I grew up watching this show, but I had no idea there was a real story behind it. I'm now fascinated to find out more . Thank you for this amazing video x
Sure enjoyed this! We had a wringer washer when you were a toddler. It was a huge blessing! For heavens sake go to Wilder Days! That’s an amazing opportunity!
The first Nomaders back in those days but they had it a lot tougher.. at least no Rangers or cops back in those days lol.. My nana was a curator of a huge old Museum... I had such fun I loved it☺ I appreciated the beauty and great craftsmanship they used back then.. definitely a lost art..soooo different back in those days..
I would love to have one of those old washers. They do sell them now. Can you imagine alot of people living like that now days? Now that I'm retired and don't have a family to take care of I could.
We really enjoyed the visit and hope to return sometime to see a bit more that we didn’t have time for on our first visit. It was so much more comprehensive than we had expected!
You guys are amazing! I am so glad to see people of my generation that read the books who would also want to go and see where she lived. It's my dream to go there as well as Walnut Grove to see Plum Creek. Thank you so much for such a great video with such good information and great pics and video too. I love your guy's energy!
We enjoyed it so much that we found ourselves thinking it would be worth a return visit - if for no other reason than to camp in one of those covered wagons!
@@RobertWitham you should buy your Wife the novel Caroline. It's the Little House on the Prairie book but told from Ma's perspective. One of the most beautiful books I ever read. I know she'll like it as well
I got hooked on genealogy years ago. Interestingly, I discovered that I’m related to the Ingalls bloodline via my Mother’s bloodline. There’s like a whole segment that reaches out west. Even today.
I’m really excited to learn about this. There are so many places and things to see in the US. I’m planning to go to SD in the Spring, so I’ll look this up to see if I can add it as a stop on my route. If, sounds like it might be well-worth a detour!
I had been through SD more times than I can count now, but never stopped before. This time we decided to make the detour and really enjoyed this site. There is a LOT to see and experience.
Oh wow! I don't remember seeing that, but was definitely impressed with the sod. We have to go back sometime when we have more time to look around. For some reason, we didn't expect there to be nearly so much to see and do there!
I’ve been to three of their former homes throughout the country. I have read and love the books since I was a child and have two sets a hardback set and a soft backseat that I gave away. At age 59, I still read those books about once every year! In my opinion the show was a disappointment! I never watched very much of it at all.
I have been passing through SD for years now and seeing signs, but never took the time to see this site. I’m glad we did it on this trip finally though.
To this old 'Laura Ingalls Wilder' fan - this is exciting!

We're glad you enjoyed the video! It was a treat to see this place and it honestly exceeded my expectations.

Definitely GO BACK to the weekend event! I’d really like to see what that’s like.

That was cool, I enjoyed it! Nice little diversion, many thanks 🙏❣️
I would say things have changed. Good one guys!
Great tour, guys. I love those wringers. Much easier than squeezing the water out of clothing by hand. Lol. Oh you should go back! 👍
Yes, go back and do it! What an awesome day trip!👍😊❣️
How cool was that? Great video…I really enjoyed. Thank you for sharing 🙏

I’ve been there a couple times. I absolutely love Laura Ingalls Wilder! All the history is So interesting!🤗
Hey you were in my state!! The homestead is very educational and indeed very different than the TV show

Very cool video
How about the book where they about froze that winter? Burned tired up bits of hay... woke up with frost on their blankets.

Thank you. It would be more helpful if you left the pictures of the interior of the house up longer (before going back to the two of you).

Did you get to see the house of mud? When the settlers ran out of sod they used mud.

I drove so close this summer and decided not to bother…silly me
