With the 235/75/16 you gained 1/2 inch more height. They are equivalent to about 30" and not 29" with the 235/70/16. And if you put the 235/75 with the factory 15" wheels you gained more separation between the ground and the wheel, since the higher the tire height, the greater the protection of the Wheel from stones and branches.
