- In this video, I go over the pros and cons of working at Schneider. I also talk about the much needed vacation from Schneider bulk. The fact that it takes 6 months to only get 24 hours of paid leave, inspired me to make this video.

9 months and just taking PTO! Salute to the dedication of being out there, I try to utilize all my PTO throughout the year but going that long without using one is commendable! Enjoy the time off
@@TayTheLocalTrucker haha it went by too fast 😖
@@Tay.juhWoods As always 😂
You needed that vacation you deserve it I am at Swift Transportation and I'm going to take me a vacation after the kids go back to school
@@chrisreed3227 that’s awesome. Be safe out there
Another great video Tajae'. I don't use a headset. I use Bluetooth through the stereo. Works great. Keep your head up and be safe out there.
@@kenhollis9591 thank you, Ken.
2016-17 did 18months you can live comfortable at the Big Orange if you live within your means and not have all of the toys sitting in your driveway Amenities at most of the terminals are great pay will always be low because it's a training company
@@Donald-jm4hi true that
I wish you continued success even though you are fairly new channel you've given out more real world information about this company in these past few months than anyone has done for years.
If you have a driver referral code you might want to start to leave it in your videos or your description for those that have taken in your information and still want to give the company a try based on the info you have given out.
Haha. Thank you. I should look into referrals. 🤔🤔🤔
@@Tay.juhWoods it's not like you're advertising or telling people to come to the company. all you're doing is giving your honest fair assessment based on your experiences. It's a mega carrier new CDL drivers are going to come there anyway, so if they still want to come there even after your assessment you might as well get a commission.
You definitely should leave and take a chance with another company because this don’t make any sense. It’s like they treating you like you a sap driver or part of the 2nd chance crew. 6 months is good enough to roll with another company apply if one bites cool if not keep applying if you haven’t already
Wow nice wish swift gave pto been here almost two years and not one day of pto we don't get that here if you dont work you dont get paid 😢
That’s asinine
Thanks!
@@chrisreed3227 appreciate the super chat 😁
I know I'm a little cheap LOL
@@chrisreed3227 any amount is appreciated
I knew about the holiday pay rule but getting pto before that year mark is new to me. Unless I misheard you
@@bdking97 yes they just revised it recently. Still ain’t enough
@@Tay.juhWoods oh I’m about to take advantage of that real soon then😂
Peace! I've recently been in contact with recruiters to join the bulk division at Schneider. Came across your Ecolab account video. I live in Virginia about 2 hours away from the Martinsburg location. Aside from the account being home weekly, have you seen instances where people get home a few times a week? (given that I'm 2 hours away from Martinsburg WV)
@@gregorybyrd7838 yes, I get home multiple times a week. However, I live in PA and there’s an operating center in Carlise, PA. But since you live in VA, they’ll make you commute in your personal vehicle. You can possibly park at the Winchester drop yard, but they don’t allow you to take your truck home
@@Tay.juhWoods Solid! Thanks for the feedback.
Holiday pay is just $100 for that day
@@jrtee1779 better than nothing at all
Im thinking about coming to Schneider just so I can be regional I always hear the pay sucks tho im getting 57cpm from what I hear they lowball rookies

Do you know if the OTR tanker drivers make more?
@@deeperthought7032 no. You make more on a dedicated account

@@DirtyBroke215 lol exactly. 😂😂😂
3 days is vacation?🤔 and as far as the pay i would say its schneider fault and just and industry thing because schneider can up the pay so when it flucuates it still makes sense on the pay check but trucking in general is up and down so if our companies dont back us than we wont get shxt . Idk how guys worked there for 20-30yrs. Everything u mentioning is mostly all starter companies . All your pros and cons is the same as all the other ones🤷🏾♂️
lol 3 days is paid. I can take as long as I want. But I just won’t get paid. Honestly, I don’t get how people work at Schneider for 20 years either. This is the longest year of my life
I worked for Swift and trust me they took care of their equipment
@@charlesjr916 lol it’s all jokes 😂😂😂

