Honestly, I have a feeling Michigan is gonna be even more dangerous this year! Sherrone is the chosen successor of the Harbaugh Era and coached the UNDEFEATED Wolverines in 6 of their biggest games! The Harbaugh tradition is intact, and Coach Moore will just add his own touch to it. I think Michigan can definitely run it back!

What made JJ special that had last year's team undefeated was his ability to make the throws on 3rd down and long and 3rd down in general which kept the chains moving and kept the defense off the field. Thats the one thing im concerned about with orji or anyone else on the roster.

If he can have 2021 Cade McNamara-like numbers passing, 2500ish pass yds, 64% comp, 15 pass td, he’ll be golden because unlike Cade he’s a threat to run as well and can I think very easily put up at least 700-800 yds rushing as well with at least 10 rush TDs.

I’m very curious to hear your thoughts for how Ryan day has elevated the OSU program. They have regressed in every metric of competition. They loose the big ten, they have missed or lost in the playoffs, lost physicality, lost coaches to their rival, etc. in which way has Ryan day improved the program!?!? They lost a bowl game to Missouri….. their lucky Urban didn’t have a stroke watching that.

Ohio State always gets all the hype. They have competitive tradition, great recruiting, and they have post-season experience. However, Michigan has lost to them enough times to know what it takes to beat them!
I'm sorry, but I feel like Michigan has such an awesome THINK TANK, that they will iron out all of the wrinkles and they are gonna be scary this year! That game against Texas is gonna determine the season. Worst case scenario (for the Buckeyes) is we face them (in the Shoe) undefeated! 😁

I think you, along with many Michigan fans, severely underestimate the direct/indirect value and overall importance a threatening and competent pass game provides for an offense. There is, as it currently stands, virtually no reason to believe Orji will be even competent through the air, and the WR room is thin and largely inexperienced. You could reasonably predict our pass game is going to be anywhere from horrific to below average. When you also consider that our line, although promising, is unproven, and our #1 RB has yet to really show that he can be consistently effective within the trenches... I'm very wary of inefficient play on the offensive side. Being one-dimentional and run-heavy as an offense may be effective circumstantially (a la PSU last year), but I think it's problematic when used as an offensive identity (which I imagine, based on the personnel, will be Sherrone Moore's plan).
If I'm being honest, I can definitely see a scenario where Orji starts, and they try out this run-heavy, scramble QB offense. Then, Texas comes into the Big House, the offensive scheme fails, and Orji gets exposed, which leads to a QB change.
Our defense will likely be very good, though. So, the makeup of this team leads me to believe there will be many close games, and our record could be anywhere from 8-4 to 10-2.

    • @TheJetstream10
      @TheJetstream10 2 месяца назад

I can see this too. But so what, with the 12 team playoffs, as long as Michigan gets into the playoffs it's a different season. This is what people are not considering. The new playoffs is really a tournament---win your games get to the finals is what it is all about and that takes a different attitude and strategy, The lowest ranked team in the playoffs could win it with a great run and peaking at the right time. So, Michigan can make a run for glory if it goes 10-2.

    - highly agree with S&C. It’s very good at preventing injury as seen pat few years
    - not sure about “elite DB depth”. There is only 1 elite DB we know of in Will. Outside of that it vets, and young guys who were seen as elite in recruiting.
    - hard to say today that the OL will be elite. 2 guys have never started, Hinton got benched last year, but El Hadi and Josh P are DAMN good.
    - Wink has been let’s go twice in a row. That’s not elite
    - Might have the best LB do in the conference. That ceiling is HIGH

