You can access warhammer plus in Canada through a sneaky workaround, which is that the 9th edition app still allows Canada subscribers to access warhammer plus.
You’re right I didn’t know about the kids novel. But I’m already subscribed though guess I’m unsubscribing than.
No room for a shovel, tho
Yes please do a vid on the Mentors! They weird me out than any other chapter they got like a CIA psy-ops feel
The space wolves successor chapter the wolf brothers making their own super space marines before primaris marines that made Bjorn sad 'if magnus didn't deal with them I would have'
Come for the hammers, stay for the Canadian broadcast requirements lesson
Damn right
From Vancouver and this is incorrect just a heads up. Warhammer plus and the army app and all benefits can be purchased in Canada as the app does not bring in enough Canadian revenue nor enough global revenue to be affected by broadcasting or streaming laws and is fully offered and operational to Canadians
Fun fact about the Mentors is that they're based on either the British SAS or the US Green Berets (A-Team). They do not fight normally, but instigate and help uprisings, train troops and so on. Basically if you need an exceptionally good army, you get a Mentor to help. I believe it was 4 brothers at most they send.
Makes sense
Yeah they sent a couple of them in Italy for operation gladio in order to train a bunch of fascist terrorists who killed a shit load of people through terrorist attacks
I think green berets are more hands on. I got the notion they were what Vietnam “US advisors” supposedly were (at the time. Hindsight shows it was much more than just advising and assisting at the top etc but just the idea sounded akin to a single space marine not being ABLE to do anything other than advise!
:)
@@TimJohniLL The Vietnam advisors were from many branches, but the one you're thinking is the MACV SOG, a CIA unit.
One of the best known advising and aid missions was the Viking Hammer during Iraq 2. They were able to uptrain Kurdish fighters (also this mission is the reason why high speeds have beards: no beard = child. They had to grow beards to be culturally taken seriously). They attacked an Al Qaeda stronghold and found a sarin manufacturing lab and plant.
This is what the Mentors seem to do. Liaise, advise and train. They will accompany the troops too, but they're more of a sekrit squirrel type deal. Something that Cawl has turned his Emperor's Scythes (I think that's the chapter that accompany him everywhere) into.
@pasqualeprota185 The mentors space marines did what now!
Could I get away running the Death Korps of Krieg, with a lone, likely frustrated, Mentor Space Marine? I mean, he’d love the enthusiasm, but…. ☠ ☠ ☠
Just say he's an Ogryn Sargeant or something, if someone has a problem with that, they're lame anyway
Hey, Old guy here. I have a Mentor Legion set of squads from first edition.
You could have ONE squad to add to your army as allies, be it a regular or elite squad.

Fun fact actually as far as Warhammer plus in Canada. I actually emailed GW about it because I wanted that nice Kasrkin model. Its actually due to regulatory issues GW is facing with bill C96 (French people in Quebec) rather than CanCon laws.
wait... Quebec did something that benefited *OTHER* provinces... sus... very sus
(no true hate to any becies, it's just fun to poke at you)
Get those sponsorships, Bonelad.
Edit: I'd call CanCon laws blocking the Warhammer app a blessing in disguise, my guy.
One fact i always find hilarious is that the golden throne is supposed to be where the first games workshop shop was.
The Imperial palace is in the Himalayan mountains. The Golden Throne is absolutely not in the UK.

