Okay so basically, like everyone is saying, i wont say much to avoid spoilers for you, but whem you talk to the guide and click crafting and drag any items labeled materials it will tell you everything you can craft, also if you click the hammer next to the crafting menu it expands it showing more items, also when you open your inventory look on the right side of the screen and click the house, it shows all the npcs you have and dont have, and when you're in that menu you can click the question mark and click on your houses and it will tell you what youre missing for an npc to move in. There are also called accessories which can enhance your play through making different weapons or items do different things, and when you're exploring the purple biome there is a way to obtain a gun there, and also when you're in the inventory there is a book under your coins and it tells you what biomes npcs like which is important to get pylons, which can teleport you to them as long as npcs are nearby but they have to like the biome to sell a pylon, and also a important tip the npcs in close proximity the expensive their items get. Hope this helps and i hope i didn't get too spoilery i wish you luck on your adventure fellow Terrarian!

Oh and btw when you referenced Zelda I don't know if you noticed but the fairy achievement is a reference to the game, there is actually a lot of references to youtubers and other games. The devs of Terraria are releasing a new final update for the game sometime soon I believe, and also I forgot to mention, there is also a whole wiki for Terraria so if you have any burning questions that you can't seem to answer by playing the wiki has everything you need to know! 👍🏻 once again good luck and I hope you continue enjoying the game, and I also wanna that I apologize Subnautica got ruined for you by the community because that is one of my favorite games along with Terraria, but I completely understand the frustration of spoilers and can only imagine what its like to have a fan base come after you for trying to enjoy a game.

i suggest you to stick to 1 singular class as well because it will be easier to know what to get next and you should also be changing your keybinds to your preference. (to change your keybinds press escape>settings (in the bottom right)>controls)
To stay with a class you should go and look at the damage of specific weapons.
Summon Damage is for summoners (whips, summons, sentries)
Magic Damage is for mages (rods, staffs, ect)
Ranged Damage is for rangers (arrows, bows, guns, ect)
Melee Damage is for melee and tankers (swords, shortswords, broadswords, boomerangs, ect)
You can look at the tool tips of weapons by hovering over them in the inventory and checking its damage like you found out about which looks like (dmg amount) (class) damage
      e.g.
      52 Magic Damage
      49 Melee Damage
      29 Ranged Damage
      10 Summoner Damage
If your digging straight down, you can use bombs dropped by the little pots on the ground or in chests you can find on the surface and bought by the demolition who sells bombs after youve obtained atleast 1 grenade, dynamite, or bomb. Use the boom shuriken also bought by the demolition to quickly dig down. (i would use bombs and boom shurikens)
To quickly buy things from npcs is to hold down on the item you want to buy bulk in.
If you dont like losing all of your gold coins to dying, you can put it in a piggy bank bought from the merchant. You can use money that is in the piggy to buy stuff without needing it to be in your inventory.
If you ever get bored, keep exploring or digging down because there might be a surprise.
If your having trouble sorting things in your inventory, press the sort items button on the right in your inventory.
If you get an item that says something like "press down twice to go into stealth mode" it means to press s 2 times
      e.g. with the stepstool
hold up (w) to use the item
There are quick use buttons such as H to quickly use a healing potion or B to use all of your potions to buff
If you need better armor you might want to make use of those cactuses from last video in the end.
If you want to be making shit bocks, i suggest you to get wires but i wont spoil that.
The purple biome is called the corruption and is the disease like infection in your world.
Red is for the crimson biome
Id use Corruption for normal, vanilla terraria but I would use Crimson if you ever plan on playing modded terraria.
If you want an easy way to teleport straight home is to use either the recall potions you got or the magic mirror found in the underground chests and in those abandoned houses. (you can also use an ice mirror found in the underground ice biome)
Hope you have a good day, new terrarian!
      Edit: I love your videos

