Rip SkyKing unlimited barrel rolls in heaven
Amazing the kid was able to fly solo and do barrel rolls in this aircraft with no formal training except flight simulator. AUG 2018, Tacoma Washington.
Greg inConway VIDEO OF F-15 from take off to interception to shooting the Q400 out of the Air... ruclips.net/video/mlMwMc7fDgk/видео.html - i personly believe their was Not any communication with the Q400 and what you hear on the pre recorded coms / frequency is some other jerky boy
RIP RICH, we know you were just trying to have some fun
Rich had some BALLS!
Rich sent me here.
X1area51 II me too
His last hour he was free, he lived...that's a lot more than most of us can say. I wish I could of tried to help this young man. This is very sad. You don't diagnose yourself. He was just going through something that would of passed it sounded like. He could of had a long career as a pilot. RIP Rich :(
Todd Davis They rejected him from flight school because they said they're program only had spots for minorities.
@@shelly8563 Sad....he shouldn't of given up on that or life. Looked like he was a hell of a pilot.
My son is a pilot on a Q400, I am proud of him.
Very cool, flying on an Alaskan Airlines one day after tomorrow
Rich was free man. These guys have thousands of hours in a Dash 8 and will cont flying it fore years, yet they will never know the joys of doing barrel roll right off the deck in one.
So much more enjoyable without music. Just the sounds of the aircraft are music to my ears
Rich the legend did the barrel rolls!!
On a dash 8?
HAHAHA you first
@@DennisAsiema why not?
RIP Skyking, this was the view that he had before his glorious life had been ended, in fashion.
Who is Skyking?
@@ThomasKop that one who stole the Q400 from Alaska in Seattle last month ago.
I came here to see what it would be like to fly with #SkyKing.
It's rare to find cockpit videos of this high quality, sensible camera focus and without the excess moving and shaking on RUclips, especially with the Dash8-400. I really enjoyed watching this.
Ha ha. Thank you.
Was probably luck more than anything.
Many happy greetings ........... (。◕‿◕。)
Nara.
Love the after takeoff flow! Flaps up > Bleeds ON/NORM > A/F OFF > Stby Hyd, PTU OFF > Prop 900
Thank you ............... (っ◕‿◕)っ
Ingenious checklist system on top of the dash!
How on earth did my hero Rich fly that beast?
Not only fly but barrel roll and back flip that thing .RIP skyking
I’m surprised how many Q400 vids now have flooding comments about rich.
Pretty interesting stuff. I’m sure this channel will be busy over the next few days so everyone can figure out how “Rich” did it. He seemed to have a pretty good handle on flying ? However unorthodox his skills were we’ll never know I guess.
I have to say, Bombardier sets up the cockpit and panels just right.
Gert Nel I’m no pilot but I’d love to know why you say this. Do you drive the Q-400?
Michael Bonner, I don’t think you “drive” planes.
I don't drive my boat, I swim it :D
Just enough right so a crazy person can steal it :D
The landing touchdown was edited out... he planted it a bit firmly.
I thought that too :-)
Jeff Beach I am guessing, but it’s possible that it was a bit windy/gusty. In such weather it’s better to be a bit firm than smooth
Great video, and good decision to re-upload with no music I love hearing the background noises!
Ha ha. Thank you ....... :)
My flight instructor flies a Q400 for horizon air. I am very proud.
Skyking?
Hurrah on no music!!
Rich broght me here
Can you imagine that moment when Rich said, "Fuck it, I'm gonna fly this bitch." And just took off. Stunning.
Im so excited to fly with the Dash8 from Hamburg to Bergen with Wideroe Airlines😊
I have just been on a return trip to Scotland from Southampton with Flybe on one of these. I was amazed at the power of the engines on takeoff. A bit noisy but that adds to the character. Very good aircraft in my opinion.
Never seen checklists like that. Practical.
Looks like the pilots had chicken Parmesan for lunch. I watched this video at 3:00 am and when I saw that, I got hungry, so I paused the video and made me a sandwich. These guys they are working in the best office in the world, an aircraft cockpit! I love these checklists!
Awesome checklist...btw, that is one excellent precision flying...great interception on the localizer on that final turn...spot on!
Thank you Charles ✔
I will pass your kind words on to the pilots flying ✈ ✈ ✈
Many happy greetings.
Nara
That had to be a hard landing
I could see the mama orca.
No music soundtrack! Totally appreciate that to take it all in :D
That was great! Good to have no music & be able to hear the crew
Thank you ........ (。◕‿◕。)
it is great without music - the aircraft makes its own.
Flip-up, dash-mounted checklists: Because having a single, laminated sheet of paper is just too cumbersome.
Yeah, that is quite the odd contraption they've got there for checklists.
Dash8 Q400. A lovely aircraft. I like them a lot. Nice to have an aviation vid without muzak ;-)
Thank you ..... (。◕‿◕。)
Love the video .. and yes, agree that it's much better without the music. Much nice to hear the raw sounds. Keep them coming !!