Bonus 8th fun fact: Allegedly, gw customer service cited Quebec law bill 96 as the reason the app is blocked in Canada, not Cancon. Bill 96 states that all commerical products available in Quebec must be allowed in French. The GW customer service representative stated that because they can't just block it in Quebec, all of Canada needed to be blocked. I guess either the cost of translation was too high, or the CanCon rules would still apply and GW simply wanted us to be mad at Quebec.
Edit: all commercial, not all digital. That's why the ban only came up with the paywall.
After doing a little dive into Canadian online broadcasting laws, I think Arthur is just straight up wrong. Online streaming services that make over $10m Canadian dollars must prioritize their Canadian content without using algorithms. There was no mention of a quota for Canadian content at all.
A Warhammer plus subscription would probably be priced at $8-9 a month, based off of conversion from the British and American prices. Even if we rounded up to $10/month because maple tax, there would need to be over 10k people who play 40k, but are willing to pay GW $10/month to use a service that used to be free.
Edit: mistook monthly price for yearly, my bad.
>that reverie cover
God i love that book
Dark coil is the series i go to when i wanna be pretentious
I own the Kriegsman backpack, it's fucking awesome. Also got a Dark Angels 'wax' seal pinned on it. 10/10
That broadcasting law actually exist in France too.
I got a fun fact. Several black library authors are fans of the artist Archeon of Flesh… if you don’t know his work, he wrote the extremely cursed and messed up fan fiction “to break a soldier of the machine god”
"Hey, Johnson, we have this series from Britain with an insane fanbase and even more insane lore going back decades. Who should we get to narrate the Audio Books?"
"...Doctor Who?"
"Greay idea Johnson!"
"That's not what I...nevermind."
One interesting thing about GW losing the D&D license is that Gary Gygax wanted to adquire GW to turn it into a UK division of TSR. There were actually mutual talks about it but ultimately this didn't work out. As a result they lost the license and Gygax founded a TSR UK division lead by I guy that used to work at GW.
Another interesting fact is that back when they still had the license White Dwarf had this section in which they would publish the best monsters sent by reader that month under the condition TSR had full rights on the monsters themselves. The best monsters White Dwarf published would eventually be compiled into a book called Fiend Folio. This means that several iconic D&D monsters and races were originally published in White Dwarf with the Githyanki probably being the most iconic.
Nice interesting bit.😮😊
Oh!! One fact i really love! (And the way i got into warhammer in the first place)
Basically in the early days of rogue trader and second edition of 40k, Games Workshop let bands make music about the IP.
Most glaring examples are 2 albums:
D-Rok - Oblivion, wich has one song starring Brian May (Yk?? The guitarist from QUEEN??). The songs have also been used in the game Boltgun as OST.
Second example, and my favourite, is Bolt Thrower - Realm of Chaos, a death metal album all about the grimdarkness of the far future. Yeahh theres been some copyright issues years later, but goddamn as a metalhead do i love this album
There was a flex disc (a very cheap record) on white dwarf 95
heavy metal by Sabbat
Here is a little fact.
In the old lore the orks were made by the snotlings to be used as their version of space marines but lost control over them and then lost their mushrooms that made the snotlings really smart.
I'd imagine you could mix some geneseed but, much like our favorite warsmith they'd be looked down on heavily
About the trade school tangent, I am currently enrolled in basically the same thing, but its in upstate NY (its also called BOCES) I am currently taking welding, and tradeschool is amazing for those who are not going to college or who want to learn a new skill. I am already a certified welder in 4G structural steel and I have experience with CNC plasmas, would highly recommend for anyone who has the chance and is currently in highschool. Thank you for the amazing video.
would be cool if a mentors space marine was added to agents of the imperium or something- or a special rule allowing ONE mentor to be added to any imperium army
I was just saying to myself "You know, I really want a series of brief, vaguely interesting things". And you did not fail to provide.
There was a time when "unknown" was listed as the founding legion in Warhammer meant a mystery. Now it's just a shorter way to write Ultramarines.
I'm a fan anyway, but kudos on your top notch taste in horror. The books of blood are feckin brilliant. Never thought I would see Clive Barker mentioned on a 40k video.
God bless Arthur, a warhammer 40k video that does not deal with the god forsaken drama of the week, thak you my guy
he knows there is not point arguing about something that is wrong, offcourse im talking about GW not giving us more Sisters of Silence, i guess they dont care about female representation 😮💨
5:44 , you mentioning the wiki being wrong reminds me of how the 40k wiki is adamant that the Imperium uses AI.
They almost definitely do they just arent aware that they are AI
@@SpliffingBritmachine spirits are very much NOT AI, they're the result of the mechanicus praying so much

