Soccer is my life but my junior year of high school I had to accept that I couldn't pursue it as a career. I'm now a chemical engineer moving up the management ladder at my firm, but I still play soccer twice a week with friends along with kickball and beach volleyball! Loved your story and good luck with all your future endeavors!
I had the same experience!!! How crazy...I played every sport in middle/high school and was very focused on basketball. I did play in college too for only a year and had to make the hardest decision of my life to quit. Hearing your story made me reminisce on my athletic journey as well which I haven’t thought about in years because it was a difficult time. It’s nice to hear that not all athletes go on to pursue their dreams. Thanks for sharing ❤️
I played soccer in kindergarten, baseball and basketball in first grade and I did both of those in second grade too, I didn’t do sports again until 4th grade when I started playing lacrosse and I played lacrosse until 6th grade and then started back in basketball during 7th grade and have been playing ever since
I played basketball at Wadsworth High School my freshman (your senior) year and sophomore year but stopped playing to focus on volleyball. My dad was one of the team doctors so I loved watching you play those two years!
This is so motivating! I started swimming last semester and I am working hard to improve, but still have a long way to go , I hope to be able to reflect on my journey one day, thanks for the vid!
I saw myself through your life... I use to play basketball here in Brazil, but when I had to stop playing because of an injury, I didn't know what I would do with my life... I just knew how to play basketball. But now, I started studying and I always go to the gym. I thing study engeneer and go to the gym is my passion...
I’m so glad you mentioned that mental struggle of transitioning from training as an athlete to just exercise for the health benefits. Track and cross country were my specialties, so now that I️ am in love with cycling I️ find it difficult to just ride without going into the red. I️ have found I️ need to make a decision to just ride from time to time. Keep the great videos coming!!
I'm glad you can relate! I think a lot of high level athletes deal with this, but it's not talked about much... cycling is so fun and gives a similar high to running. I hope you can find that balance too 😊
I started playing badminton when I was 15. I've been playing for 15 years, coaching for 12, and I own my own badminton/tennis shop now for almost a year.
You rock Rach! That drive and dedication will make you successful in life and it sounds like you did really well. I just watched your bball video from 2017 on the jab step and any girl that can do a step back 3 is pretty good. There are a ton of great HS athletes that go to D1 and burn out. I know 2 from HS that went D2 & D3 and burned out. I'm a huge bball guy, but I couldn't dedicate that much time to it, I always kept it at a fun level.
Ilove your vids rach, you always manage to make me smile :) throughout high school I was a very competitive basketball player. I played an a-bracket aau schedule and played varsity for 2 and a half years. Although when I went into my senior year I was beginning to burn out and i transferred to a new school. Because of this, my love for playing the game decreased drastically and my play suffered as consequence. Up to that point I always had had hopes of becoming a college level athlete but once I realized that I simply wasn't going to be one, I came to a similar conclusion that you did. I realized that you can still play a sport and excercise to feel good without trying to be elite in that sport or area of excercise. I'm very happy i learned this lesson and I'm also glad to hear that someone had a somewhat similar experience to my own. :) much love, keep doing your thing,-drew
Basketball and golf are my main sports, but I love playing all sports. I loved playing IM flag football, softball, frisbee and basketball in college. I like training in many sports to gain many different skills. I am also into weightlifting.
Hey Rachel you ought to try Volleyball I grew up playing basketball but also picked up playing Volleyball at church :D Of course I remember I got hit by a ball on my face from playing little league baseball
I can relate to you so much. I am in 8th grade and also practice with the high school team. But instead of softball, I quit soccer to pursue basketball and I do plan on playing Division I.
I did Football my freshman year in high school. After that I did Basketball and baseball for the rest of my Sophmore thru Senior year. Since I graduated in 2016 I haven't touched a basketball. Until this past month I finally touched a basketball and I love basketball I'm in love with it but in not as good as I was in high school
I really like the sport of basketball. I just have to get my health to the point where I can play again. I miss it. But I really liked the video because it gives more of an in depth look at how you got to where you’re at currently in your life. Not just professionally, but also on a personal level which is awesome
She speaks the truth.. I just finished my NCAA hockey career, now I'm kinda in limbo. Like playing for 18 yrs and meeting all these pros, dedicating entire summers to training with elite CSCS coaches for the next season just so you can get the feeling of winning and scoring that big goal.. Yeah I'm a little lost rn lol
Once you find out what you want to do for your career, you will do very well. You sound like a high energy go getter. Thats the job of the parents to make sure you high level athletes also prepare for life after sports. Even michael jordan had to find a career after sports.