Ha ha. Thank you. Glad that you liked it Juanda ....... (ツ)
Qantas is probably my favourite airline. I'm aussie btw.
Same and same lol
@@MG101 who asked
One of the best videos like this. Thanks for leaving the sound alone.
Thank you ..... ✿◕ ‿ ◕✿
rip skyking
I like the chklist sliders idea so much!
I wonder if these guys think they can do a barrel role or a loop lmao.
Well, at least they know it IS possible, even if they dont want to.
Rip skyking
I like seeing all of the hand flying!
Glad that you enjoyed this little clip PilotMike B ..... (ツ)
Many happy greetings ✈ ✈ ✈
Im here for rich
i was an electrical installer at bombardier aerospace back in 2000. i know the wiring involved in the 400. most of the wiring runs right under the floor boards and behind the overhead bins..
Oh wow !
Awesome ..... (◕‿◕) ,,
Love your work @MrHelidude Thanks for the upload
You are welcome Sam.............(◕‿◕) ,,
Per someone else's comment I will forever call a barrel roll a Rich Roll. And hope to one day not have to explain sky kings story.
What excellent insight. Great footage!
Another great video! Can't wait to see more! Thank you
Glad that you enjoyed it AntD P3D
Happy greetings.
Nara ........ (ツ)
I will film the next time I fly on a Dash 8 ... I think they're great. Should be in September, fly down to Southampton.
Great Video! This plane must be a dream to fly!! Thank you!
Thank you kindly.......... (。◕‿◕。)
The captain seen here is now flying the Airbus 330's
It's not a jet, but piloting this Q400 must be just as cool.
@Brummiewellington still not a jet. but it is turbine. beats piston no matter how you look at it lol
I like this visual approach , good job team
50...40...30...20...10....oh god this is going to be hard!!! And they cut it. I think they just wanted to spare the PF's online reputation.
Ha ha. But that's not what happened.
I was a bit jerky with the camera plus just wanted the tape to fit in with the music version so I shortened the clip a little.
Then someone wanted the "no music" version so hence this upload but I had already edited it so the missing full touch down is a little missing. Sorry ! ...... (◕︿◕✿)
Ah cool, thanks for the reply. Yeah the touchdown's always a bit shaky, and for some reason everyone loves to complain about the music choice. I think it would be awesome to somehow plug into the ICS from the jumpseat and record the audio because you can never hear what they are saying.
Yay ! Glad that you understood that perfectly. Thank you....... ☆☆☆☆☆
The only time one can really show how the aircraft felt when the wheels touch the ground is to have the camera mounted to a solid base. Hand held techniques will always exaggerate the movement and most people will miss interpret that as a rough landing which is not the case at all.
Many happy greetings ......... (っ◕‿◕)っ
Nara
Oh ! This is the link to Sydney Tower but as to getting the audio of intercom between pilots and pilots to ground etc then one would have to put the headset ear piece over the mic recorder of the camera. Ha ha
Many happy greetings.

Ammazing Check List.
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing really enjoyed it
Thank you ..... (◕‿◕) ,,
✈ ✈ ✈ ✈
that has to be the most complicated mechanical checklist ive ever seen
probably the best turboprop!✈
Working on my career, still in flight training. Hope to get there one day.
Same here brother :)
If you are white you will be denied . Good luck in your struggle.
@@joesmith7123 the fuck are you talking about?
@@joesmith7123 Are you in South Africa?
@1:51 really nice angle! Liked. have never seen cockpit vids panning around. and I've watched lots.
Thank you ........... (ツ)
Cameraman lost consciousness during touchdown and regained it soon after.
Hi, excellent video, I agree with other viewers that it is far more enjoyable without music. Many, many years ago we always went in the cockpit to visit the pilots. What is your position on this flight? I also enjoyed your drive around Launceston
Love this one! That take off was so smooth! :)
Thank you Michael. Really nice to hear from you.
Many happy greetings.
Nara ........ (ツ)
NEEDS MORE BUTTROCK OR TECHNO TO BLANK OUT THE BEAUTIFUL ENGINES :D Nah only joking, so glad you didn't ruin it. Those props... rarrrrrrrrrr
Thank you and many happy greetings from Tasmania .............. (ツ)
hah...I love how you cut out the landing, incomplete flare.
Camera vibration on touching the ground and I was watching the landing, not at the camera, so had to take out a split second bit .......... (っ◕‿◕)っ
the same meal? Welcome to the hells kitchen on a flight!
Melbourne R16 down to Launceston and up the Tamar River! - Done that flight many times, but in jets.
I take 2 of these a week to Scotland/Northern Ireland with Fly BE , fantastic, Love Em !
STOL?
Just love the twin jet-props and enjoy watching them fly over our house on approach to CYYJ Victoria BC.