If I had a penny for every actor who has narrated a bit of 40k media and played The Doctor in Dr Who, I'd have 3 pennys. (David Tennant in Warhammer Adventures, John Hurt in the Ultramarines movie and Tom Baker in the Fire Warrior video game)
I am intrigued by the “soft power” political move of not allowing over a certain percentage of foreign influence into Canadian media while they’ve unleashed juggernauts on the rest of the world like Celine Dion, Drake, and Bryan Adams. That’s honestly pretty impressive. This is the most cutthroat I’ve seen Canada aside from some very disturbing World War 1 trivia. Sneaky leafs.
I knew most of this, but I’m not Canadian so I don’t get to leave
Another fun fact: Billie Piper (David Tenant’s companion) narrates the AOS kids books. Tennant only narrates the 40K ones.
I feel it worth mentioning, regarding the mentor using ultramarine geneseed, is that the ultramarines absorbed one of the forgotten legions.
I really like this idea for videos. You should certainly do more!
Thanks for covering the mentors they’re rarely talked about.
Haven’t finished the video yet but I bet I learn something new! Love your content!! Thank you!
With the like Special Forces/Green Berets style small team force multiplier tactics the Mentors should be a Raven Guard successor and they are in my heart
In my opinion "Secrets long forgotten" is just another bonus of 41k...Cog bois are having to explain their shit now and i love it.
Did buy the necklace you had a starforge sponsor for, have greatly liked it.
also you are not just cute, you are adorable.
You know I’m surprised you haven’t talked about servitors yet considering your mascot is a servo-skull

I got that Krieg bag a while ago. It's extremely well built and fucking awesome.
You're the best Bones this was a neat video I have some reading recommendations now.
CanCon, or probably some older equivalent, is why stuff like the Ocean Dub and Falconer OST exists with DBZ. Well the animation is kinda set, canadian voice talent, and the music got it over the threshold to my understanding.
Damn, I didn't expect to get a Books of Blood recommendation. The Yattering and Jack is fantastic! Are there any Warhammer Horror books you'd recommend, Boneman?

I don't even speak Russian lol.
Not warhammer related but narration related, Doug Bradley did narration work for Cradle of Filth, from 2000 to 2008 I think
Eeeeeyyyyyyy, earliest I've ever been to a vid.
Oh the fact we Canadians can't subscribe to Warhammer+ wasn't on my Mr.Bones 40k Bingo card.
there is always... alternatives... as mentioned... I won't post any actual links in the comments but they do exist
"Warhammer for Kids" seems like a really, really bad idea.
Hey, great vid, as usual! So, I always assumed CanCon is the reason behind no Warhammer+ here in Canadaland. But, also, I understand it's also because there are no French options provided, either. I could be wrong about this, but my source is someone in ze industry. (Not that this is an end all be all, of course.)
Also, fun fact: White Dwarf used to do Fiend Factory, which were AD&D monsters etc, which is where the super-lifted-from-GRRM Githyanki first appeared. This led to the Fiend Folio book from TSR in 1981. And, apparently, it was a total shitshow between TSR and GW at the time, which is one of the many things that led to Warhammer. Of course, I'm compiling all sorts of accounts, and I think Warhammer would have been a thing, regardless. Just a neat little D&D/GW hybrid factoid thing.
On a personal note: As an American immigrant to Canada (nearly 20 years, so I'm one of you, hey?), I always found CanCon laws interesting. Especially since I work in film and music. But at least it solves the mystery as to why Gowan has a fanbase.
Mans said give me a fair price and availability or ill put on my peg leg along with an eyepatch and I honestly feel that on a metaphysical level.
Also in the Emperors Spears, didn't the Mentor just get a blood transfusion? I know he also got bodyparts at the end of the book but it was only about half the story.
The laat fact about the Warhammer app not allowed in Canada, kinda same here in Austria. No diashow animations for us too.
I should have known Cancon was behind it all! 😂
For the life of me I couldn't figure it out lol
Crazy that as subjects to the irl same Emperor of Mankind (Charlie III of the House of Glucksburg) you don't get access to Warhammer+
Mentor chapter used to have a cool rule in the compendium book, "Targeting web"
Random fact: until fantasy 8th edition and 40k 6th edition, the Spanish translated version of warhammer used centimeters (but not the German one, for example)
Angron or Vulcan meet the primarch when?
Here in Brazil we just passed a law that is similar to that one you guys have in Canada, I hope it doesnt bring the same problems with other kind of subscritions like you have in Canada
Holy shit the Omori OSTs gave me a fucking whiplash, that game made me cry, probably the only game in 2022 that drove me to tears
I kinda feel Warhammer+ not being available in Canada is part of the "Can't have War in the name thing." It's why Beast Wars got renamed to Beasties, which is such a scuffed title.
Hey Arthur
Sorry if it's rude or so, but there is a problem in your stereo mix, your voice isn't at the "center" with differents headphone (wired and Bluetooth)
I suggest you to check it out, it's not a big thing for people on phone without headphone, or tablet or TV, but for many it could be a small problem
Of course, by saying that, no problems and the video is good, thank you
Mentors are green/white and their 4th company have green helmets...
Perfectly matching my own colours and numerical placement among my siblings ^_^
That whole talk about Canada and Warhammer+ would have made a great VPN ad
Can we get a longest "Uhh hi" in the intro for the next video? hahah
Mentor Legion is cool, I knew about them.
From the gene seed thing I kind of wonder if it like blood typing. Like UM gene seed would be like type O and have less antigenicity so recipients might have less of a response. When for example giving something like salamanders might give more issues. But idk that would be kind of neat for them to explain.
Bro what makes me angry is the fact GW don't want to be here in Brazil or even south america at all. There are consumers for that here that would happily pay for the books, miniatures, paints and etc. The only thing i can do now is wait and hope that when the henry cavil's series about warhammer on amazons releases they will bring the products

