Tripoli is not any different. while the old souks are very interesting, there is a new Tripoli with high rises and plethora of nice restaurants. You should have visited Mina during the day as well. This is where I spent my childhood and teen years.

    8:55 in standard arabic, orange is called "برتقال" which is pronounced like "burtuqal" while lemon is called "ليمون" which is pronouced like "laymoun". So I think only le lebanese (maybe other levantine accents too) are confusing in that regard haha.
    In maghreb countries like my Algeria, it is completely different, orange is called "tchina" and lemon is called "qares" (and even these I think change from province to province...)

    • @20CamelsEmily
      @20CamelsEmily  2 года назад +2

    The coastal town where you had dinner is called Mina or Al Mina and that's my hometown. Although I haven't been living there for over 30 years yet I visit often except the last 2 years and I have a house there. Tripoli and Mina are not dangerous places and actually they are the least dangerous in Lebanon yet for some reason Tripoli has this bad reputation which is relatively recent but far from the reality. Too bad the government doesn't invest much in it although it has a lot to offer and can be a great tourist destination especially with it's marine life. Mina has few islands that are both nice and very close from the city. Every time I come to visit I do make sure I stop by the soap factory and the souk at least couple of times. I visit lots of old mosques, some are hidden and not very known to non locals... As far moghrabiye, you could have ordered the sandwich version of it which is how locals eat it, it will come with all pickles and stuff inside. Usually you should put some salt on top, that's why probably you felt it was sweet. All in all, nice video. You guys have the talent to make your footage raw and authentic.. good job!!

    Is this ramadan 2022?
    And since am asking this question, I think adding the date of which the video was filmed would be nice.

    Tripoli is where I am from & it is the best place on earth 👍🏻. There r other soap factories that are more famous than the ones u went for. My family used to have soap factory in the past & some of my relatives still have it “ Oueida” & there’s also Hassoun soap factory.