I’m currently playing three sports. I started soccer when I was 8, I then started basketball this year. And three weeks ago I started lacrosse. I’m very tall for my age, and I used to not be the fastest on the field for soccer. I’ve learned that playing basketball helped with my cardio and endurance. I’m probably one of the best on my basketball team, my coach has helped me so much and I’ve worked so hard to I’m finally happy with my outcome of sports. As I said I’m super tall (6”1) and I just turned 12. I have a long way before college, but I hope to play in college basketball :)
What a nice sport journey you have had, Rachel! I have also played many sports, never at professional level: soccer (the most popular one in the country I am from), basketball (I wasn't bad at it but always felt a bit weird playing it xd), rugby (for a year), tennis for some time, running (5k, 10k, half marathon and marathon), because of the challenging part of it and because it is very good for getting fit, cycling (my favourite sport), mountaineering and currently swimming (I didn't use to like it at all, but I am learning to like it). I can't help but imagining you practicing cycling, I think you would be good at it too, since you are very resistant (good experience in marathon) and must have a lot of power in your legs because of gymnastics. And it is super fun :)
Thank you for sharing your story too! ....and yes, I actually love cycling - I just wish there were better places to ride outside in LA... I'm scared I'm going to get hit by a car lol.
You're welcome :) Oh, it makes a lot of sense to me that you like cycling, but I am sorry you don't have better places to ride and it doesn't feel safe:( My problem here is the weather, so I end up swimming instead , because without sun it is not fun xd
This is so amazing!! I am a seventh grader and I run track and play basketball. My number is #32 and I run the 400, 800, and 1600m. I also do high jump. I am very dedicated to basketball and want to be better. I am the fastest girl on my track team and I run with the boys and after practice I watch the boys play. And sometimes play with them. I try to practice every day and love doing it!
:) yeah, I really liked it. Yeah, i went and did karate and basketball for the longest time when i was younger until i eventually hit a snag, and had to shift gears for a bit. After that it just became a series of steps recollecting my footing and getting into a calm medium where i could figure things out. At the time i was very heavy in sports, and i did it pretty much every single day. I think my thing when i was younger was karate as opposed to gymnastics, and it was my favorite thing to do up until fifteen where that snag came into play (6-15). Basketball was similar, 6 to 18 and after that i went into a collection period and started college a little bit later. In highschool i ran track as well, sophomore and freshman year, I ran the 400m and one first both years, was better composed as a sprinter since i wasn't working out every single day like most of the athletes. I had a couple of other things comprising my time, and the snag took quite a bit of it as well. I believe it was sophomore year when i injured my knee(i was a year younger than my class) i experimented with ankle weights and got rim when i was around 5,5 but didn't expect to jump that high and messed it up. Its a minor tear in my i think cause it still bugs me to this day. I think as far as track goes my favorite was the distance jump in the sand, and in karate, when we stacked punching bags and had to go and do dives over them lol. We would get em to about two bags above head level and we were expected to dive over them, the landing had to be precise, but it was super fun otherwise haha. My best mile time in track was a 5 flat which was nothing honestly, there were kids in middle school breaking 4s lol, but to me it was pretty good. It didn't come without uh, yeah, was definitely fun though.
wow you've done tons of sports also!!! love this story... and karate sounds like a really fun sport, especially diving over things lol! thank you for watching 😊
I used to play volleyball for 11 years and when I quitted I was 15. I quitted because I moved and I didn’t like the new team. So after that I had no idea what sport to do! So I tried tennis and I was pretty good at it, I wasn’t expecting to win medals, but looking back I was a good tennis player! Anyways it was not “my” sport so I started athletics. I did high jump for like a month, but I wanted to run so I started long distance running and cross country. I was good as a beginner, but I was not as good as the people in my “team” that had been runners for all their lives long! So I started comparing myself to other people and that become pretty unhealthy, to the point that in less than 6 months I was almost running as fast as them! But I got injured and that made me think a lot about what I was doing. Looking back I was running because I was escaping, escaping from myself. I just couldn’t face the fact that I wasn’t playing volleyball anymore, and like you said I kind of lost my identity. I also started wanting to be fit and skinny and in a good shape, so my relationship with food got very unhealthy when I was running. So after one year and a half I quitted running too. I wanted to get better, I wanted to find a balance. Now I work out on my own, but for me it’s still hard to like be “balanced”. I always feel like I have to train more, even if I’m not competing. I think that I should try something like boxing and yoga, just to find a new balance, because after all the running I did now I’m scared to run, because I kind of don’t wanna know that I’m not as good as I was before. Anyways this was my story, I hope you enjoyed it if you read it!! Your video was very inspiring, I feel like you’ve been through similar things I’m experiencing and I have experienced! Have a nice day, you are amazing 💞☺️
just read this whole story... thank you SO MUCH for sharing! I can relate on many levels. running is such an amazing sport, but it's easy to become addicted to it and gain an unhealthy relationship with the sport/our bodies. finding myself again took a little while - so don't give up! I know you will be able to find balance and find exercise/sport that you'll really love again 😊.
