Your Bank now still honour the Direct Debit even if your card is cancelled, this happened to me with a second account I had so nothing I could do.
Since then, I found a little trick, it works every Black Friday time, sign up as a student and just make up the credentials, excepts every time with no checks, you dont need a college/university email, I just make a new quick email address each time with whoever. I pay £13 a month and have been doing it the last 3 years.

I still have a thick CD case full of Adobe products, but I can't use it anymore because Adobe retroactively decided not to honor those licenses anymore. It was all to shove people onto their subscription plans. At that point I don't think Adobe has much right to set their prices when they can't even honor or provide perpetual licenses. As a professor, several years ago before these complaints added up, I took on the adobe cloud subscription at a reduced instructor price. However over time, the price started going up, so I called to cancel. That was when I discovered it was an annual fee. Furthermore, discussing this with customer service, they told me that if I canceled, I still had to pay immediately for the entire rest of the year, but that I would also immediately lose access. I asked can’t I call you now to inform you that I want to cancel when my annual time is up? To which I was told, no I have to call during the last month. So let me get this straight - I can cancel right now and immediately lose access, but I still have to pay up for the rest of the year, is that correct? Customer service agent told me that it was correct. I wasn’t sure just what my rights would be and so, I paid off the year and canceled? I have been sharing my displeasure with Adobe ever since. I am now the happy user of a paid for Davinci Resolve.

When Adobe sold Photoshop, they would charge US customers about $700 but Australians about $1200. This was not caused by differences in the exchange rate. This was the downloaded product, there were no freight charges. We would call it the Australia Tax. Once the Australian dollar was equal to the US dollar and Adobe still charged about 40% more.
Microsoft and Apple and others did the same thing.
The Australian Senate called them into a hearing but they basically said they charge Australians more because they can. They made vague references to “The Cost of Doing Business in Australia” but they couldn’t explain this to the Senate.
The problem soon went away because of the subscription model, at the time, it was easier to cancel and I could use Photoshop for six months or so.

I used Photoshop in an introductory graphic design class (didn’t continue with it since I didn’t have a knack for it) and thought it was great!
A bit later, I saw they made their software subscription based… and it really just felt scummy. I may have bought the software to play around before, but now that it was a subscription, I definitely wasn’t going to.
Fast forward to a few years ago, my wife was using it for a class and she got one of the software via the subscription… but didn’t really like it so when she tried to cancel, it basically gave her that option of “now pay the rest in full” so she has just been holding onto the subscription because she doesn’t want to cancel and be hit with a huge fee. So it’s basically a “junk subscription”. Definitely scummy move and they’re getting their just desserts.

It’s the government that props up IP laws and prosecutorial litigation in the first place, fostering the current legal environment. Adobe claims control over an IP in the idea itself thanks to government support through government court and legislation. Thus the shift in Adobe’s business model from a standalone license for purchase to a leasing model for a virtually non-scarce digital product. This same referee in the political sphere is now being called on by the public to judge a matter that it largely had a hand in creating in the first place. The best the referee is doing here is telling Adobe that their TOS is too obtuse for those who would want to cancel their service, which is just superficial criticism. Rather, this just puts up a show more or less for the public at large. The better thing to do would be to opt for other developers’ softwares that can satisfy a one time purchase standard, since that’s more so proactive rather than only being reactive. Political decision making whether it’s for better or for worse always lags behind people’s everyday activity in the real world.

I'm just finishing a 3D artist course that was 2 years long. I bought a permanent license of Adobe Substance painter 2022 on steam when the course begun. My classmates deemed my choice "unnecessary" as there's the student edition they could use for free.
    2 years later:
    - Adobe demands you a legit credit card for you to activate student license so that they can charge you automatically once the student license is over.
    - On steam they doubled the price for virtually the same program (reviews are mixed because people say they bought new version at twice the cost for literally no additional value).
    - I'm not sure about this as I did not check, but one of my classmates told me they will face cancellation fees *even if they do not intend to turn the student license into a normal one.*
All on top of Adobe unilaterally deciding they can do whatever they want with your files and train any AI they want with it. No, stop saying "they said they won't." They will. Few months from now they will "alter the deal further" and will allow themselves to train their AI with all acquired data at your expense. How you people still trust this company is beyond me.

What they didn’t tell purchasers of the font software is that it was limited so that fonts created by the software would never look as good as fonts created by Adobe. Their shitty practices back then lead to the creation of a whole new family by standard that we use today. They have always treated their customers like garbage. My first experience with them was in buying a software suite that showed up with two licenses for one software and one missing for another. The representative in the phone tried to convince me that I had pride nearly $1000 for a package that included a demo version. I was a die-hard Illustrator fan, and I was also a HUGE Fireworks (Flash too) user back in the Macromedia days as my career advanced into UI design. Thus begins my ascent into the land of hating Adobe. They started buying up competitors and killing their products. They killed Fireworks with no replacement in sight. Their solution was mutating Photoshop into this franken-vector thing. I've switched over to Figma, and when I heard that Adobe was attempting to absorb Figma my soul wept. Thankfully they were unable to sink their claws into Figma. I've switched over to Affinity for vector and raster editing, as they offer a one-time price. I just wish Adobe would remember its roots, and get back to the days when it did things for its users, instead of despite its users.

There is no way I would even consider buying the software so long as they are only offering subscriptions as opposed to being able to
purchase the yearly release on its own. Not only that but how they install their "creative cloud" bullsh*t on your computer which you
can't remove even if you only have one of their programs because they want to conveniently "offer" you all their other programs.

I quit Premier and After Effects for Davinci Resolve Studio with a one time price of less than $300, and I am still using the last paid version of Photoshop CS6. Monthly fees are a total scam IMO.

The usual European Adobe office is like one floor of sales representatives and one floor of lawyers.

7:30 Adobe has become the Quark I remember towards the end of Quark's rein. In the end, Quark's disdain for its own customers was palpable.

This has been going on for years now, look how pathetically slow our government is. It's our tax money being spent on this also.
