When I was just a kid, about seven or eight years old, you could walk for miles on the beaches of South Florida without meeting another person. On the shore near Ft. Myers Beach, while walking alone and picking up shells to add to my already sizeable collection. I found a huge, perfect Junonia! That beautiful shell turned me into a dedicated collector and by the time I reached my twenties, I had amassed an enormous collection of shells and various gifts from the sea. Sadly, it was all taken from me after I moved to Tennessee over thirty years ago, breaking my mermaid's heart. I still have a pair of ancient Queen Helmet shells, each nearly the size of a soccer ball. They are my prizes from the sea, though both were gifted to me by another collector. Going along with you on your shelling excursions takes me back to the beaches of my youth and I especially love the quiet time when you allow the voice of the waves to wash over my beach-starved soul. It brings tears to my eyes every time I close my eyes and imagine that I'm sitting in the sand with the salty sea breeze teasing my hair to play along. Your videos are such wonderful medicine for me. Thank you from the bottom of my landlocked heart! I really like to watch your videos when I cannot sleep. Your peaceful, calming voice, along with that sound I know and love, the lullaby of the Gulf, help me to fall into a restful slumber. I greatly appreciate your contribution to my life. Hope you find a Junonia soon! Oh, just so you know, I found lots of those Cross Hatched Lucines along Pensacola Beach. Perhaps one got moved by the storm...? I think your mystery shell is a lion's paw, but I could be mistaken.
Thank you for taking me down your memory lane. It sounds absolutely lovely. I can imagine myself when I say, "10 years ago, you could...." as I've only been here for 2-1/2 years, so I'm making up for a lot of lost time. There are certain times when I'm making my videos that I am overcome at how beautiful nature can be. I try as hard as I can to capture the moment, but I wish everyone could experience it for themselves, just once. You're very lucky to have such wonderful memories! I will find that junonia one day. Or it will find me. And as I hunt, I'm having the best time exploring the beaches to see what treasures the gulf has washed up that day. Thank you so much for coming along with me on my beach walks!
We love your channel...we take a walk with you every morning. I am 70 and disabled from a car accident. I used to constantly walk the beach and at least 3 miles a day. I miss it. Not enough beaches provide beach wheelchairs. I love it when they do. My husband is able to take me right to the water!!! Very happy moments. Please keep taking us for beach walks. And we love our Beach Time!!
I wonder if you have seen this video yet. Lovers Key has free beach wheelchairs for use at their park! ruclips.net/video/39TKDgO5xEQ/видео.html One of the things I really like about FMB and Lovers Key is the hard packed sand. It's much kinder on wheels than some of the other beaches. Thank you so much for coming along with me on my beach walks and watching my videos ❤️
Wow, you made a haul today ! I love learning the names and seeing the variety that you come across. I look forward to Sunday nights getting to see the fun you have. Have a great week everyone.
I love watching your videos and look forward to them every Sunday! I learn alot and I LOVE how well you show your treasures when you find them and how well the footage is of the beach walks, how you edit them to do the voice over explaining so well and so informational!! I love to hear the ocean and beach sounds (birds etc) too but I don't like when people have footage and the wind is so bad that I can not hear what someone is saying because it is so windy and yours are never like that and I REALLY appreciate that!!! Thank you for making great videos that are so pleasant to watch!!!
I actually started making videos a bit before I started beachcombing, so I have a little bit of a head start when it comes to the whole production of a video. I want to make it easy on me, however taking the extra time to do a voice over once I'm home gives me lots of flexibility and also creates a better viewing experience. Thank you for letting me know you appreciate the work I put into my videos! ❤️
I really appreciate when you include the stats of your location, time of low tide, temp ect. It makes me feel like I am there on the beach especially when you give us "Beach Time". We won't be back down for several months so your channel really gives me the peace that water brings to me.
I'm glad I can keep getting you to the beach even when you're not here. And I am just a very inquisitive person by nature, so I try to include the info that I would want to know if I were watching. Thank you so much for coming along with me!
When you started finding the chestnuts, I thought to myself, ‘I hope she finds a nutmeg so I can see the difference in one video up close,’ then you did and my wish came true when you had them in your hand at the same time. I love when you show us the differences in shells that seem identical...like the lace and apple murexes. Thanks for sharing and educating me!
You are so welcome! I got lucky and managed to find so many different species and I didn't know the variety of colors those chestnut turbans would come in. Who knew?! Thanks so much for coming along with me on my beach walk! 🐚
I'm new to Sharmon's channel, and I'm binging on the older shows. I saw this and my attentions turned to a lamp I have with a jar base. (It was full of shells when Mom brought it home. Im land locked here.). ."What ? Is the lamp full of about a kazillion shells whitish, chalky.... No !. Chestnut Turbans ?. Yes !!!" I opened that sucker up and soaked a few of them, and had the similar patterns she was finding !. Even found an operculum !. The lamp had a big fish vertebra, a few bits of finger coral and a broken fighting Conch which is very interesting. About the Nutmeg: they have a more intricate apperature opening than theTurbans do. Alot going on in that mouth. I'd like to have a bigger one some day, mine is about BB sized, lol ! I Enjoyed your comment, Blessings !