Girl, this journey was meant for you ♥️ We totally forgot about the pic at 8:35 , we don't have any of ours. I think my mom has them back home in VA...lol
I used to do Shotput,Discus,Javelin,200m and 800m and Basketball. I really loved them all at first my family supported my decision on playing sports. Ive competed in basketball games and meet's ive won alot of medals and I broke the record in a league for the longest throw in Discus which was 37.8 meters, That may seem small but it was big for our age group. Everything was going smoothly until my parents decided to not support me anymore. They decided that I should move schools. (imagine this ive been in my old school for 9 years I was aware that I would switch schools but I was still shocked) i begged them to atleast give me one more yeat they said no (i dont even know why they want me to move schools) Now im in the new school which is ok i mean, but they dont have sports here so I cant even pursue what I want. After dismissal on Monday's I usually go to the basketball court and play with guys and girls
That stinks, but don't be angry with your parents. There must have been a good reason( not you ) you moved. At least you found a group to play some hoops with. Eventually, thats where we end up anyway.
I lived by you!! I live in twinsburg I see you played for wadsworth and I saw Solon in a picture... I think the school you were at from kindergarten to hs was st. Rita... it’s a small world!
Omg I m in similar situation and I m also 27. Funny thing is that ever since I stopped pursuing to be elite, I have enjoyed just playing...I could shoot hours at a court on my own after work and be happy now.
Literally going through the struggle of not enjoying my training and I’m only 16, although my sport is futsal. I don’t know what to do because I’ve come so far
Dang. Get you a smart athletic girl (; haha but I’m guessing the “Lady Magics” means you were at Barberton before switching to Wadsworth? Kinda cool tbh. My parents grew up in Barberton before they had me. I almost ended up going there, but we moved to Massillon. I’m 22 now so I maybe was close to actually knowing you before the fame! Lol but what a crazy journey! Incredible what changes in life can bring to your life in the end!
Rachel Annamarie DeMita yeah no doubt! Only been in Cali for a week but I loved it there! I’m sure you feel the same way! But I will be moving south some time in the next year or two near my family in the Myrtle Beach area. It’s too dang cold around this time haha but Happy Thanksgiving!
I am coaching my daughter in 5th grade Basketball. She got some talent, but I am still waiting for her to tell me "I want to be really good, II want to be the best girl on the team." I envy your dad.
what did you do to get good at basketball that one summer? all our good players are leaving next year, what should i practice to get good for next year?
I am definitely not as athletic as you were and I wish I was but my teams simply don't have that many trainings and I'm ashamed to say that we only have 1 hour of training in basketball a week. It makes me so sad and all especially since I can perform at a high-ish level. This isn't every week because sometimes we have matches and I also have training 1-2 times a month for a national academy even though I only train with my region so that team is actually worse than my club. There is no school team either and its so annoying I cant even. Anyways this is my athletic journey up to now (Fourteen in a bit more than a week) -Basketball for 2 years from age 5-7 or something like that -Played Camogie for a year when I was about 8. I was really good but I had to quit. -I did hip-hop dancing for a year for fun too (about 8) -I played soccer for just under a year at about 8, I hated it so stopped when I got an injury on my finger. -Did gymnastics for 2 and a half years when I was about 9 - 11 -Tennis in school also for about 2 years at age 7-9 or so but it was a requirement -Started basketball again at age 10. I was really bad as you were in the first year but made it to my top 5 in the second year. Since then I got better each year and made lots of representitive teams and still going! -I started hockey with the school team last year when I was 13 and other than that one hour of practise at home thats all I do because I have yet to buy a stick. -Soccer for like 2 months at age 13 because a coach invited me because they needed a goalie and I was tall. Still hated it so I stopped I think that is everything.I will be starting crossfit in December and I am trying to go on runs whenever possible. I am also desperately trying to get my mum to let me start swimming and rock climbing but unsuccesful af rn... I wanna do it so bad though so Im not giving up
wow that's amazing you have tried so many sports!! I'll cross my fingers that your mom allows you to do swimming and rock climbing soon too 😊 keep working hard!
I played soccer for about 10 years on like an above average level in Germany but still pretty far away from going pro. Had a complete sports break for like 2 years but now at 18 I’m starting with lifting just to stay fit and get in shape for them hoes... lol just kidding
Basketball help me lose weight and got me into better shape. After being overweight all of child hood into teenage years. I'm a healthier person because of it.🏀
Dumb lol Latinas & light skin ebony woman are gorgeous with booty and chest. white woman are beautiful too but most don't got the booty to go with it haha.