I know someone else already said it but my tip would be: Press control to switch on/off smart cursor. You can tell it is on because blocks will highlight yellow when holding tools/torches. With it on for mining you can just move your mouse in the general direction you want to go and it will automatically mine those blocks. You wont have to "swing the pickaxe at the air for 5 minutes" anymore trying to be pixel perfect lol. you can also place torches a lot faster by not having to touch the specific block with your mouse.
There are certain instances where you want to mine individual blocks e.g. only the second block around you and not the block directly next to you (mining near lava in particular) But in general playing with it on will make your life so much easier.
I am here for the ride, your personality definitely shines through in these videos! Keep up the amazing work, I look forward to the next upload!

  • @dripdog4233
    @dripdog4233 Час назад +2

Hold Shift to automatically switch to your torches. After letting go of shift you will go back to the item you last held. You can also tank a lot of stuff when youre mining since youre on the classic (easy) difficulty so theres no need to run away (for most things). If you do need to run back though just use the recall potions you have, or something else ;), which tp you to spawn or a set spawn point. You should also just mine deeper since I dont think you even made it to the cavern layer which is where most of the loot is. You also cant have houses with platforms below them as the whole floor or else NPCs wont move in to them (like the one with the toilet). You need some solid blocks for the floor. You can check if a housing is suitable for an NPC by going to where your armour is and clicking the house icon. It should have a list of all the NPC's in your world and a question mark. If you click the question mark then click again in a house you want to check it will tell you if it's suitable or not. you should make your houses a bit bigger (minimum 10 blocks wide and 6 blocks tall but you can change the width if you want but height should stay at around 6). You need to keep the work bench by the way and the heavy one is just for special crafting which isnt needed too much. When you see an item that says "quick" or "violent" that is just a modifier that grants extra stats which you can see highlighted in red/green (depending if its good or bad) on that item. I also really recommend playing zoomed out when mining or exploring because you can miss a lot of stuff. Last tip is if you hold a block in your inventory and hold down on another block thats placed down, you can swap them (please do this with the dirt floor and make it wooden/stone). The limit is your pickaxe power, so you can only block swap stuff that you can mine. Loving this series so far. I hope that this helps and that theres another episode : )

About npc housing… it requires the following components:
    Solid blocks to stand on,
A chair, table, a light source, and an entrance in some way. An “entrance” means it can’t be just an enclosed space. It needs platforms and or a door. Keep in mind since it’s a very common mistake: You can’t just place platforms as the floor. The NPC’s need at least 2 solid blocks to stand on. (it could be 1 but I’m not too sure)

This playthrough is great. There is one tip I want to give since it's hard to really find out inside the game itself.
Pressing control activates smart cursor. This lets you just put cursor in the general direction of what you're doing instead of the exact tile. This is immensely helpful for mining, placing torches, background walls, and most things. I tend to almost always play with it on unless I realize it is making some really specific thing harder.

Something worth mentioning for potential future playthroughs to eliminate confusion: the basic ores have counterparts, if your world generates with a specific ore, then it won't generate with its counterpart. from what you've seen:
    Copper & Tin are counterparts
    Iron & Lead
    Silver & Tungsten
and Gold & Platinum. So because you have Tungsten and Gold in your world, you cannot naturally find Platinum and Silver veins.

Still odd that they bothered with different stats instead of just copy-pasting and changing the color.

    1. Every item that has the word 'material' in its description can be used for crafting. You should show them to the guide.