I love your chanel also.and i dont have to bend over! My grandmothers collection from the 30s on Captiva and my finds of Santabel a few years back is wonderful to see now. Thank you.
You are amazing! you give so much information, I am so glad you do as you help immensely when it comes to identifying MY shells. And it’s not just the shells, you give so much by way of interesting snippets. I for one, am very grateful. 7 more sleeps till the teaser lol. Stay safe x
What an amazing array of different shells! I appreciate how you tell us what your finding and when you find a rare one. The coral is really cool too. Thanks again for a great walk on the beach!
Yes, you have been very helpful in educating this shell huntress. I've learned a lot from you about the variety, size, color, etc., of shells in your area. And, your videos are topnotch: you clearly spend a lot of time recording & editing your videos, going out to great beaches, hauling your treasures home, cleaning and displaying your beautiful finds and providing a lot of tips (education). You talk about Shell Crafts, but I haven't seen any quite yet (I'll be looking after this vid). Many Thanks for all you do! 😀 ❤
I have only had the time to make a shell mirror: ruclips.net/video/Mf5SVm8m5n8/видео.html But I'm in the process of making a sea shell picture frame. I just need to shoot the final touches but that will be coming soon!
I loved all the shells you found today, amazing sizes & colors. When I first started watching your videos I didn't know one from the other & now I know so many. You've taught a New Yorker how to recognize shells & what beaches to visit. Thank you. I've always been fascinated with sea shells & now even more. Happy Shelling, maybe some day I'll visit Fla & go shelling. 🏖🦂🦀🌤🐬🐟❤
Well if you do make it down here you'll know what beaches to visit and probably a whole bunch of shells too! Thank you so much for coming along with me on my beach walks! 🌴🌊🐚
That was an amazing walk!! I love how you talk about the shells and the water. I thought too that when the ocean is rough like that that there would be a lot more shells up on the beach but I was surprised. You did great with your finds today. Can't wait til next week, looks like it's going to be another great walk!! Have a great week and thank you for bringing the beach world to us!! 😊🐬
I was hoping for big piles of gorgeous shells but it was not to be, but I'm certainly not going to complain! I did manage to find a bunch of neat stuff to share. Next week is going to be awesome!! Can't wait to share. I hope you have a great week!
In case any of the mystery shells are still mysteries, yes the one at 19:45 is a red brown ark, the chunky big thing at 27:25 is the bottom valve of a leafy jewel box (the biggest jewel box species of several species in FL) and the one at 33:30 appears to be a crested oyster. You had some nice finds! Hinged lady in waiting venus and the depressed top shell in particular.....
Thanks for the IDs! With some help I was able to figure out the red brown ark as well as the oyster but I got a whole lot of different opinions on what that other lump was. I think it's plausible it's the leafy jewel box as you've said, but somethings these worn down shells leave their clues behind. Thank you so much for watching and helping with the IDs!
I discovered your channel a few weeks ago and have been binge watching, love your style of video ( no noisey wind blowing through to mic.) and very informative, I’ve learnt so much about shells, I use to shell a bit years ago but never new any names, you’ve inspired me to get back out there, I’m in southern Australia and we don’t have the beautiful shells you have but still nice to get out there, thank you. 😃🐚❤️🇦🇺
You are so very welcome! There is an Aussie sheller, Shellcade and he puts out shelling videos too. It's fun to see what creatures live in another part of the world and I'm happy to share these awesome Florida beaches! Thank you for watching!
@@SWFBeachLife I love Jono who does Shellcade videos from Australia! You two are my go to shellers! ( : Best of both worlds! He always references your shells as well! ( :
Your videos every Sunday have become one of my favorite things! I have learned so much from you. From identifying shells and critters and what to look for! I was at Navarre Beach last month and found quite a few olives (found a black one..my favorite find ever!), many bittersweet clams, speckled tellins, and quite a few flats. I loved being able to identify so many shells because of what I've learned from you!!! Thank you so much! Can't wait til next week! That cone...ohhmygosh! Lol
Thank you so much for letting know! That black olive sounds spectacular! And no matter how many times I've been to the beach to go shelling, I'm always amazed when the shells are just sitting there waiting to be found. I can't wait to share all the other goodies I find!
My husband passed this May 2021, and we ALWAYS Loved walking on the Beach's and collecting Shell's, and when our Daughter came along, the Tradition goes on, being together and Sharing, God is so good. We called the one shell the Bow Tie, Thanks for shell 🐚 Thanks for the Memorie's
I took my daughter shelling last week. She actually knew quite a bit of the shells - I was impressed! Nature provides such amazing things and I'm so happy I can share my experiences. Thank you so much for watching!
