What a fantastic idea. Not all of us need or can afford expensive equipment. This seems very much like what I need for my small acreage homestead. Thank you so much.
One of the most amazing things I've ever seen. I'm going to make my own hay this year as I'm very tired of paying for it and I can cut my grass with a scythe already just didn't know what to do without a machine to bale it . AMAZING
Very nice. One suggestion for operation. You should compress the material more often as you're loading it. It'll save your back more and get a better, uniform bale. Just like a mechanized baler.
This is a fantastic build option- great for a youngster to try too! This, plus a scythe, means you can do a LOT at an enjoyable pace. Thank you for sharing!! Did you also make the Hay Rake?
Well, now I know what to build to go with my family's scythes. That is sooo cool. Better than racking it over to the fences and piling it up for the animals there.
@@ruthnorman1922 it settles down and actually will last years doing it that way. If you have a buck rake it's actually a very quick efficient way of doing it.
This would be great in a grid down situation if there were no gas to be had or in very remote region where you have very few animals to take through the winter. But even when machinery is available it is a very hard and wearing job.
This is what you call an artisanal hay bail. Extremely low carbon intensive operation. Very cool. Cute but impossible to replicate. I grew up farming in Snowville UT on 1,285 acres. The whole valley 20 families farmed and ranched is now all owned by Berkshire Hathaway.
As the price of hay continues to rise, I've decided to save & use every blade of grass I cut this year. Drying & putting up hay loose or if I can find the blue prints for this box , I'll be hand baling my hay.
I could use that system next time my baler breaks down! I'll probably need about 50 of them ans hire 50 laborers. 😉 honestly thats pretty cool. I'd like to make one just to tey it out! Any plans out there?

Until now, I had no idea what I was going to get my wife for our up coming anniversary. Thank you.
Be sure to make the wood box big enough that it can be rebuilt into your coffin
Pretty sure hand mada hay bale isnt what she wants
That's OK for your rabbit. I suppose you skateboard it to the farm then.
@@daveb4026 no worries, just press hard enough
Hahahaha, are you still alive after disclosing anniversary shoping plan. ☺️🙏
You know I have seen boxes like that around old barns on my life and never realized what they were for thank you so much for showing us that
I’ll probably never have to make a bale, but that home made contraption was well thought out. Nice job
What a fantastic idea. Not all of us need or can afford expensive equipment. This seems very much like what I need for my small acreage homestead. Thank you so much.
This was the way they did it back in the day and still do it in some places. This is incredible work.
I may have to start doing this. I just need to find a way to cut the hay longer first.
Ingenious , how clever, well done!

Look up some of the Latin kids balling their machine is allot more efficient.
🐮😀🐫
hay stacks! Even easier... much easier.
I bale small bales with a 5 gallon bucket for my hens bedding. 30 small bales store very nicely
When I worked on a dairy farm, we wold put up 1200 bales in one day. I'm glad we didn't use that.LOL
Those 1200 bales weighed 55-60 pounds each. You put up the equivalent of 4,200 of those hand made bales.
Love this video this is how everybody used to do it back in the old days 1899
They had better bailers for over a century before 1899. Keep in mind that 1899 had machine guns and telephones
No shit
I like how he runs with the rake that should be a Olympic sport
That's a bit of the know how! God bless amen.🇬🇧
It’s brilliant! Good for small farms

Probably doesn't want a 90 lber, maybe? I was thinking the same thing.
Good plan and nice music!
Flying Dutchman2 ; I recognize the tune from a children's show my son used to watch! I believe it was called "The ladybug's pic-nic"

Very fine job. I clap my hands with.

Good afternoon!
This is life changin machinary in developing country. Thanks
No one:
RUclips: hey you wanna see a guy make hay bales by hand?
Me: I thought you’d never ask
🤣😂
Right like youtube tryna teach us how to go off grid
Wonderful innovation

Nice work Farmer

Nice video,
Very good ...i have a lot of wood can i make like this i need just the method and sizes
good work
Pretty cool. Kind of slow though. I think I will stick with making a pyramid of loose hay and covering it with a tarp.
David Bennett in that scenario you would have little hay taking up a large area.
@@ruthnorman1922 it settles down and actually will last years doing it that way. If you have a buck rake it's actually a very quick efficient way of doing it.
Makes more sense to do it your way.

Great video BTW, may have to build one for my homestead, God bless.
Very nice video
Wow amazing
Splayed out throat pieces like a funnel at the top would help make the unruly hay stay where you can stuff it easier
Nicely done 👍!!!
Make a miniature version of this. Make small bales and sell them at flea markets, etc. as decorator items.
Amazing
very very nice
Fantastic
i think I would end up having to make the box a little bit bigger to justify the amount of labor involved in getting just one bale lol nicely done
Empacadura manual de heno
Their baller it's way faster and more efficient.
Hay that's pretty cool 😁
круто!
гениально и просто

Can we use another grasses apart from this?
Can I buy that?
But how does it flake
Sir please give mesilage making box link or ideas
How long does this last before spoil and also does this not need to cover? Thanks.
Here in UK good hay can last several years if stored in a dry, well ventilated barn
Nice
Great......
Just 1199 more to go.
nice

I like to make one of these
Handy
Wow
Great!; kindly could you make a step by step video on how to make this baler?

Not at the moment sorry but here's another link to plans
That’s cool! But it would be a long day baling hay that way.
Are we not need to dry it before keep,?
Yes this is dried in the sun and wind. Making good hay is a whole story in itself.
Im trying to find (how to make mini hay bails for rabbit’s) but this is good
Perfect for small holders and homesteaders.
3.5 of those bale has the same amount of hay as one standard bale. It makes more sense to buy hay than baling it by hand.
Can you give us the detail about the baler size ? Dimension and drawing please. Thanks
The link for the plans should be in the comments
What do you use to record your videos?
bon génial, ça marche mais faut pas être pressé
Thats a great gadget, is it patented? 😣

Классно придумал👍👍👍вот бы размеры опората.
Это наверное парень с Прибалтики он по русски ни гу гу,принцип понятен если сделаеш чуть шире или уже разницы не будет.
Do you sell plans for this!?
I would rather put lose hay ip than that lol. A lot of dlow work . But it's really Kool.
Paul LS Is this an original idea that you came up with to make bales or was this done before machines starting baling hay.?
guidetograssandguns.wordpress.com/2018/07/22/russian-style-manual-hay-baler/
It’s a basic example from 19 th century.
Mantap
Similar to how we made tobacco bales.
I cant find the link for planes.... please can show it to me?? Many thanks
Hi.. what are the dimensions of the box
His arms must be covered in itchy scratches after that

Still faster then a Massey Fergusson 12 baler.
👍👍👍👍👍👍⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Save money doing it this way
Great video...
I have one smartass comment if your using a machine no matter how primitive it’s not handmade.
This is great to watch though..
So is it just dried grass?
LIBqueen yes, but don’t let a hay farmer hear you say that.
So its cut dried innthe sun then baled for fall winter feeding
Does he have enough to do?
