bingo. i think you nailed it, especially the growing up part. people cling closest to what they remember from their youth. people who are complaining there isn't any good music now simply isn't looking
I work as the merchandise receiver for JC Penney out of all places. As I was helping to offload my truck this morning this song was played over the store's sound system! Hadn't heard it since my early 20s! It was awesome!
This song was everywhere for the time it was out...nfl games used it as prompt music, I know it was used fro a car commercial but do not remember which one...I could not get the tune out of my head! Now I am having that problem again :)! 13 years ago? WOW time flies!
lol mate, i didn't even notice the naked men until i read your comment and i must have watched this vid 10 times, i see em now but i was concentrating on the singer before!! SHE IS 1 FIT LASS!!
I really miss the Brit rock from the mid to late '90s. Republica, original Oasis, Blur, Supergrass, Elastica and the like. I'm was a teen and a new waver in the early to mid '80s and am starting to really miss the '90s Brit bands as much as I missed the '80s bands in the '90s.
Actually many people tend to agree. 60s, 70s, 80s are too dug into their own decade in music style while the 90s converted many 80s fans, helped us survive the 00s and is still going strong post 10. So even though everyone is entitled to their opinion...the 90s > Everything. Speaking as an 80s child.
I agree (though sometimes I get the idea that a lot of the "last decade of good music EVAR" comments come from young people who didn't actually live thru the 90s). I think what was special about the 90s is it was the last decade when interesting music had a big hold on the mainstream. I mean, this song played on Mtv *all the time*. So did Bjork, & Pearl Jam, & Primus & Radiohead & Soul Coughing & the Squirrel Nut Zippers. It was a unique time in popular music that we probably won't see again.
Wow, I just heard this on indie yesterday, and I'm right... it's still just as bizarre, just as unmistakeable as I remember it... now, I wonder if the other stuff by this band is as distinctive?...
Justine Frischmann. Purely genius and as well quite a sexpot too. That look she does...especially in the "Stutter" video. She's the reason I dated way to many post mod indie rock girls, but I'm still holding out for her! :)
THANK YOU. You see that kind of stuff EVERYWHERE. "Today's music sucks! My decade was the best!" I mean, hell, if you don't like the music you're hearing, LISTEN TO SOMETHING ELSE.
Elastica were sued by many bands for plagarism. Most notably by Wire who said the Elastica song "Line Up" had a similar chorus to their (excellent) track "I am the Fly" and by The Stranglers who claimed that "Waking Up" had ripped off their (magnificent) tune "No More Heroes". Both claims were settled out of court.
Wire attempted to sue Elastica for the use of this riff from "Three Girl Rhumba" and for the use of the main coda from Wire's song "I Am the Fly" in another song called "Line Up" - In the end they settled out of court. Also, parts of Elastica's song "Waking Up" sound a lot like "No More Heroes" by The Stranglers.
They EVENTUALLY gave Wire royalties on one of at least two songs from that album which were practically written by Wire, and then later made another album with 2 more blatant Wire rips. Also the small matter of Justine Frischmann claiming she knew Colin Newman and he was fine with it. There's a recent interview where he says some pretty brutal things about her and that situation.
Ahh 1995. Before the proliferation of the internet. A glorious golden age where 12 year olds weren't free to spout inane opinions. The good old days indeed.
Who did that 90s song that goes something like 'I wanna do nice things, I wanna do anything' ?? probably got the lyrics incorrect but i know it was an alt band w/ a female vocalist.
Awesome quick cuts, and little camera moves, tightly edited. So simple and so much fun to watch, it suits the song perfectly.
This is the best cover of Wire I have heard in a long time.
this came out when i was 10-11 and i remember LOVING it and i still do today. timeless.
This song sums up my four years in college and the kind of music I listened to at the time. Wonderful.
I heard this on BBC6 music the other day.
It blew my mind.
Thanks for uploading.
bingo. i think you nailed it, especially the growing up part. people cling closest to what they remember from their youth. people who are complaining there isn't any good music now simply isn't looking

One of the best pop songs ever.
This song was everywhere for the time it was out...nfl games used it as prompt music, I know it was used fro a car commercial but do not remember which one...I could not get the tune out of my head! Now I am having that problem again :)! 13 years ago? WOW time flies!
Why did this get thumbs down'd? He has a point! The song by wire sounds JUST LIKE THIS.
I like the way the camera closes up to her face. She has this quirky expression. I like.
A passing comment is more like "The 90's was the best decade for music EVER!"
Elastica made women look rockin.^^ we need some more of that
lol mate, i didn't even notice the naked men until i read your comment and i must have watched this vid 10 times, i see em now but i was concentrating on the singer before!! SHE IS 1 FIT LASS!!
Ah, that one's destined to be a classic--great hook.

Yours is one of my favorite EVER comments on RUclips. Fkn'A Right, whoever you are.

I heard this song was the inspiration behind "Massive Bled" by Creature. They both came out in the same year and sound kinda similar.

Wow, I just heard this on indie yesterday, and I'm right... it's still just as bizarre, just as unmistakeable as I remember it... now, I wonder if the other stuff by this band is as distinctive?...

This song reminds me of a 90's version of a Romeo Void song.
anyone else notice that they totally recorded this vid at the same time they did the one for "Waking up"?
POWER POP!!!
I hear it said about the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's....10 or 20 years from now they'll say the same thing about now
I don't see why this video has been flagged? Anyway, it's a well edited music video, me likes it.
Elastica are named after the word "Elastic" but with an "A" on the end.
Justine Frischmann. Purely genius and as well quite a sexpot too. That look she does...especially in the "Stutter" video. She's the reason I dated way to many post mod indie rock girls, but I'm still holding out for her! :)

This is the Theme Tune For Trigger Happy TV

That kind of depends on where one was living at the time... :)