Love your videos! You do a great job of describing the shells. Like to see the live creatures when you’re able to be in the water. It’s obvious you’re having a good time which makes your videos even more fun to watch. Thank you! ❤️😀
the lace murex and the hinged calico clam are beautiful. I cringed at all the beautiful shells you passed up. ( for the record....unbelievable amount of kitten paws in them shell piles. I have never seen so many at one time) Thanx again, for taking us along!
I do admit I've gotten a little more picky about what I bring home. It's unbelievable how much work it is to sort and clean shells! I can imagine me on a beach where I didn't know the shells - I would be picking up everything!!! Thanks so much for coming along with me on my beach walk! 🌴🌊🐚
Just wanted to thank you. After a year of watching your videos (the best for shelling on a beach) I have been educated to a point of knowing what to look for and seeing things I would have probably overlooked. For the last 12 years, we usually spend 3 weeks on North Captiva during mid October - early November. This last visit, for the first time ever, I found flats, apple murex, banded tulips and lace murex. I was like a kid in a candy store. There was a storm which I welcomed because of the great shelling after. However it wasn't until the third or fourth day before we encountered the Mother of all shell piles and her daughters. Amazing what nature shows us. Thank you for bringing enthusiasm and expertise to a most enjoyable video experience.
I love this!!! I'm so happy I was able to help you identify some of those beauties our beaches have. It sounds like the the beach was very kind to you and have you piles to go through. Awesome! The beach changes everyday and I never know what I'm going to find!
Love this site! I'm a shellaholic!! There were no shells at the beach where I was this summer, so watching your channel is almost like I am there with you!
You have taught me a LOT of information about shells. I knew I loved all the different ones but I had no idea what they were called and honestly, I didn't know there was such a variety in southwest Florida. I'm going to Shell Camp in January and I'm hoping I find two of the ones that you found so many of on this episode, the chestnut turban and the nutmegs! I watched your presentation on the Beach-combing Magazine special and I thought it was great! I guess you could say that watching your SWF Beach Life RUclips channel has created a shell monster out of me! Thank you SO much for sharing your walks with us :)
Hello shell monster that I am glad I created 🤗 If I can make the beach and the shells just "this" much more interesting, then my job is done. I like to think of it like a museum - it's way more interesting when you know a bit of the history behind the art. I think the beach can be the same way. If you know a little bit about what you're finding, it makes it just a wee bit more entertaining. I'm so glad I've been able to help you along on your beach knowledge journey and I am super jelly about your Shell Camp. I might look into that for 2023!
Shell Camp!?! 😲 What a great idea! That sounds FUN! I absolutely love shells; they are like precious gemstones & no two are alike. Have a great time at Shell Camp. I wish we had something like that out here in California, but even finding shells out here on the West Coast is challenging. Guess I'll have to put Florida on my bucket list (I've always wanted to go to FL). Happy Shelling 😊
You’ve taught me so much since I discovered your channel a couple of months ago, thank you! I’ve watched quite a few others but yours is far and above the best, in every respect! I can’t imagine how many hours you spend on editing, but it shows! We’ll be staying on Sunset beach in Treasure Island January through March so making a list of must visit beaches 😉
It sounds like you are going to have PLENTY of time to go beach exploring! I hope you find everything you're looking for! Thank you so much for the kind words as well and coming along with me on my beach walks!
I have really enjoyed watching your shelling adventures. I’m new to shelling and you’ve been a font of information about them. Thank you so very much for sharing!
SO many kitten paws! LOL Anyway, I grew up in Florida and am gobsmacked at how much I have learned from you. I am taking notes in anticipation of coming back for a visit sometime next year. Thank you so very much. Your videos are fun and informative!
I really have to incorporate gobsmacked into my vocabulary - LOL! I am fascinated with all the amazing goodies I find out there. And I never know what's going to be out there so it's always an adventure. Thank you so very much for watching and coming along with me!
Your videos are great for even the seasoned sheller. You're keeping our eyes sharp! I've learned SO much about the correct names of shells & sea critters from watching your videos, too. I can't tell you how many times you've named a shell & I'm like, "So, that's what I found in Myrtle Beach!" We don't find shells nearly as beautiful or as plentiful as what's on your beaches. However, the occasional exotic shell pops up & now I know what it is. We find Olives the way you found those Chestnut Turbans today. That's our state shell. Thanks for another awesome upload!
I am a bit spoiled and we do have the best shelling beaches down here (in my humble opinion) so I'm happy to share all the wonderful goodies I find out on the beach. I love those lettered olives! Thank you so much for watching!
Your timing is impeccable! I am releasing a video tonight to show my shell collection. I don't do all that much with my shells but I get so many questions I went ahead and put a video about my collection together 🤗
I have learned so much from your videos. Not only about shells but about low and high tides. I don't live near a beach but as soon as I can take a vacation to a beach I hope I can find something awesome. Thank you for all these fun beach walks.