Tips and comments below! I'll try to avoid spoilers, just focusing on mechanics and the obvious.
A Matching armor set has a set bonus. Could be mining speed, could change how you play.
You'll want a fairly big home for yourself lol. You need the room for your crafting stations and item storage. You need wall blocks (the not solid ones) and good lighting to keep mobs from spawning inside your home. Floating homes are pretty good if you keep losing doors or NPCs let mobs inside. Underground homes are OK too. You don't have much room for tall or high homes in a small world though.
Use the smart cursor toggle when digging to avoid just swinging at air for a while. It's a really useful toggle dangit, and it's on your keyboard. Just press Ctr. You've used it seemingly by accident.
When jumping onto a rope you grab them by holding up (W). This makes hopping from rope to rope easier.
The purple on the stone was a type of moss. There's several colors of moss but you need a special thing to grab any.
You can build a building with room for multiple NPCs but they get whiney when crowded (4+ too close together). Also they price gouge you. NPC's have unique dialogue based on which other NPC's are around. How much they like others or what they've done, ect. Enough NPCs also makes a peaceful zone. It's already happened to you but you didn't seem to notice.
The world's name is whatever you named it. Congrats, you're a Phuckian.
    Oooh, nymphs are rare.
You can coil up your rope in the crafting menu and throw it.
You can use a toilet when you have a food buff active. You didn't when you tried. I recommend doing so, the reward is great!
The Corruption! That's fun lol. Also I had to bite back several spoilers.

Use shift to place torches, buy glowsticks from the merchant and press left control to use smart cursor - it breaks the blocks in the direction of your cursor instead of the ones its sitting on. In the house you can put however many platforms you want, but the table should sit on a block to be a valid housing. Make sure there is enough space around the table and chair.

    Some bullshit guides(no spoil):
1- this game has 4 diffrent damage types which are called classes which you can play with one of them or mix them
2- after making a full armor set of at least tungsten it's better for you to go and search the jungle biome underground, it just gives you too much good stuff for each class
3- for making a bed you need 5 silks, for making silk you need to have cobweb and then you can turn that cobweb to silk when you stand near a loom, for making a loom you need a sawmill and some wood, for making a sawmill you need a chain, iron/lead bars and some wood and at last for making chain you need iron/lead bars

Here's a tip which is better to do in early game:
    1. There's this item called pylon in the game. This item will help you travel faster from biome to biome.
If you make houses for at least 2 NPCs in biomes they like, they will sell you this item.
If you don't want to refer to the Wiki for this you can refer to the in game bestiary below your ammo and coin slot.
    2. You can sort your items and also quick stack items in your inventory into chests with the same items with the buttons beside the said bestiary earlier.

I saw so your two videos and here a few spoilerfree tips :
    - You have both work bench and table in an house, you only need one of the two to have a house. Also the guide told you at some point the requirements for an house and told you to check the housing menu but you ignored it. Check it, it will make your life easier :)
    - gold coins to silver coin is basically like dollars to cents in real world
    - What is gold ore useful for ? Well give it to the guide craft menu and see, note that it is the best ore you can find currently at your point of the game, so it is very useful.
    - People told you to use ropes, and I would advise you to also abuse platforms, they are the perfect blocks to use in exploration, since you can pass through it. You can also put platforms above your mining hole so you don't fall in it by accident.
    - Use ctrl to toggle smart cursur, when on, it will automatically target blocks when you mine and will also target valid locations for background walls and torchs when placing them. So use it when mining, putting walls and placing torches?
    - From your previous vide, water isn't toxic, no mater how it looks.
    - You indeed can't make a house with only platforms, you need at least 2 solid not obtructed blocks (so even if you make a house, if you have tables or chests on every blocks, it won't work either)
    - "I don't know how to use step tool", it's literaly written in the description of the item -_-
    - Don't throw random stuff to trash, especially if you don't know what they do, please at least check recipes. And there is only a few if not no useless items in this game.
    - Instead of attacking the squirrel with a sword, try with a bug net :)
    - Purple stuff is moss, just decorative
    - Also you get so lucky to find a nymph to then die by a trap AHAHAH
    - You seriously used all your golds for a candelabra -_-
    - To poop, you have to eat a meal first
    - Yes explore the world in every direction
    - 24:20 oh a Shackle :)

NPC happiness can affect the prices of items the happier an npc is the less items will cost and vice versa. npcs have a lot of factors that can influence this such as favorite person or favorite biome. favorite biome can be shown by looking at their bestiary background (the little book near the trash can in your inventory). and the you can see the info on favorite and least favorite person by asking the npc themselves by clicking about happiness. There is also something called a pylon which basically acts as a waypoint/teleporter on the map, it needs 2 NPCS and its respected biome to work.
Also, there is really good loot in the sky islands if you can find a way up there weather it be building or gravity potions.