Here is the lynchpin scenario for Michigan... and and I am so glad Sherrone Moore is the HC, I am very confident there is no obstruction to his vision now, he had to answer to Jim when he was there, now he doesn't have to answer to Jim - he can run the scheme the way he knows how to bring the attack.
People forget, no one had confidence that Michigan could do anything - Michigan adopted the rpo, they had a bevy of QBs, only half of them could actually execute it, because of tenure, JJ McCarthy won the battle Cade got injured.
Folks... we have to remember, the system was not Jim's - his sister wasn't working, it was Sherrone Moore that finally got put in the position to execute his vision for the offense.
Sharon Moore said we will beat him in the trenches, Jim is the kind of guy that agreed because he likes to duke it out. Grounding pound will be the key for Michigan, it won't matter who they face on the field, has got to be Michigan's ability to run the ball with the quarterback - and I'm telling you folks you are underestimating Alex Orji's ability to rush the ball - we've seen it a little bit...
If Michigan can actually stick to RPO recipe of using the pass as the option, instead of the run is the option, Michigan will be a force to be contented with and Washington is going to have to shake off the reliving of that pounding they got last year.
Because 90% of the defenses returning, Michigan's offense has the ability to do more aggressively what it couldn't with JJ McCarthy, bacon dial up far more aggressive and deceptive plays with an athlete as QB, then they could with a QB that was only mobile.
Somebody has got to step up to be the power back, running out of the slot - I think that ultimately is going to be Donovan Edwards.
Kaliel Mullins and Tavierre Dunlap will battle it out between FB and TB... Michigan will have the ability to ground impound, Khalil Mullins was sick last year.
Glad you noted Sherrone Moore add sole control and authority over the offensive line, as head coach we are going to see more trickeration and straight up power in the trenches from the office.
Michigan with potential, has the ability to run the gamut again... Realistically, Michigan schedule wise I believe will probably pull off a 10 - 2, 11 - 1 that is realistically season - they have the ability to win the conference championship again.
They have the ability to tap Washington's ass again, the fun will be humbling Oregon.
The key for Michigan in the run, is run protection scheme, creating elusive but strong run blocking so the assigned running back for that play can get enough traction to make chunk plays.
I think the hire of Wink Martindale was smart, because if you remember, there were no elite defensive coordinators available or even on the table, so to be able to have a discussion with who could keep your defense in place was actually a blessing in disguise.
I think Lamar Moore is going to add more than you think so, we've got a younger mindset that wants to dig, when
Jesse Minter what's DC, he was a young coordinator, but his line coaches were older, now it flipped - these kids are going to get juiced.
Michigan is going to have a season that disappoints the haters.... again.
Sherrone Moore was decided in being such a strong candidate, Harbaugh had Moore's ascension to HC in his contract, remember that.
And it was important for you to cite the fact that one of Moore's attributes of the head coach comes out only from maturity, is his ability to maintain consistency and keeping the attributes that were the top producing attributes in play.
    M Go Blue 🏈

Here are 11 reasons why Michigan football might face challenges in the 2024 season:
Losing Jim Harbaugh: Harbaugh's departure to the NFL is significant. His leadership and coaching were pivotal in establishing Michigan as a powerhouse, and his absence might disrupt the team's dynamics and performance.
New Head Coach Adjustment: Chiron Moore, while talented, is relatively inexperienced as a head coach. Transitioning to this role involves a steep learning curve which could lead to growing pains for the team.
Coaching Staff Overhaul: Along with Harbaugh, much of the experienced coaching staff has moved on. This overhaul could lead to inconsistencies in coaching strategies and player development.
Loss of Veteran Players: Michigan has lost a significant number of key players to the NFL, leaving gaps that might not be immediately filled by younger, less experienced players.
Inexperienced Offensive Line: Despite a strong historical performance, the offensive line has lost several starters. The new line may struggle against seasoned defenses, particularly in high-stakes games.
Secondary Rebuilding: While the team has brought in transfers to bolster the defensive backfield, integrating these players into a cohesive unit takes time and may result in vulnerabilities, especially against strong passing teams.
High Expectations: The pressure of sustaining a high level of success can be daunting. The expectations for Michigan to continue dominating may weigh heavily on a team experiencing so many changes.
Tougher Conference Competition: With the addition of strong teams like USC and UCLA to the Big Ten, Michigan faces a tougher regular season schedule, which could lead to more losses.
Reliance on Transfers: Relying heavily on transfers can be risky, as it might disrupt team chemistry and cohesion. The adjustment period could lead to early-season struggles.
Special Teams Uncertainty: Changes in special teams coaching could lead to issues in game situations where field position and points from special teams play critical roles.
Quarterback Inexperience: If the starting quarterback is inexperienced or unable to adapt quickly to the starting role, the offensive effectiveness could decrease, impacting game outcomes significantly.