Hi my beach friend, That rough sea with the seafoam is how the North Sea in the Netherlands looks most of the time, including the wind. 😁 Unfortunately we don't have those amazing shells, just some simple clams. You did great in the Chestnut Turbin department! And all the "new" species you've never found before. What a great haul you had that morning at the beach. 😍 You really start to wonder what all the other people on the beach were looking for, since you've found so many amazing shells. I've been searching online for that brown clam you've found. It looks like a "Barbatia Barbata" and is also found on the West Coast of Florida. But maybe I'm totally wrong, just guessing the species. Time for me to go to sleep now, it's already 2.43 AM. But I wanted to see your beach adventure before I went to bed. Wishing you a lovely Sunday and a wonderful week. And thank you for your kind words last week, it really touched me. 💕 Big hug and lots of love, xoxo ❤, Ilona
Hello beach friend! I am VERY impressed with your shell research! I think the shell is a red-brown ark (someone else identified it) and it is indeed in the Barbatia family - I believe it's a Barbatia domingensis! It's a little tough to figure out the exact shell but if you can figure out the "family" it's in, it's a little easier. I was coming up with nothing! I hope all the news you have been getting is good news and I hope you have a wonderful week. ❤️❤️❤️
What a great beach walk for you !! I so enjoy your videos, you are always so informative on shell identification, where and how to find them. Thanks for taking us along.
Hello, wish I could shell further south. I'm obsessed !! I loved shelling a few miles off Tarpon Springs on what we call the North Sandbar wich is off Anclote Key.... I have buckets of Chestnut Turbans. I find it interesting they aren't as plentiful further south. Also the amount of sand dollars we find is insane. Unfortunately coming across a dead one is very very rare They are always live. Just running your toes threw the sand carefully you will see so many.... Now the sad news is our sandbar that was there for about 20 years is now gone. We mafe many great memories out there camping, having great holiday gatherings and the yearly 'SAVE THE SAND BAR' fundraisers.
Oh that's so sad that sandbar is gone! Maybe a few good storms will pile the sand back up again. I just looked up Anclote Key and it looks like a super fun place to explore! I communicate with another sheller up in that area and she tells me about all the turbans she finds. One day I'll get up there to see for myself! Thank you so much for watching my video!
Hi Sharmon! I have watched your channel for quite some time and faithfully watch a new episode every Sunday evening. Last week the interview video q&a by beachcombing life popped up on my feed and it's nice to connect a name and a face to your voice. I've been shelling the coast of Maine for over 50 years and will be on Sanibel for a week in mid-December. I've been twice before and love the island. Maybe we'll cross paths on the beach. If I find just one chestnut turban it would make my day! I appreciate all that you share. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Well thank you for coming along on all my beach walks with me! The beachcombing event was so much fun and being able to interact with some of my subscribers live what so great. It's so nice to share a passion with others that enjoy it as much as I do. If you think you see me out on the beach, please stop me and say hi! I hope you also have a wonderful Thanksgiving too!
I've received quite a few guesses (now I really don't feel bad) and it's ranged from oysters to the jewel box clam you're suggesting. If the shells are beat up it definitely makes it harder to figure it out. I've kept it to the side in case one day I can figure it out for sure! Thanks for weighing in!
I think it was a day to look and find textured shells and I am really not surprised that most people did not see them. I think most people look for color only. That is only part of what I have learned watching your shelling videos! Those flats I probably would have thought were broken parts of a scallop at one time. I once found a bonnet and didnt know what it was thank goodness I kept it and and looking through my shells this year found it (again) mixed in with a lot of my other common shells! I think too the parking time limits make you rush along faster than you would like for sure!
It's funny what people consider great shells or keepers can be different from sheller to sheller. I remember the first scotch bonnet I found - all beat up from a storm but I was so excited! I've since replaced it with a few good ones I found over on the East Coast. At this point I almost always keep the strange or mystery shells I find so I can try to figure out what they are and if I should keep them 😅
Yeah, we had a ton of foam up here too... Yes! Thought you were going to miss that turban but you didn't! I will say the first turbans have their whole lip at the opening. A lot of ours are chipped. Beautiful big scallop! You're right about the corrugate jb. Good specimen! You found a bittersweet! Only place I've ever found one was up on the panhandle. Love nutmegs. Was hoping to find some at Lido but didn't. What a gorgeous lace murex! Very cool hinged LIW! A flat!! Never find those here. I don't know what the mystery shell is. Perhaps it's just discolored? Beautiful painted EC! Unless that scallop was rough, it probably was a calico. That was a huge flat at 25:41! Congrats on the speckled tellin! That's another one I've only found in the panhandle. You're correct about the variety of colors on the CTs; however I've never found any here that were reddish or pinkish. I've never found that top snail either. Ok. The mystery shell at 33 min looks like a frond oyster to me. My word! You really don't need to look for chestnut turbans up here any more! Thanks, Sharmon! xxoo
I might not need any chestnut turbans but I sure would like to find some operculums! It was such fun finding new-to-me shells and doing a little bit of research. I thought that cross-hatched lucine was so cool! It was a fabulous day and I can't wait to see what else the winter brings! xoxo
You’re doing a great job. I really enjoy being schooled on the shells. I also appreciate that you showed the map of where you tried to park because I’ve never been to Florida maybe someday thank you keep up the great work your friend Danny
You have definitely helped me with identification! I try to Google shells to ID them, but sometimes it's just not very specific 🤷🏼♀️ I have a couple of those mystery blobs 😆 at first glance I thought they were shells that had kind of barnacle buildup that has calcified ~ let us know if you get a proper ID!