You’re one of the fastest learners I’ve seen for blind Terraria playthroughs-incredible work! Here’s some tips:
-Build more NPC houses as soon as you can. There are many NPC’s that you can unlock by meeting certain criteria, so having those empty available rooms will make it easier for your future self. You should also build these houses on top of one another for more efficiency and organization.
-Hang on to any bombs that you find so that the demolitionist can move in. Having bombs will make it much easier to mine straight down. To further enhance this, you can combine bombs with gel to make sticky bombs, which don’t roll and allow for more precise mining. You’ll also need these bombs later for when you’re strong enough to venture into the Corruption’s deep chasms, since the purple stone there cannot be mined with your current pickaxe.
-At this stage, gold armor is one of the best sets you can reasonably get before fighting your first boss. You could also use mixed armor pieces of tungsten/lead incase you have trouble finding more gold. Full tungsten is also fine if you’d prefer to make gold tools instead, which are actually good in this game, unlike in Minecraft.
-You’re on the right path-keep searching for ores, gems, and gold chests. There will be accessories in these chests that are key for increasing your mobility.
Have fun and enjoy what each stage of progression has to offer. The first playthrough is always magical.

One important group of tips that I know every terraria player uses constantly is all the little helpful UI buttons. You can loot an entire chest at once, sort your inventory or a chest, quick stack to nearby chests (automatically take items from your inventory to nearby chests with the same items in them), favorite items to prevent them from being sorted, trashed, dropped, or quick stacked, and many more.
I think others have mentioned hotkeys like quick buffs or healing or smart cursor, but these are a bit different.
Also, the NPC dialogue is sometimes just flavor text. The traveling merchant doesn’t actually do anything when he says he’ll meet you behind a house.
As one last tip, just explore more. At this stage of the early game, just explore the surface for the biomes (maybe take a break from the corruption until you get some better loot) and mine ores underground. You’ve set up your basic crafting and housing, so you just need to gear up now.

a few rare tips i didnt see anyone else mention.
    1. there is both an inventory sort button (thank god) and a quick stack button
    2. after using the first tip you may realize it messed up what little inventory organization you had or quick stacks items you want to keep, theres a very simple solution, hold alt and left click on items to favorite them so they cant be sorted, quick stacked and more (it tells everything favoriting does when you hover over a favorited item, so do read it)
3.when crafting, if you have a chest open it will let you use all the items in that chest as materials, so you dont have to move them into your inventory.
if items you need are in separate chests you will still need to grab at least one of them since you can only have 1 chest open at a time

    Tips:
    a. Prehard mode (before killing the wall of flesh in the under world or hell) it can spread through grass only that is next to it. Replace 10 grass blocks next to the corruption so it won't spread
    B. Hardmode(after killing the wall of flesh) dig down all the way to the underworld (4 blocks thick)
    C. The hardmode "V" (hardmode) it will spawn a corruption and the hollow biome one of the sides of the "V" will be either the corruption or the hollow biome can be in the different position
How to get rid of the corruption and the hollow biome:
    1. Purification powder purchased from the driad
    2. Clentaminator purchased from the steampunker for 5 platinum coins. Needs a green solution for ammunition. 1 green solution=1 second of use

Hello a guy who's played Terraria since 2014 here with 7k+ hours.
I'm mainly a builder and like to build, it's very important to check if the house you made is valid, to check press the house icon above the vanity slot and click on the house.
Also you need like 4 solid blocks on a floor for it to be a valid house, meaning if you make a multi story house you need to make sure each of the floors have some solid floor not all platforms.
Also another tip is to take your time and build a lot of epic houses, it's not very satisfying having done everything just for the world you did it all in to look like a dump. My number 1 tip for building is once you unlock paint use it (I won't spoil why, just trust me and you'll fall in love with paint like I did).

