I've seen a few reviews of this figure and it always looked great to me, but your review convinced me to order it. You went through all of the important information and showed how much the positives outweigh the negatives. I've never owned a 3rd party Transformer before (I sort of made it a rule for myself to only buy the official stuff, despite Hasbro being greedy bastards at times), although I was tempted by a few like OP Leader and some of Planet X's other offerings. However, I've made an exception for Kadmos here for three reasons. 1. Planet X has been doing really well with their figures from what I've seen, so I can trust their quality (let's just ignore their take on FoC's Paddles for now). 3. This is the IDW design. Hasbro and Takara barely ever tackle the IDW versions of their characters save for some Generations Deluxe figures, and they sure as hell won't be doing it for Star Saber anytime soon. While I'm not fond of Star Saber's portrayal in the comics, I really like the design, so I'll just pretend he's the heroic one. Apparently that's what Planet X's vague "lore" describes Kadmos as, him being the supreme commander of the Planet X Transformers. Why else would this "zealot" have a smaller robot form with a happy smile on his face? lol Kadmos will make for a fantastic display piece, so I'm glad I ordered this.
update: after finally getting him in hand i'm pleased to inform you all that the new reissue of kadmos both fixes the head to have paint around the eyes and fixes the knee joints now that the main two issues outlined in this video are no longer a thing he's now more worth it than ever
honestly the thing people should be complaining about Hasbro doing is using way too much clear plastic and disguising it would paint, I will not be picking up the new track going partially interested in the new road rage anything that stopping me is the heavy used to clear plastic like the Autobot molds (the train-bots and Autobot brothers are the worst offenders) from the 2001 robots in disguise. besides using clear plastic on Autobots is really pointless since all you're going to see if the internals of the folded up robot Parts, the only ones I know of where it where works is the Voyager Classics Optimus Prime mold because you can see molded in seats and a steering wheel.
Doesn't really equate. Clear plastic is due to the mould layouts of certain figures. It's a direct result of the budget on CHUG releases. Masterpiece has completely different problems entirely: you can't really critique then the same way
masterpiece star saber's quality is an affectation, it always was. REAL quality hurts, it twists like a knife in your budget and forces you to reach for the stars, masterpiece never did anything. he just sat in the middle and waited for quality to come to him, SUCH ARROGANCE!
The Whirl type one is the Mastermind Creations Obsidian and the black jet is the Maketoys Jetfire which is a stylized version of the G1 design but this specific figure is a repaint in the movie Jetfire colors.
Planet X's Victory Leo appears to be coming with replacement joints for Kadmos; while I don't expect you to order a new figure purely for spare joints I *am* curious what your thoughts are on Kadmos and HasLab's Star Saber!
The reason why the majority of fans dislike light-piping is because, unless the figure as a bright light source behind them at ALL TIMES, they're always doing an impression of "The Death of Optimus Prime" because their optics are dull and lifeless. Much better to use reflective paint on them instead, like a premium figure.
@DrLockdown , My opinion is: "If you’re going to do light piping, do it well, or not at all." Basically, if it's there, make almost the whole top/back portion of the head clear plastic, so it catches the light very well.
Ok first off I said referenced what I had said in your trigger happy review about Star Saber while I may have not been hundred on the molded, but what was that about not getting a new Star Saber?
