Especially like the Frank Lloyd wright roof the long overhanging over the property around the house which actually protected the house from the rain and kept the house cooler naturally
The Lighthouse and Queen Mary are my newer digs. Grew up in the South Bay and those three beaches over 35 years. I remember the fires and the boulders from the break wall flying through the air from an El Nino swell that was EPIC !!!!! Thanks for the great shots and great history lesson.
I grew up in Torrance and walked or rode my bike to the beach in the eighties. It was more working class and middle class when I was a kid. Tons of people worked in the Oil refineries, and in Aerospace. Democrat "environmentalists" and BIG on regulations and Socialism( while they took over California along with the RINOS ) helped destroy everything. Nothing like Dystopia!!
The city council wanted to make a fricken mall on that land the Pier sits on.. They just wanted it built their own way( whatever that is) and kept messing w/ Shark Attacks' lease and HARRASSING Fun Factorys' owner till he closed.. Pollys' On The Pier was forced away from the other small pier near a boat launch to a corner near a bar- out of business- All three..
They need to get the homeless guy off the pier . He's got one section of the pier locked up. And has about 6 fishing poles he's there 24/7 .no chance for others to fish on that corner . In front of bait shop. Pier is going down hill.
Lol...where? Maybe in North Redondo on the border of Lawndale you'll see SOME crazy people but nowhere near anything you see in other places in L.A. county. Born and raised in Redondo and I love my city
@@snakepl1skin South Redondo isn't ghetto and neither are any of the beach cities. You must be thinking of another community. Beach cities are probably not your cup of tea..
You must have NO idea how better the place became with a break wall. The old Pier was more fun,but at least it was RE- built. My problem is that they started " gentrification" and it IS going to do one of two things... Be RE- modeled and IT WILL LOSE WHAT'S LEFT OF ITS' CHARM,OR IT WILL GO DOWN HILL BECAUSE THE CITY NEGLECTED REPAIRS..TO GET RID OF OLDER TENANTS.
I love Redondo, wouldn't want to live anywhere else!
My home right behind pier since 1995. Best place on the planet.
Frank loyd Wright is a legend. The waterfall house he made is beautiful
Dude walked around wearing a cape.

I lived in this city for over 5 years. It’s really beautiful and geared towards families.
ABSOLUTELY A GEM IN THE CROWN OF CALIFORNIA!
I grew up swimming at the Sea Side Lagoon ♥️
Let me know when you start turning into Spiderman or Spidergirl. jk
good news instead of bad news.
I worked in the Riveria Village part of Redondo Beach, and our office had clients all through Palos Verdes to the south. Beautiful area... miss it! 😢

Glad you like longbeach, such a hidden gem.
He said the predecessor burned down in the 80’s? When I was a kid, the entire thing was wood, the concrete was added later. That’s interesting.
Remember the fire that gutted Tony’s I was a kid.
Tony’s is still there. It gutted cattlemen’s
Thanks, CBS Los Angeles, for this info, please do more
Nice!
Yes that was our old stomping grounds in the '60s and early seventies,

Demi Moore lived here when she was in high school...😁
Nice area. I wonder how much rent is there.
LOL Alot.
Good lucky trying to find parking
Depending on the time of day you go, plenty of spots at the esplanade.
Looks like a paradise for the rich :/

WOW!!!!WARM WATER COMES FROM BEING HEATED IN A BOILER!!!!!
Wyland's art is still on the old Edison plant? I used to live 3 blocks from here as a kid, turned me into a total beach / surf bum.
They didn't mention they closed down the Fun Factory.
That still upsets me😞