Wait wait wait... Why Geneseed incompatibility was a big deal when treating that single Mentor, but Astral Claws will just steal some Salamander's Geneseed in the Badab War?
A lot of the Chaos warbands besides the original legions don't have a direct and pure link with whatever legion they originally came from, they steal gene seed of whatever kind they can get their hands on and create new let's say Red Corsairs that are not true Astral Claws descendants but they get inducted in the warband anyway; they don't much choice about it, they have to become mongrels or become extinct. That's why they steal that stuff but they cannot use it to treat already existing Astartes.
I'm sorry that I already knew all of these but I subscribed anyway.
Welp, now I HAVE to get the Warhammer Adventures books for my daughter. Can use David Tenant as an excuse to justify it to the wife who is a Dr. Who and Good Omens fan xD
The dark Angel at @13:35 is based on Al Pacino, but I guess lots of people know that. But that’s all I have right now if that helps…
They are not successors of Star Scorpions, they were presumed lost in action because Emperors Spears and Celestial Lions were too ashamed to tell the truth, and new chapter was created and given their number and colors to honor them, that is why Emperors Spears protested at their creation and are on bad terms. It is also said in the book that Mentors have same gene father as Emperor Spears which happens to be Roboute Guilliman and that Star Scorpions had another one and didn't share their gene father. But it is hard to tell who that might be I assume its not the Raven Guard because there were no mentions of physical traits like pale skin or black eyes in that one Scorpion that took of armor and was prisoner.
Wait, they were to ashamed to tell the truth about what?
@@wernerfuhrythe Star Scorpions became a Chaos Warband, if the wider Imperium had knowledge of that they would had not re-used their colors.

Isn't it heavily hinted at that the Ultramarines and the Imperial Fists absorbed on a bunch of Space Marines from one (or both?) of those Legions?
I could see that being what that scene in the book is hinting at. Or at least, keeping intentionally vague. (Which could explain the wiki keeping their Progenitor listed as "Unknown", since we still don't know who the Primarch for the 2nd or 11th Legions are)

@@wernerfuhry Alr. So first off, nobody can decide on who got their positions first.
In Azrael: Keeper of the Truth, Ezekiel was already Grand Master of the Librarians, while Azrael was just promoted to Supreme Grand Master and Asmodai was only a random Interrogator Chaplain.
In Eye of Ezekiel, Ezekiel was a just promoted to being a standard librarian, but Asmodai and Azrael were already Grand Master and Supreme Grand Master respectively.
Also, until the “new lore”, Lion El’Johnson wasn’t just _missing,_ he was fucking DEAD. Also present in Eye of Ezekiel, after his soul gets yoinked by a daemon he travels in time and sees the history of the Dark Angels, including the Fall of Caliban. There he watches Luther MORTALLY WOUND THE LION (after getting critically injured himself in their duel), then after telling Cypher some secret stuff the Lion just keels over.