I have always wondered just what the props are doing during taxi when they periodically produce a very distinctive 'growl'. Is it from adjusting the pitch angle to produce more or less thrust when assisting a turn?
And the camera cut out....sounded like a carrier type landing..100......50....40...30..20.10!🙈😂
Thanks for this fantastic video!
Many many thanks and happy greetings to everyone in Toronto ......... (っ◕‿◕)っ
The propellers make a loud sound when the blades start beating the air (as they feather) rather than pulling the air.
I like that sound too and if we sit at a window seat right next to where the propeller is then it is really noticeable - the pitch angle of the blades changing.
So glad that you enjoyed the clip.
Thank you.
Nara ........ (ツ)
No music soundtrack? Good, better off without it.
*omits the harsh landing* lol
RIP #SkyKing
Very cool checklist!
What a wonderful video! Really enjoyed it - was that a visual circle-to-land approach by any chance?
Ha ha. Thank you Alexander.
Happy that you enjoyed it.
Oh ! and yes, it was a visual approach.
Many happy greetings OK.
Nara ....... (。◕‿◕。)
Very good,no music on!
Merci pour ce vol avec les pilotes d'avions.
very funny checklist over glareshield!)))))))
Are those stacks on the top of the glare shield the checklists? If so, that's a neat system!
It is!
I suppose that was a hard landing if You cutted that out
Ha ha. Actually it was a good landing but the camera did shake a bit and the video clip was getting a bit too long.
Sorry ...... (っ◕‿◕)っ
Nice video...thanks for making this. Me like sitting in the cockpit too. Very convenient checklist box on dashboard by manufacturer default. I would like to buy q400 sometime in future.....excellent plane for regional purposes!
Thank you ........ (ツ)
You can tell by the fast countdown that it was going to be a hard landing.
I remember it being rather a really nice flare & touchdown. But somehow my filming didn't do justice and shook when the wheels touched and I also wanted the tape to be a little shorter for the music version so some of that part was shortened.
Soooooorry .......... (。◕‿◕。)
i can see my parent's home!!! Nice vid. Thanks
Oh! That is nice.
Many happy greetings ok...... (ツ)
Farid Ganem it is very good helyhopter!
nice video....
and what are this black boxes with folding part we see @3:18, just after the "speedy" control of the stick commands, by both crew ? some form of checklist reminder ? it has been added on top of the dashboard, reducing angle of view, I imagine
Thanks for watching nanba25 ........ (ツ)
I think you might be referring to the mechanical checklist which is a Scrolling Checklist. Each panel can be raised or folded down with a shutter system used to either cover or uncover the item.
Multiple panels or individual items can be raised/uncovered at the same time ........ (っ◕‿◕)っ
Nice video!Keep going...!
Thank you ...... (。◕‿◕。)
cool checklist!
Good video. The Q400 is a fast, efficient turboprop. However, the ATRs are much quieter.
Thank you ......... (っ◕‿◕)っ
Wow !
I have never been on and ATR yet ...... ✈ ✈ ✈
Must be nice.
It was a pleasant experience. While I was vacationing and visiting family in Brazil and Martinique recently, I flew on Azul's ATR-72-600 and on Air Caraibes.' In the USA, where I reside, I have flown Alaska (Horizon Air's) Q400, Porter Airlines, and Air Canada Express.' The decibel levels between the two aircraft are slight to markedly different with the edge going to the former. Although turboprops, in general, as we are all aware, are noisy.
The ATR is much less powerful
beautiful Q400...nice video..from brazil
Thank you ......... (。◕‿◕。)
From Canada
I've flown on Dash 8 Q400'S from Melbourne to Mildura many times & If the pilots are using VFR flight rules how do they know when to start descending into a airport like Mildura?.
Some simple methods that I know are :
Distance to begin TOD = Altitude to ground x 3 (eg 30,000 feet to airport = 30 x 3 = 90 miles out.
Rate of decent = Ground speed / 2 x 10. So ground speed 300 knots, ROD = 300/2 x 10 = 1500f/m
or more simple calculations at selected rate of decent say 800 f/m and a height to loose 8000 feet then that would equal to approximately 10 minutes time to decent .......... (。◕‿◕。)
nice takeoff and landing
The pilots will be glad to hear. Thank you ..... (。◕‿◕。)
Is that normal to be so aggressive with the control checks?
So, is very very good video and no music is cool
Love these engines
Fantastic video. The amount of QF Dash 8Q400 flights I do a year, it's great to see what goes on in the flight deck. First flight deck video of taking off and landing in Oz.
Don't forget ALT-SEL :)
alt sel is a fucker but not as much as picking waypoints out of a numbered list.
Min 06:00.... thats my favourite moment ;)
Dash 8 ! .. nice !
nothing wrong with a twin prop ..

too bad you cut out the landing but great vid anyway. thumbs up :)
Well done. Hardly any room for a jump seat on these so, cameraman nice effort.
