Reading some Steinbeck. Just finished on audio, Travels with Charley. So good and narrated by Gary Sinise. Now I'm tackling East of Eden. It's a big book but I'm very invested. Glad to finally be getting to it.
Moonbound sounds promising. It reminds me of the short story, “Nightfall,” by Isaac Asimov, in which a civilization anxiously awaits its first eclipse on a planet that never experiences sunset. I am reading an old favorite, the Lord of the Rings, but this time in Spanish.
I left you a comment on your first part of books you have read this year. You graciously responded. Thank you. I left a comment on your response. Does RUclips notify you of such secondary responses? Safe trip to Montana. Wave when you pass Salt Lake City.
I'm very intrigued about Moonbound! The author has a great newsletter that I enjoy a lot however I tried reading one of his novels and really didn't like it. The premise of Moonboud though does sound compelling.
Your books to read are all new authors to me. Sadly, I've only managed to read a few books this year 😢. I've had problems with concentration, which unfortunately crops up for me every so often . As a result, I've not reduced my stash of unread books by very many. Think last year I managed to read about 120 (will have to check the exact total on goodreads!) books. Currently reading Weyward by Emilia Hart (her debut novel), which is ok so far.
OMG you had me at Now and Then (it was my favorite movie growing up)! But you also said an adult version of goose bumps... I am totally reading Middle of the Night by Riley Sager. Remarkably Bright Creatures was my favorite read for 2023. I hope you love it as much as I did!
I have read The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken and Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett and would recommend both! I don't have a list because I get a lot of my books at the library, so whatever I can get from my long want to read list on Goodreads is what I get! I love these videos from you, thanks for making them!
Sound like an interesting read for the summer, looking forward to hear how you liked them. Just finished "A Master of Djinn" by P. Djèlí Clark which I think you might enjoy (Fantasy Steampunk novel set in 1912 Cairo, winner of 2022 Nebula award). Currently reading "Faceless Killers" by Henning Mankell (first in the Inspector Wallander series, Menkell is for me up there with PD James), and to follow are "The Honjin Murders" by Seishi Yokomizo (Detective Kosuke Kindaichi, #1), and "The Dark Forest" & "Death's End" by Cixin Liu (second and third book in the Three-Body Problem trilogy).
I’m having fun reading too. I’ve gotten some good suggestions from your videos so I started The Mystery of the Clockwork Sparrow. And I have Babel up after that. I have read Remarkably Bright Creatures and I really loved it. That’s one I’ll probably read again. I just finished The Secret Book of Flora Lea which was a good mystery. Another favorite series is Veronica Speedwell- murder mysteries set in Victorian England- very fun!
I’ve got the following books on my to-read list: Unnatural Death by Patricia Cornwall, Holly by Stephen King, After Death by Dean Koontz, The Bank by Bentley Little, and DMV by Bentley Little. I’m going to wait for your after-reading reviews before I’ll decide which of yours I’m interested in.
Evelyn seems like an interesting read! Adding that to my TBR! I think that I am going to try to reread through the Lord of the Rings this summer after finishing Memoirs of a Geisha and Big Magic. :)
It's not a summer read, because I'm in the southern emissphere ... :) ... but I just read "S." by J.J. Abrams and Doug Dorst. At first I thought it was just a novelty book, a bit of a gimmick; but I ended up really enjoying the reading experience; A fun book for people who enjoy the physical aspect of reading, writing and books in general. I'm buying a copy of "Outlawed", seems like a very interesting read.
I’m reading the Cormoran Strike Novel series by Robert Galbraith, aka Jk Rowling! I’m on the last book of six….so good! Private detective series set in London. I’ve read them back to back in the last 6 weeks. Books are long ranging from 465- over 1000 pages! Great series!
Eileen is good but A year of rest and relaxation is way better. I dunno if it's really horror though. Its just sort of vile and vulgarn in a lot of places
Do you think you will ever do another pen/ink video? I miss those from you.
Suddenly realised hadn't seen a video for a while, wondering how you're doing?

That is my favorite book. I first read it in high school. I just named my Royal FPP typewriter Charley after the Steinbeck's poodle.
Thank you for the book recs! We loved Remarkably Bright Creatures. Enjoy and safe travels!

Yes, I want to read them all!
I loved Remarkably bright creatures! You are right, it is a good readable book :) I hope you'll enjoy it
Saw the copy of The Windup Bird Chronicle I gave a friend sitting on her bookshelf last weekend and felt like it was time I re-read it.
Thanks!

Very curious about Eileen. I vaguely remember hearing about it somewhere!

The octopus book is really good

Otesssa Moshfegh is very particular taste, so don't be surprised if you don't vibe with it.
Have you ever recorded for an audiobook? You have the kind of voice that's perfect for it :D
@@cebukitty I have not, but I have certainly thought about it and would love to do something like that!
:)
