Im thinking about getting a dead spec but I somehow feel like the silver skies do not have as much feel as the fenders (when listening) I feel like fender touches your heart more often than a silver sky. Do you feel the same or is it just me? thinking about buying either the dead spec, a john mayer sign strat or the 68 landau bc it sounded sooo good in one of your vids. Much love
Thank you so much for hanging around my videos! As many have said, it really is all about personal taste. If you ask me about my opinion on them, I would have to go with my 68 Landau! The silversky felt “flawless” - sounded very organized. Mayer’s sig strat felt right in the middle of landau and SS, both punchy and clean. But Landau…was something else for me. It has that “raw” sound of the wood, you can feel the vintage vibe at its best. And of all that, the customshop fat 50’s are just the best pickups I’ve ever used 🔥

I disagree with the choice of words, but I do know what you’re referring to. They sound a bit “flatter” or even “thinner” than what you might expect from the earlier Mayer Stratocaster tone. In my opinion, I think it’s really pleasant.
