- the first time, a prime minister of Jamaica has brought a lawsuit against the Integrity Commission (IC), the country’s anti-corruption watchdog.
The unprecedented move is contained in a multi-point affidavit filed in the Supreme Court on September 30 by the law firm Henlin Gibson Henlin, on behalf of Prime Minister Andrew Holness.
The prime minister has taken issue with major parts of a damning 171-page investigation report by the IC which was tabled in the Parliament on September 17. Essentially, the prime minister was under investigation for illicit enrichment, he had stated in the Parliament on the day the report was tabled that he would be seeking legal advice and now he’s fighting to clear his name.
Apart from wanting the IC's findings to be overturned, Holness is also seeking monetary compensation.
The IC’s findings in relation to its illicit enrichment probe of the country’s head of government were inconclusive and referrals made to the Financial Investigations Division (FID) and Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ), as the IC has indicated that it remains unable to certify the prime minister’s statutory declarations for 2021 and 2022. The IC said it had difficulty sorting through the business dealings of several companies affiliated with the prime minister, including several that filed nil tax returns with the TAJ, despite hundreds of millions of dollars of transactions.
Holness has now accused the IC and at least two of its directors of prejudice and wants the Supreme Court to declare the investigation report into his financial dealings “unlawful” and “unfair”.

It was really embarrassing to the PM's business out in the public with everyone making comments and different interpretation s of the figures. Even those who have no clue about accounting.

You're chatting rubbish, the IC is in no trouble. A Judicial Review is a request for a hearing and if the court does not sees it fit, none will be granted.

Ic deliberated hold is statutory declaration...cook up this to discredit the pm for their friends or brown paper bag pass...remember the ic member that got Rob..he did have brown paper bag 750g allegedly....the investigation was not done ..lack corporation from ic ...supu no right ...the court should let the people appointed competent person with integrity to work at the integrity commission office 🏬...this body of people drop the ball....illicit 6 then 8 we only get 2 report so far..so it take 3 yrs to do one report...the pm was set up....
