  • In this video, we explain what First Principles are and how they affect all of society.
Aristotle describes First Principles as "Known by Nature." When we align our understanding with how the world actually operates, we are closer to First Principles and increase our potential. The growth of Societies and Individuals is highly dependent on acceptance of Correct Principles. First Principles are the foundation of Correct Principles & can also be one and the same.

i thought the same but i guess it is because you can go on to say, 'what are humans?' and 'what is age?' which means it is not a 1st principle because you have to reason up from a 1st principle and not down....? I guess

An example of a first principle in logic would be the law of non-contradiction: (A) and (not A) cannot both be true at the same time and in the same sense.
This is undeniably true, but you can’t deduce it from any observation.

If I heard you right, you said that truth is science. Can you prove that proposition by the scientific method? No, the proposition that the only certain truth is scientific truth, is self-defeating. The law of non contradiction is true. It cannot be false.

Its close but natural mind only uses since and modern living doesn't grasp Imagination being creative not science that come afterward. Ecclesiastes 3:15: “That which is, already has been; that which is to be, already has been; and God seeks what has been driven away.” The “natural man” cannot grasp that, for to him reality is based only on the evidence of the senses. The man of reason could justify the verse’s end, saying if it has any meaning then the writer must mean recurrence. The sun comes every day and the moon completes its cycle and the seasons come and go. If we took a picture of the universe today, the scientists can compute how long it will take to return to this point in the picture. So the intellectual man could justify the verse; but that is not what is meant, for it is addressed not to the man of reason or the man of sense, but to the man of Imagination. What is it all about? “That which is, already has been; that which is to be, already has been, and God seeks what has been driven away.”

"If everyone just disappeared then the fundamental forces such as gravity don't just cease to exist"
How do you know this? Our current understanding of gravity comes from testing in the sandbox that our, and others', perceptions allow. How do you know what there is when perception and experience are removed? How can you ever know "true first principles"?

Polynani a great physicist, says science is not objective. The scientist uses intuition, makes value judgements in the process and most clearly, she is part of the process. A subjective, human does science. If value judgements, are just personal opinions, relative to the individual or for some her culture. Then, why do things matter to people. Why are rational humans, including brilliant scientists, found upset if someone cuts in front of them in line. Why do issues, that are mere value judgements, opinions, like the guy who takes the last piece of cake without apology, concern us. So, he values his pleasure over the others at the table. Why do people then act as if there is some rule, some rule known by all that says, "Ask first, jerko."

  • @ahmedbebackup9944

You've made a grave mistake by making science the first principle. Science is not the first principle science is a product of first principles. Therefore, it works within the limits of first principles and can never supersede them.

Now, great video, first of all. But keep in mind, that "The laws of nature are permanent", is an assumption in of itself. Just because we have never witnessed anything otherwise, doesn't mean it will always hold true. Although, I can't imagine how the world could exist without permanent rules, but then again, who am I?

With all do respect, I totally disagree with the second part of this video. The argument that we knew nothing and because of science (provisional) we found the right path and we have been on the road to glory ever since is at best insufficient and ineffective, and at worst totally bankrupt. Why else would we tear through our planet like a confused frustrated bull in a china shop? Destroy everything in our vicinity for a moment of peace and sense of being in control which never comes. What is the source of all this restlessness in human race? Could it be false teachings of science or religions or cultures ? Social systems? Why do we think because we have always been the loudest people on the planet we are saying the right things? Why do we think the purpose of human race is all these materialistic advancement we are so proud of? To what price? destroying a planet with over billion years of biological history in 500 years of science and civilization. "This place was a paradise before you monkeys showe up" the mushroom to Terrence Mckenna.
Thanks for teaching first principles thinking and reasoning but these should be used to critic and reject some of old ideas fed to us by science, culture and society as facts. Science has a convergence issue. To find closed exact solutions, scientists need to make assumptions which simplfies the reality. Some of these solutions developed by old monkeys are wrong but unfortunately been used as facts for years to create a false baseline completely detached from the experiences of individuals and personal creativity.
We need to use these principles to find out when and why we lost our way.
Apologies for bad spelling and messy punctuation. 🙏

Anyone who does not know the Creator of the universe, Jesus , is Truth Less and Lost.
Objective Truth is not science.....it's God.
Scientific 'theories' change as time goes on......Objective Truth on the other hand cannot change. Without Jesus you will never see nor enter heaven.

This video based its roots in the Ancient Greek way of thinking about things. That stuff is either true or false. But that isn't how things work in real life and especially in science. So the point is invalid mostly.
Plus, humanity does not have yet all answers and some things just cannot be proven or unproven. On such matters, anyone's guess is as best as anyone's. (For example the gravity thing. As far as we know, we could be just living in a simulation or maybe the world doesn't function as we know it unless there's someone to experience it (many ways of seeing this))
