's pretty much just a few damp (and moldy) coffee grounds left in there. I eventually removed the aimer-things from a heater-vent, and shove the can in there during a drive... after a 15min drive it can be pretty warm. But, yeah, not-so-easy to make coffee or ramen that way. I got one of those drop-in heaters, but had the same problem with voltage drop. Washing all these things, though, is quite difficult... coffee-flavored ramen ain't so great.
Slight improvement over the hot dog maker you reviewed. This is now my favorite cooking channel. I heard about people cooking fish wrapped in tinfoil on the engine block while driving. Maybe try that in the next video 🤣
They still make the little 'stinger' coils and sell them at truck stops. Those are just 12V resistive heaters you drop into a mug (metal, presumably, so it doesn't melt). Prisoners also make them for the same purpose, if they don't have a microwave to heat water.
Guaranteed that you'll have a boiling hot beverage spilled into your lap as you speed down the highway..... ;) Concerning the Thermos. The one's with the double insulated glass lining work great, though the seal between the glass liner and top do dry out over time. The later units with the stainless steel liner, not so great.
You should have added yellow food coloring to your water so that when you pour it outside.... hehe @22:03 How many cracks have formed in the base of that coffee/beverage/soup heater? Most importantly though..... What would mother say about eating in your car? ;o)
I feel like I really learned something today. I feel as if I now know of the existence of something, that I will never use, and that will be filed in the dusty mental files, which contain things like the logos of long-dead retail store chains, bits of A-Team plots, and Micronaut stuff, like Rocket Tubes. This data will never be used, but it will be there forever, occasionally to be remembered, and of no use whatsoever. Great video!
I find it mildly amusing how in the preamble you suppose it would be better for tea - a tea _bag_ would be also be very bitter when boiled (simmered?) in-situ like that. Plus there's still an issue of milk, unless you take the tea much weaker than coffee! Though it's worth saying, the strainer makes a little more sense for if you'd put loose tea leaves in there. (That would also be ever so slightly less bitter than a tea bag.) Since even fancy tea sets often poured through a strainer, and it doesn't hinder the flow of the liquid that much. Maybe they were just expecting you to throw the grounds/leaves out your window or something... Worth noting I don't favour coffee or tea, I grind my own coffee beans by hand and also buy whole-leaf tea (not half-leaves or crushed "fines") 😅 and I'm careful about the extraction temp for both. This product is decidedly... not for people like me.
Thermos won't help with heating that can of ravioli if you had to buy lunch at the local gas station in May near Talkeetna, who hasn't had their microwave fixed/replaced since last tourist season (June-Aug) when it blew a fuse.... and you've been 10 hours longer than you expected because AkDoT decided to close the freaking highway to replace a bridge on short notice... And thermoses themselves aren't so hot (pun intended) when you're on student drop-opp at -20°C... it's amazing just how much heat them suckers can pass through the mouth junction.
It's strange seeing you in snow while it's 20°C here in the UK. When does spring happen for you? Also, I was in genuine fear of you needing a skin graft at certain points of the video. That or a car fire happening.
If you're that desperate for food on the road, I'd suggest just getting a small camping stove. Pull over and make your food that way... be far less effort and have better results too.
How did you not spill anything in the car LOL? I recently got a similar 80's automotive coffee maker from my mom who wanted to get rid of it. I took it apart to see how it works and was surprised about its low quality and level of danger.
Let's see... Coffee maker/beverage warmer...check 30 Amp 12 VDC line...check 2 cases of bottled water...check 2 cases of assorted canned food or MREs...check 2 canisters of Yuban instant coffee...check Utensils, sugar, spices, larger cups...check Laughing at other drivers who have to leave the freeway to visit a local diner...priceless. 😂 I wonder how well this works with MREs and Keurig K-Cups?
That's a hallway with a bookshelf at the end and some RL02 disks stacked against the wall. Watch the very beginning of my renovation video and you get to see it but otherwise that's not actually part of the set.
You know as gimmicky and cheapo as those things are, I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to go get one and already have several in my ebay, cart... hahaha.
@@CelGenStudios I was thinking that if I did actually get one ( I may or may not have "accidently" bid on one) I could use my Ecoflow Delta 2 1024wh 1800 watt power station. Do you think that would help mitigate the fire risk ?
Aah, how incredibly adorably shitty those old car accesories were. There were also countless shitty car vacuums from Japan, from the time before Japan actually made really good stuff.

Mmmm Chef Boyardee, wonderful bachelor food!
And Dinty Moore. Also, frozen waffles and tomato soup.

Noodles in a cup might sound good in the middle of a six hour winter traffic jam.

I think it's safe to use while driving so you can set it up, keep driving, then stop again when it's done.?
That all looks pretty interesting.

I was in Toronto last year, tasted those Tim Hortons coffees everybody was walking with in the street, and well, I can tell I was not impressed 😅

Why does the corner of your room look weird. Do a video showing us what the left side wall is - I can't figure it out.