When I first started trying to figure out what shells I was finding it was a real challenge and I got it wrong a bunch of times. Some of these beauties look so much like other shells and it's hard to figure out what is what. After a whole bunch of practice and some help from others I've been able to figure out most of what I find. I love the challenge! Thanks so much for watching!
@@SWFBeachLife That was really odd, looked like half of a green anemone's fossilized mouth ! It could have been buried that suddenly !. But then, I have lots of lmagination, too ! Hee Haw 😂
I have never seen so many varieties of the shells...those turbans are so pretty...and yes I've learned the many names of the shells and how to identify them from you...look forward to this each week...thank you!
Thank you for letting me know Bonnie. I'm glad I'm getting you to the beach and helping you identify the shells as well. I appreciate you coming along with me on my beach walks!
something wonderful about a churning sea and wind....not to mention the bonus of shells. I miss the ability to go down to the surf so I get my fix through you. many thanks
Beautiful shells. I love the coral and the purple scallops. Just wondering what all the other shellers picked up to walk by all those chestnut turbines! Thanks for a windy time with the waves turned up. ❤️
I don't know whether other people didn't see them or want them - but I was psyched I was finding so many shells even with so many other people around! Thank you so much for coming along with me on my beach walk! 🤗
Thank you sweet lady, I find your videos very helpful. Love the way you look at each shell you pick up and show it when you visually examine it. I look forward to your weekly 'show'. Happy shelling.
I love your channel!! I learn so much from it and always enjoy seeing the different types of shells, especially my favorites and bucket list shells I hope to find one day! 🐚💙🌊
You're videos are interesting and fun. The way you describe and show shells has taught me lots. Keep doing what you do. Like to see more Coral if possible.
Those are some great finds! It's so weird how certain storms will just wash ashore a ton of a certain random species. I've seen this happen with buttercup lucines, horse conchs, mussel shells, but never with turbans, especially on Captiva! 19:55 I think is a Red-brown ark. They don't get bigger than that and they are a very rare find actually! Congrats! At 33:18 I think is an eastern oyster. They are a super variable species which can make them tricky to ID. Well done as always!
I was so bummed that the northern lot was closed so I'll have to go there a different day but holy turbans! I've seen angel wings, dosinias and urchins all piled up but those turbans were a nice surprise! Thanks for the red-brown ark ID!!! I'll put that in my special box of goodies. Thanks for taking the time to watch and help me with my mystery shells!
My husband and I have learned so much from watching your videos. We watch them religiously! We are coming down to Ft. Myers in mid December. Maybe we will run into you while we are on our shelling adventures. Can’t wait to see next week’s finds!!!
I just watched this on the smart tv then came to my computer to add a comment. I love love love your videos. I almost feel like I am there with you, I especially love when you list the names so I can get the correct spelling and learn all about the shells. I understand we do not have them all here on the Texas Gulf Coast but I am learning so much. I will probably never get to Florida to go shelling but it is so good for my soul to watch and listen to you.
Just love our weekly beach walks! A couple years ago I was at Tarpon Springs and took a boat tour to Anclote Key Preserve State Park where the chestnut turbans literally just rolled up to my feet one after another. Excited you found so many flats and the hinged calico clam! See you next week!!!
I have picked up thousands shells and I still get really excited when I see a bunch of them or a beautiful shell is just sitting there on the beach. Next week is going to be crazy fun! Hope you have a great week!
Hello beach friend! I have learned so many practical things from you like the names of the shells and how to clean them, but for me the most important thing is that you take us with you when you go shelling! I love the sea and shelling but I don't live near it so I don't have the opportunity to shell frequently. For all those reasons I am very grateful! Keep up your excellent work ❤️👏
I moved here to be close to the beach but I honestly never knew how much I would fall in love with all these shells! I am so lucky to live here and I love sharing all the beautiful things I find while I'm out beachcombing. Thank you for coming along!
Love your beach walks! I’m seeing this one 5 months late but I wanted to mention I appreciate all your comments about the shells. I particularly appreciate when you post on the picture the name of the shell. I can take a screen shot and then save them to an album for reference.
I had shot a "Shell ID" video but I just haven't had time to go see if it's any good and if it's worth editing. I thought that would be super helpful to ID shells and corals and other beach stuff. I'll have to carve out some time to get that finished. I think that would really be a great resource to figure out what shells you have. Thanks so much for watching my videos!
Last year I too found a Cross Hatched Lucine. I just love it. It sits with my favorite shells, so thank you for giving it a name for me. Can’t wait to see what is in your shell bag next week.