To keep npc's from moving out like the guide did in ur original house, make a identical second floor on top of ur first floor (minus the doors) and replace only 2 side by side blocks of wood with platforms to pass through to different floors (putting the platforms in the corners is good because it won't interfere with tables or chairs) the platforms will count as doors too so you only need walls, table, chair, and torch for each room. Melee: mostly swords yoyos and flails with some projectiles or true melee no projectiles and mele based armour with most defense
Mage: magic weapons uses mana and mana potions try max out mana stars for that
Summonner: summons minions to help you fight and use whips, has summon armour than increases summon slots. for a quick starter one to find try finch staff in living trees. Also requires mana but not that much just to spawn it
Ranged: early game bows and mostly guns have to use ammo of bullets and arrows arms dealer is your best friend get him to spawn in by blowing up a shadow orb with a bomb dynamite etc you have to do that to even mine the stone there too since your pickaxe is too weak preboss

Also, Terraria is FULL of references to other media through dialogue, or items. Vanity sets especially often reference things. Apparently the Raynebro set you bought in this episode is a vanity set dedicated to the son of the games two lead devs: Redigit and Cenx. Honestly, so much of the content terraria has was genuinely added because someone on the dev team either: Felt like it, wanted to reference something, or just thought it'd be cool/fun/funny. What makes it into terraria updates are beyond more relaxed than like, the guidelines for what we often see in minecraft updates.

In Terraria, almost every item you can find has some sort of use. Especially if the item description says "material" you should take it to the guide and check for crafting recipes!
And since you encountered the issue of mining air because you can't see or you are exhausted from aiming at every single block:
Use the "smart cursor". Your cursor will toggle to a wider version when you press ctrl (or shift, it's one of those two) and then you can just aim in the general direction and it will mine the closest block in that direction for you!
The shift button (or the ctrl) will choose a tool in your inventory for you depending what your cursor is pointing at.
And also there are some extra functionalities for chests and your inventory to sort things easily! You should try them out, they're buttons close to your inventory or chest inventory if you open it!

  • @emptynight4861

One of the big things I'd recommend to a new player is to use the guide's crafting option as much as you can stand to, anything that has the "material" line in it's description should be put in there, and there's absolutely tons of stuff that has that line, not just ores and stuff, things like your accessories or weapons can be materials too. (also, you can click the little hammer above the crafting list to expand it and show all of the options at the same time)

U will probably not see this cuz there are more than 900 comments at this point, but here are some tips and a bit of useful info without spoilers:
    1. If you press ctrl you can switch between "manual" and "automatic" targeting mode. It doesnt work with weapons on pc, but it will let you for example dig straight down while just holding left click with your cursor below you.
    2. Once you have a full Armor set out of one material and equip all of it you get a set-Bonus.
    3. If you want to craft potions, just set a glass bottle onto a table. thats your crafting station. For potions, you need bottled water, which you can get by just standing in or near water with empty bottles in your Inventory. The ingredients are mostly just plants you find around the world.
    4. If you press H you automatically drink the best healing potion you currently have, if you press B you use all buff-Items (potions, food etc) and there was also a keybind for mana-potions but i forgor which one. 🙃
    5. Fishing in this game can get you actually useful stuff, like crates. Fishing rods are easy to craft and you can get bait by buying a net from the merchant and catching bugs and insects.
    6. If you want to go mining, i suggest just searching for a Cave entrance above ground, because you can find Chest, Heart crystals and ores way easier this way.
Anyways i really enjoyed this series so far and i hope you will continue playing this game to the end. 😊

