The thing that I think made this game so great was the feeling that you were on a nonstop escape from the authorities that progressively got more intense over the course of the game. It felt open world without being open world really. They could make a sequel and it would work.

Although I dislike a majority of this mod, I really love how they redesigned city 17. Of course, nothing can top the OG city 17 but I also really like how it looks here

@@DoveStrider you can download bloom and lens flare mods plus their are some mods that change npc appearances which give the same results without porn. (Or just do what I do and download the mod without using the soft core porn options)

I like the mod a lot but there are some problems:
1. Player models aren't that great, like why are the elite combine soldiers like that?
2. The bloom and depth of field effects are too excessive and makes the world that is great to look at (both old and new versions) difficult to see from a distance
3. Coloring and shaders in many areas suck such as the evening levels because it makes the experience feel like the mod is trying to depart from feeling half-life
4. Use of trees and foliage in some areas: the combine drained out most of Earths water, which means the natural areas of the world should be barren rather than overgrown and detracts from the half life experience
5. Highway 17 is by the shore, not in a forest
6. Why is the combine ar now a G3A3?
It's overall a cool mod but some levels id prefer playing the original game. I'd rate a 7.5 out of 10 and is definitely worth trying. The new textures and more buildings and structures make the game setting even more attractive to view

Even with these mods this game brings back soooooo much nostalgia. Such a revolutionary game for its time and still to this day. I must have replayed it 5 times, life was so much simpler back then. I'm almost 30 now and boy do I miss the days of just gaming and not having to worry about a bunch of responsibilities.

Not really, I wanted to see why the fuck people hated this mod so much, but now I agree with them.
I really like outer world, a lot of great work is done. But the coloring is very unnatural. For example: 2:01:39 (blue sand, violet sky and orange water). Try to make it less contrast and try to use classic cinematic blue-orange color scheme. And there is also a lot of little errors, for example, a blue lamp gives yellow light on 1:56:15.

EXACTLY, the cinematic mod does NOT have all of these unnatural looking colors, It's just the person who uploaded this probably had the saturation level on too high. I think most modern screens have settings so you can adjust saturation level!

That old adage, 'less is more', is certainly true here. I appreciate all the effort that must have gone into this, but the creator should have dialed things back a bit.

I might have enjoyed this mod more if they made an option to use original weapons and animations like they did with character models. The ones in the mod are god-awful.

That actually seems a fair assessment. People might avoid his movies for the same reasons they're not keen on the mod, but there's no great harm putting it behind an age limit of someone wants to make or watch it