Why did you leave and do you recommend them?
@@JayGivensJrwhy did you leave and do you recommend them?
@@ashtonfrett2536 I couldn’t pass up on the job offer with QC
How much do they pay us for those 24 hours. Is it the usual $10 to $12 an hour they pay us? Im using my 3 pto days soon.
I think so because my pay was crap. Only $773 take home.
Thank you for your honest transparent feedback of the company.
Of course. ✌🏽
Good for you I'm glad to hear it you deserve it you're such a hard worker
@@josephfontenot2866 thanks Joe. Nice to hear from you. Been looking for you at Carlise lol. 😂
Love your videos, you really break everything down well. What are the best trucking companies for first time drivers, top 3 if you for mind? Again, thanks for all you do.
Hey, i love what you. Am looking for a job in trucking. Anyone to link me up with a company hiring i will appreciate it🙏
Another con is that they promote "guaranteed weekly pay," but don't clearly specify that you need to work 45 hours a week to get that pay. Even so, (otr. dedicated may vary?) they don't guarantee 45 hours a week will be assigned. Two months in, no "guaranteed weekly pay" received yet. Bait and switch? I feel that it is so. Where is the so-called guarantee?
@@MrPhattybee yeah I feel like they secretly plot so you never get it
@@Tay.juhWoods I very much suspect the same. Like, oh we guarantee it!*
* if we give you the hours (which we won't)
Would rather not be a slave at all yet if I have to choose I'd be a slave to the truck rather than a slave to the company I'm working for, if they say yor going to the boroughs or some other not so great place, well you have to go or quit, I don't believe for a second these companies care about drivers safety other than their CSA score. Also I've met drivers who signed on to a company who paid for their CDL school and became a slave that way because some quit after a few months and then the company waived the contract they signed to pay for schooling and they didn't pay other than on their credit score which put them in a financial mess. I paid for my own school and tell people to do the same and say be careful with these companies who promise stuff. You might make more or as much working two 32 hour a week jobs and have benefits if benefits turn your world without all the rules and regulations in the name of safety of course. There was only DOT when I started, no fmcsa, csa and the jj keller rules and regulations book everyone gets was 1/4 the thickness it is now, all in the name of safety of course and if you question their logic of safety then they say your not being safe because you questioned us.
dang man it's tough out here for a rookie trucker, seems like work starts getting better after that 1 year mark!
@@AdrianRomeroJr yup. Looking forward to it
@@Tay.juhWoods same here lol!
There is someone that looks like you her name is Kiki she do videos too
@@chrisreed3227 hmmmm. Interesting 🧐
Over a year at J.B. Hunt and equipment is very well taken care of. We also accrue pto from day one. Roadside service is pretty quick when needed.
@@jcleer1 lol that’s great! It’s all jokes 😂😂😂. Does the PTO reset every year? Or can you stack up the PTO over time?
Are you expected to wear a long sleeved shirt, vest, and long pants year round?
@@MicahGroover if you’re at a Schneider bulk facility, shippers, and receivers, yes it’s required. But if you’re driving, wear whatever you want
@Tay.juhWoods shoo that could get bad. I'm a "hot blooded" type. High metabolism I guess. I would die in the summer. Pants okay, but that would be tough in Mississippi or Louisiana.
@@MicahGroover yeah it sucks. Like what if I’m delivering in Phoenix, Arizona 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
You would hate wearing a chemical suit.
@williamslover9040 I have had to... I quit about two weeks later. Not for me. Not made for it. Could not handle it lol.
So far as breakdowns...not many. But that check engine light😂..wild. i had one truck, i went through 3, that the engine light came on every week for something different. Asked for a new one, i was under a dedicated acct at the time, they gave me one. almost brand new, only 60k on the dash.
My otr experience with them, my pay didn't fluctuate a lot but it did have a little fluctuation. Now under the dedicated acct, such as yourself, my take home would be anywhere from $700-$1500. So i feel you on that. And mainly it was because they pay by the load now. They used to pay from looking at your mileage from your logs and just adding that up through the week. So my fluctuation would come from the fact that we got sent home with loads over the weekend, that we wouldn't complete until the next pay period.
@@Crooze88 gotcha. Which dedicated account are you on?
@Tay.juhWoods I was on the ollies account, schneider lost the bid for it this year back in February. I did about 3 weeks in otr after that and dipped. I was getting less cpm than I was my first day out of training. I've been researching whether I want to do ltl or tanker. Definitely leaning more towards tanker and that's how I found your videos.
@@Crooze88 gotcha. Glad I’m able help

@@Lee85G hello 😊👍🏽
Their no different than jb hunt form what your saying
@@mdcutter2011 lol interesting. But JB Hunt has minimum pay on some of their accounts
I worked for JB Hunt and I agree to the comment. If you can live within your means and enjoy the cozy life. You’ll be good here. In my opinion, if you’re a new driver you should apply for Schneider due to their training. I would say get 6 months experience then look for higher pay somewhere else. 👍🏾
I currently work at Dominos as a CDL driver and it’s good for me 👍🏾
@@Tay.juhWoods facts the pay sucks unless your hauling reefer loads and still isn't worth it
