How to Pair Huawei Watch D with Android Phone?

Just installed Huawei Health on my brand new Xiaomi Redmi 12 pro+ G5 and it works perfectly. I was in an electronics store earlier today and they told me it cant work and I will have to buy a new Redmi watch. I have a 2 year old Huawei GT2 and am happy with it. Thanks for the help.