I can't wait to find more of them! I wonder if they've always been there and I never noticed or if the beach was so jumbled up I was able to find it. I guess I'm going to find out! Thank you so much for watching!
I agree with Anna Marie. I found so many chestnut turbans on Honeymoon Island I had to stop collecting. I also had to stop collecting the operculums because they were everywhere. I was there in May. I also found long-spined star shells there. I had never seen them before. They are beautiful!
I have yet to find a chestnut turban operculum but I will definitely be going up to Honeymoon Island at some point! And I want to find some of those long-spited star shells too! Note to self - May might be the time to visit Honeymoon Island! Thanks for watching Diane!
Thanks for taking me along again this week. Your videos are the highlight of my week. So excited to be making my first trip to SWF in a week!! You've inspired me to finally do it.
That's amazing! I hope you have the best time here and find lots of goodies! And I hope you'll be able to identify a bunch of them as well. Good shell luck to you! 🌴🌊🐚
The storms help churn things up and it was nice to find some really different shells to add to my collection. Thank you so much for coming along with me!
Found cross hatched lucines in Jamaica March 2024. Thanks for identifying them. They were so beautiful and interesting with the cross-hatching on them.
Amazing!!! Dress warm in the morning and evenings but the afternoons are delightful and it looks like the shells are definitely making their come back!
Yes your tips helped me a lot. I look for shape and color. That’s how I found a scotch bonnet today . I found Crossed hatch lucine before but didn’t know the name. Just learned from you, thank you
That's awesome! I've only found a few scotch bonnets and each one was really special. Now that I've found that cross hatched lucine I'm going to be looking for them a lot more!
Those chestnut turbans are pretty neat. Never seen those before. I guess the storm brought in some good shells. I love learning all the different shells you find. I'm beginning to know most of their names. A pretty good haul there. 🌊🌅🐚
Just discovered your channel and I LOVE watching you shell and beach comb. I live in the PNW so we have very different shells than what you find in Florida. The shell at 33:31 in your video looks like some kind of oyster shell to me. We have lots of oysters here so it looked familiar. But I am no expert so it's just a guess. Thanks for taking me a long on your shelling adventures as I don't get to beachcomb much here anymore.
Welcome aboard! I have the best time combing the beaches down here to see what I'll find. I have learned so much about the beach and it's creatures and I love sharing everything I'm experiencing and learning along the way. Thank you for coming along with me!
Thank you for all your interesting videos you give us. Now I live in Germany, but hope to move this year to States to my husband to be, so I can look for all this beautiful shells. If you come ones to Europa, you should look on the Northsee, Bulgaria, Lanzarote, Australia too have amazing and few big amazing shells..🙏🥰❤👍
I dream of traveling the world, seeing beautiful beaches and looking for different beach treasures. Australia and the Philippines are on the top of my list! I hope you are able to move to the states and perhaps visit this beautiful area of our country. Thank you so much for watching from all the way across the globe!
Was missing the beach today and found a video I haven't watched, amazingly!!!! 😂😂. We are under heat advisory in Louisiana so would rather be safe. You have no idea how much you help myself and I'm sure everyone else. I can look in my books and still not know but watch a video and then I know. So I thank you and want you to know you are appreciated.
Thank you so much Wendy! I'm glad you are staying safe from this weather and perhaps learning a thing or two about the beach. I hope you're able to return soon!
So many videos to make and so little time! I would like to do a shell ID video - I just need to find the time. One of these days I'll get to it! In the meantime, thank you for coming along with me!
Thank you again for a wonderful video! Can’t believe all the chestnut turbans you found! One shelling day this summer, there were sunray venus clams and giant cockles everywhere!! I’m not kidding, there were hundreds, strange how that happens
It is strange how there will be one particular species all over the place. I'll never forget the angel wings I found after a storm up here. I think it was over 70 of them. Crazy!
I grew up at the Jersey Shore. My favorite things to collect were poor man’s coral (shells full of worm holes), razor clams, horseshoe crab tails and scallops with a worm hole to string on necklaces. I still have most of them in jars. 🥰
That's more than I ever found! All I ever got were quahogs and one year there were moonsnail like shells, but I didn't save any and I now have no clue what they were. I was just excited to see something different! The beaches down here are amazing!!!
Your tips are really helpful! I like when you incorporate educational material in your videos. I also agree that your videos are the best. I've tried to watch some other shelling videos, but I wind up turning them off after a few minutes because they aren't nearly as good as your videos. Hope you find another giant horse conch soon!!
I hope I find another horse conch soon too! That was so fun and I'm always on the lookout. I won't be snorkeling anytime soon (too cold!) but who knows what this winter will bring! 🐚
Lovers Key has free beach wheelchairs for use at their park! ruclips.net/video/39TKDgO5xEQ/видео.html
One of the things I really like about FMB and Lovers Key is the hard packed sand.
Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a comment and walk my Sunday beach walks! 🌴🌊🐚
I love when you show a mass of shells on the beach and help us point out the one you’re interested in. That helps me a lot.
You have helped me a lot in identifying shells! Plus all the sea life!!
Stay safe x
Girl do you sleep? I so appreciate your support and thank you as always for watching my little beach walks!
My husband and I watch you weekly! We live in a land locked state but love the beach. Thanks so much for your weekly beach adventures!
You are so welcome! Thank you for coming along with me!
What an amazing array of different shells! I appreciate how you tell us what your finding and when you find a rare one. The coral is really cool too. Thanks again for a great walk on the beach!
You are so very welcome! Thank you for coming along with me!
I have only had the time to make a shell mirror: ruclips.net/video/Mf5SVm8m5n8/видео.html
But I'm in the process of making a sea shell picture frame. I just need to shoot the final touches but that will be coming soon!
Go you!!! What great finds!! Thanks again for letting us enjoy your shelling adventures!
I have learned so much from you. Thank you. I didn't know half what names of shells are until I watched you.
You are so very welcome! Thank you for taking the time to come on my beach walk with me!
Thank u for the id info, it is very useful
You have been sooo helpful so I can identify my shells. Thank you so much and just love your adventures. 😊
Thank you so much for letting me know! And thank you for coming along with me!
It never gets old..love the walk on the beach today!
Oh My..a Wonderful day ! Can't wait to return ! Loved the Beach Walk !!
The negative low tides are here! Hope you have a great week!
What a beautiful day to walk on the beach. Love all the chestnuts that you found each one is so different. Great video ❤️
Thank you 🤗 I never knew those chestnut turbans could come in so many different colors.
Love your videos! You do a great job of describing the shells. Like to see the live creatures when you’re able to be in the water.
It’s obvious you’re having a good time which makes your videos even more fun to watch. Thank you! ❤️😀
You are so very welcome! I appreciate you taking the time to leave me a comment and watch my beach walks!
the lace murex and the hinged calico clam are beautiful.
I absolutely love your videos! I wish I could come down there more than once a year, but you've taught me so much! Really appreciate it! 🙋💜
Thank you so much! I'm happy to share all the fun things I find on all these amazing beaches! 🤗
Loved our beach walk today. Very interesting what a storm brings up. Thanks again.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Yea same I have learned sooooo much
Loved your super haul of chestnut turbins. And your unusual ones. Thanks so much
I have really enjoyed watching your shelling adventures. I’m new to shelling and you’ve been a font of information about them. Thank you so very much for sharing!
You are so very welcome. I hope to help you learn about your shells and what beaches are great for shelling! 🌴🌊🐚
This was SO MUCH FUN Sharmon! What a haul! As always your videos are excellently done, informative, and extremely helpful! TFS! Have a great week!
I hope you have a great week too Donna! ❤️
Because of you, I have learned the names of so many shells! You are the best shelling RUclips channel!!
Aww - thank you so much for coming along with me! It's truly my pleasure to share these beautiful beaches!
Your videos are great for even the seasoned sheller. You're keeping our eyes sharp! I've learned SO much about the correct names of shells & sea critters from watching your videos, too.
I can't tell you how many times you've named a shell & I'm like, "So, that's what I found in Myrtle Beach!"
We don't find shells nearly as beautiful or as plentiful as what's on your beaches.
As always - love shelling with you when I can’t! How about a video on what you do with shells. Crafts… displaying them…
Your timing is impeccable!
You are so very welcome! I hope when you do go to the beach you find everything you're looking for!
Hi my beach friend,
That rough sea with the seafoam is how the North Sea in the Netherlands looks most of the time, including the wind. 😁
Unfortunately we don't have those amazing shells, just some simple clams.
You did great in the Chestnut Turbin department! And all the "new" species you've never found before. What a great haul you had that morning at the beach. 😍
You really start to wonder what all the other people on the beach were looking for, since you've found so many amazing shells.
Big hug and lots of love, xoxo ❤, Ilona
Hello beach friend! I am VERY impressed with your shell research! I think the shell is a red-brown ark (someone else identified it) and it is indeed in the Barbatia family - I believe it's a Barbatia domingensis! It's a little tough to figure out the exact shell but if you can figure out the "family" it's in, it's a little easier. I was coming up with nothing!
I hope all the news you have been getting is good news and I hope you have a wonderful week. ❤️❤️❤️
I love learning the names for the shells. And, I really appreciate the "Beach Time".
What a great beach walk for you !! I so enjoy your videos, you are always so informative on shell identification, where and how to find them. Thanks for taking us along.
You are so welcome! Thanks for taking the time to watch and come along! 🐚❤️
I walk on the treadmill every morning watching you find treasures and the time flies by....thankyou for all of your videos...hello from CA!
Hello CA! That's fantastic you're getting your exercise in while you're shelling with me! 😅 Thank you so much for coming along!
Spending time with you on the beach is my peace of mind.