I never said it's bad. I simply said everyone prefers white women. White men, black men, asian men, latinos, everyone would rather have a pretty white woman. White beauty is way diff than others, the physical portraits are just prettier and classier in white women.
Hey Rach. I'm about to get a ring, do I get any props or recognition for that? I would of been in the combine, but school and inevitable events in life got me crushed. Let me know please. Much love and respect.😎
grab your popcorn it's a long one!!! I hope you guys enjoy it and get to learn a little more about me :)
Rachel Annamarie DeMita 👍🏻
:) yeah, I really liked it :). I didn't have popcorn unfortunately ;) but it was great regardless.

Wow, great story! Really love this. Thanks for being open and human! Love the channel Rachel. Big fan! :)
I'm one of the worst girls in the 7th grade this inspired me to do better and work harder to make things happen thank you so much
Happy Thanksgiving RAD, hope you and your family are having a good one.
This is so amazing!! I am a seventh grader and I run track and play basketball. My number is #32 and I run the 400, 800, and 1600m. I also do high jump. :) yeah, I really liked it. Yeah, i went and did karate and basketball for the longest time when i was younger until i eventually hit a snag, and had to shift gears for a bit. You’ve had quite a Journey.
yeahhhh and not over yet!

just read this whole story... thank you SO MUCH for sharing! I can relate on many levels. running is such an amazing sport, but it's easy to become addicted to it and gain an unhealthy relationship with the sport/our bodies. finding myself again took a little while - so don't give up! I know you will be able to find balance and find exercise/sport that you'll really love again 😊.
Wow an amazing athlete plus really pretty and valedictorian
Girl, this journey was meant for you ♥️ We totally forgot about the pic at 8:35 , we don't have any of ours. I think my mom has them back home in VA...lol
aweee thanks twins 😊!!!
Great video
😊
Rachel Annamarie DeMita How is Thanksgiving going? Do a video about what a vegan Thanksgiving looks like.
Thanks for sharing such inspiring story! Yeah... Is a long one... But worth watching

Incredible what changes in life can bring to your life in the end!
haha yes I was in Barberton before Wadsworth... awesome you're from the 330 too!!
She got some talent, but I am still waiting for her to tell me "I want to be really good, II want to be the best girl on the team." I envy your dad.

thank you!
Anyways this is my athletic journey up to now (Fourteen in a bit more than a week)
-Basketball for 2 years from age 5-7 or something like that
-Played Camogie for a year when I was about 8. I was really good but I had to quit.
-I did hip-hop dancing for a year for fun too (about 8)
-I played soccer for just under a year at about 8, I hated it so stopped when I got an injury on my finger.
-Did gymnastics for 2 and a half years when I was about 9 - 11
-Tennis in school also for about 2 years at age 7-9 or so but it was a requirement
-Started basketball again at age 10.
Still hated it so I stopped
I think that is everything.I will be starting crossfit in December and I am trying to go on runs whenever possible. I am also desperately trying to get my mum to let me start swimming and rock climbing but unsuccesful af rn... I wanna do it so bad though so Im not giving up
wow that's amazing you have tried so many sports!! I'll cross my fingers that your mom allows you to do swimming and rock climbing soon too 😊 keep working hard!
me and you have gone through the exact same journey it’s ridiculous

Rachel was the type of girl i definitely would have had a secret HUGE crush on in middle school
I played soccer for about 10 years on like an above average level in Germany but still pretty far away from going pro. Had a complete sports break for like 2 years but now at 18 I’m starting with lifting just to stay fit and get in shape for them hoes... lol just kidding
This girl right here had a GLOW UP! 👀👀😂

Basketball help me lose weight and got me into better shape. After being overweight all of child hood into teenage years. I'm a healthier person because of it.🏀
that's so awesome to hear!
very good life so far.
cool!
How many sports do you do?
when did you hook up with kd?
Dumb lol Latinas & light skin ebony woman are gorgeous with booty and chest. white woman are beautiful too but most don't got the booty to go with it haha.
Thief haha, >implying that black men getting with white women is bad.
Thief most of those white girl’s asses are fake so.....
Thief agreed white is better
I never said it's bad. I simply said everyone prefers white women. White men, black men, asian men, latinos, everyone would rather have a pretty white woman. White beauty is way diff than others, the physical portraits are just prettier and classier in white women.
Maravilhosa .
Great video RealMvp
I think you've ran more then some people have moved their entire life...just saying lol
thanks 😊
Womans are so pure this why they are the most beautiful thing in the world.