good job on progressing so far, youre honestly doing way better than most new players, one guy that im currently helping to learn the game couldnt for the life of him figure out how to open the inventory without the Guide opening it for him and has only now figured out how to make a working house.
that said, there are somethings that you still need to learn to make your life easier.
pressing CTRL toggles Smart Cursor, when smart cursor is ON the game will automate repetitive actions for you such as having to switch to move your cursor to another block while mining, aiming for the very bottom of trees when cutting them down, placing the background walls, planting trees, etc. . You can tell when Smart Cursor is on when you see a yellow square near your cursor when you equip things like a pick axe.
pressing H is Quick Heal, it makes you use the best healing item you currently have without having to switch to in in your inventory.
pressing J is Quick Mana, just like Quick Heal, but for mana potions instead.
pressing B is Quick Buff, pressing it makes you drink one of all of the potions you currently have on you. No, drinking potions takes no time and you are still able to attack while doing the above.
I recommend rebinding these because its sometimes hard to reach some of them (inventory>settings>controls).
I personally like binding Quick Mana, Quick Heal, and Quick Buff to R, F, and V respectively and Smart Cursor to C. have a gander at all the other controls there too while you're at it, might find something i forgot to mention.
Generally, mining is not very efficient at this point in the game. Exploring the surface will likely be more fruitful. Check caves; more often than now, they will contain chests with loot. Put down torches, even in the day, they don't reduce mob spawns, but your future self will be thankful for it, believe me. If you find sun flowers, take them, when around sun flowers, you get a buff that decreases mob spawns and increase movement speed.
Speaking of buffs, you may or may not have noticed that when you have an effect on you, you get a little picture right under your hotbar(when the inventory is closed), mousing over these pictures tells you what buffs/debuffs you have(generally, red pic=bad, blue pic=good).
that should be all the important things for now, sorry for info dumping you, but its better than telling you little by little. good job so far👍
ps. you weren't hurt by toxic water last vid, you stepped on a naturally generated pressure plate which was wired to a dart trap that inflicts poison on you. i recommend getting the trap as it can be useful in the long run.

(The settings were Journey, Classic, Expert, and Master if you've forgotten.)

  • @tsrenis
    @tsrenis 7 часов назад +2

This is some good content dude, super funny.
As far as advice goes: I'd recommend checking the controls in the settings but I'll mention the most useful ones here. H is the hotkey for consuming a health potion in your inventory. B is quick buff, so that consumes one of each buffing potion in your inventory
Holding shift engages auto tool, basically an auto select tool... thingy? When held, it tries to select the appropriate tool to interact with the object under the cursor. A light source will be selected if nothing else applies. Basically, aim at a block, it pulls out your pickaxe. Aim at air around you, it pulls out a torch. Aim at a tree, it pulls out your axe. Ctrl toggles smart cursor, I dunno if I can explain this one good but it's super useful for mining.
F4 toggles camera mode, a special interface for taking screenshots. Any screenshots taken using it are saved to Documents\My Games\Terraria\Captures.
F11 toggles the HUD if you ever need to do that
An easy source of free blocks that I don't know if the guide ever mentions is hay, you get that from cutting grass with the sickle. It doesn't break your fall or anything like Minecraft, but it gives you a quick and easy source of blocks and walls.
But the most important piece of advice I can give is to play the game how you want and have fun.

Just some small tips that won't reveal much:
-definitely explore the world from left to right, it's not infinite so you don't have to worry about that. You can find a lot of loot by doing that and most enemies can be avoided by simply running and swinging your sword.
-as you progress through the game, and mainly slay bosses, the NPC's would gradually sell more items.

So you can put stuff in it, then pick it back up and bring it with you, unlike regular chests which can't be removed until they are empty. Also, you drop money when you die but if you place it in your piggy bank, you won't drop it AND money that is in a piggy bank counts for a mechanic called "savings", basically it is the total pool of all your money in both your inventory + your piggy bank and can be used when shopping