❤️
At time 27:40 the big lump of a shell may be in the family Chamidae - Jewel Box clams. I have found many on the beaches of Sonora Mexico.
My favorite so far. I'm absolutely loving your videos. The info is so helpful. My husband and I are inspired to take a Florida beach hopping trip.
We've got some pretty awesome beaches down here! I hope you do get to come and experience Florida for yourself!
It was a fabulous day and I can't wait to see what else the winter brings! xoxo
@@SWFBeachLife Absolutely!
You are so awesome to listen to. I’m learning all about the shells and their names.
Thank you for saying so and thank you for taking the time to come on my beach walks with me!
You’re doing a great job. I really enjoy being schooled on the shells. I also appreciate that you showed the map of where you tried to park because I’ve never been to Florida maybe someday thank you keep up the great work your friend Danny
Thanks Danny! I hope you do make it here one day to find some beachy goodness for yourself! 🐚
Alex (age 6!), thinks that mysterious “clump” is actually a prickly cochle with oyster shell on top! 😊
If I remember the shell correctly, I have since discovered it's an Atlantic white hoof snail!
I didn’t know any names of shells until I watched you. Thanks. Love your channel
something wonderful about a churning sea and wind....not to mention the bonus of shells. I miss the ability to go down to the surf so I get my fix through you. many thanks
I'll give you a new fix every Sunday! Thank you so much for coming along with me!
Thank you so much! I appreciate you taking the time to leave such a lovely comment! 🤗
I love your channel!! I learn so much from it and always enjoy seeing the different types of shells, especially my favorites and bucket list shells I hope to find one day! 🐚💙🌊
I hope you do find those bucket list shells one day too! Thank yo so much for coming along with me on this windy beach walk!
You're videos are interesting and fun. The way you describe and show shells has taught me lots. Keep doing what you do. Like to see more Coral if possible.
Thanks so much! I wish I had more control over what I'm going to find!
Well if you think you see me out on the beach, please stop me and say hi! And I hope you find tons of great goodies while you're here! 🌴🌊🐚
Your channel has taught me so much! Definitely keep teaching!
Thank you! Will do!
And on the upside if you ever do make it here you'll know all your shells! Thanks so much for coming along with me on my beach walk!
I live the Beach Time segment! Great learning vid!
Awesome! Thank you!
@@SWFBeachLife I will really look forward to that! 😊
Thanks for info on neutralizing and disposing your old muriatic acid. Great help!
I cant wait for Sunday to come to watch your videos. Really cant say what I would want you to look for. Oh my so cool, all your shells today.
The storms help churn things up and it was nice to find some really different shells to add to my collection. Thank you so much for coming along with me!
Found cross hatched lucines in Jamaica March 2024. Thanks for identifying them. They were so beautiful and interesting with the cross-hatching on them.
I am leaving for Sanibel/Captiva on Wednesday, because of your channel. I am so excited to come and shell!
@@SWFBeachLife awesome , waiting for more videos
Very cool time at Captiva!! Only thing is I wanna watch next week’s now 🤗
Next week is going to be super-shell fun! Hope you have a good week!
The kitten paws are so adorable.
I love when those "mystery shells" wash up!
Me too! It drives me a little batty not knowing what they are, but I'm lucky to have a bunch of other smart shellers giving me pointers!
Those chestnut turbans are pretty neat. Never seen those before. I guess the storm brought in some good shells. I love learning all the different shells you find. I'm beginning to know most of their names. A pretty good haul there. 🌊🌅🐚
Well at least you'll know a chestnut turban if you ever find one 😅 Thank you so much for coming along with me on my beach walk!
Thank you, that was lovely and relaxing. So many Chestnut Turbans, fascinating what you find on the beach after a storm x
Thank you for this wonderful video, I love the new shells I actually took a couple of screenshots at the end. In town next week have a good week.🐚🐚🐚
I hope you find all the shells you're looking for when you're here! 🐚
Yes, you are and have been so informative 👏 I love your videos and the info. 😊
Thank you so much!
Have been watching you a lot lately! Love ur facts and tid bits please more like this! Even a video going over different types!
So many videos to make and so little time! I would like to do a shell ID video - I just need to find the time. One of these days I'll get to it! In the meantime, thank you for coming along with me!
I'm loving the nutmegs and chestnut turbins. you had some really great finds this week. Can't wait til next week!!!
I can't wait to share next week either! It was so much fun and I found so many fabulous goodies!
Just found you videos recently, and I'm so disappointed... THAT I'M NOT ON THE BEACH! Thanks I've been learning the real names.
You ALMOST got me 😅 Thank you so much for watching and coming along with me (at least virtually) to the beach!
Crazy!
I didn't know the names of different shells. New to your channel. Thank you for taking us along.
Awesome. I would have gone nuts with the kitten paws and everything else too.
Very very helpful! And so relaxing!
What a beautiful collection of shells!
Thank you!
Love watching your videos, I have learned so much. 15 more Sunday beach walks and I will be there!
Yay! I hope you find all the goodies you're looking for when you come!