      @scottd1903 3 месяца назад

@KeithElcock-pl9on I'm personally on the warren train after the spring game with orji getting 5 or so snaps a game with options or designed runs. Tuttle never intended to be the starter at Michigan. He transferred because he wants to coach after his playing career and felt Michigan was a better place to learn. Michigan signed him to be sort of a second QB coach and leader in practice, and it never hurts to have a QB with experience on your roster.
I'm 99% sure it's going to be orji or warren. And Tuttle will see little playing time unless they both flame out bad or get injured.

  • @robschaller9061
    @robschaller9061 3 месяца назад +5

Facts are a stubborn thing. Michigan will have a strong defense but you all are DELUSIONAL if you think it is going to be better than last ye-ars defense, because its not going to be. Ohio State will have the nations best defense it had the #2 defense last season and has upgraded the secondary and the DL is as good as anyone else in the co-untry.
The defense of TCUN will keep them in almost every game. The problem is on the otherside of the ball. I don't care how good of a development program you have on the OL the problem with first year starters at all 5 spots can only be solved with time and it is outlandish to expect last years OL to be replaced without a big step back, possibly 2 steps back. Compounding that issue is a 1st year starter with little more than a few mop up snaps. Historically, no matter what program you are talking about those are the ingredients for an multiple loss season. Throw in a completely new staff and you exacerbate everything.
Day was handed a racecar and has experienced growing pains as the natural growth that occurs in being a new HC despite all of the advantages that come with running OSU. Elite national level talent. Moore is in his first year and had to rebuild a staff that Harbaugh GUTTED.
TCUN has a brutal schedule. That first game against Fresno State is going to be a VERY difficult opener for them. Fresno State went 9-4 winning its bowl game last year and they return MUCH of that team. If TCUN starts slow and Fresno State comes out of the gates flying this could go deep into the second half and if Fresno State gets a few breaks or a key turnover late I wouldn't be shocked if TCUN gets upset here. Especially if they fall into the young team trap of one eye on Texas the following week which I suspect will be the case here. Texas is going to drag TCUN by the scruff of their necks and drag them behind the woodshed and absolutely beat the breaks off of TUCN. The score wont really match how well their Defense plays as the TCUN offense repeatedly is unable to sustain drives and untimely turnover eventually release an avolanch of quick scores putting the game out of reach in the 2nd half midway through the 3rd and early 4th quarters. Arkansa State comes to the wolverinees rescue after a disastereous start of the season and TCUN puts up a big score win. The USC game is the domino for the rest of the SEASON for TCUN if they beat USC then they can turn the ship on the correct course and be headed where their fans want to see. If they drop this game its a clear sign that this is not going to be the kind of season they were hoping for and I believe this is the case...
The problem is its tough for a new staff to have a great OL with 5 new starters with almost no game experience (MEANINGFUL PLAY) and to compound that issue with a first year starting QB with almost 0 game reps is trouble almost always. Experience cant be taught anywhere except IN GAMES and it is most effective when it is when the game is still being contested. Nothing you can do replaces that. Not talent, not knowledge of the play not/-hing but actual GAME REPS. Toss in not an ELITE staff that is a total rebuild and I would be STUNNED if they did better than 8-4/9-3

Michigan has proven what they are 3 years in a row, it's up to your team to prove they can change the narrative this season. You should comment a book about what they can do differently this season instead of trying tell is what Michigan wont/can't do this year.

And while you're take on what type of season mich could have this year could pan out @ this point in the year its easy to say what you think could happen with no retort but its just not likely for mich to go 11-1 after that much attrition on both side of the ball and the complete gutting of your coaching staff and program by harbaugh. It's another way to run the ball and pick up 3, 4 yards easily with Orji moving to his left or right for the screen, or simply tucking it in and going for it himself. Who is he screening to? You bet, the best running back in the country with great hands, Donovan Edwards. If you key up on Edwards, Orji runs. If you key up on Orji, he tosses it to Edwards who runs. Michigan only needs to throw deep on occasion and that will be few but Orji surprises there too probably. This is all good for at least a 10-2 season that gets Michigan into the playoffs. Who cares about the championship? It's a new system all together, much like March Madness. Get into the playoffs and go on a run peaking as you go. Don't matter your seed. Look man. I’m not saying Michigan doesn’t have some of the best players in the league at TE, CB, and DL. They don’t have the depth to sustain a potentially 17 game season

what makes you think this? UM Is not Texas A&m buying the number one recruiting class in a given year and then not being able to develop it. u of m has been successful because of their ability to scout players that fit their needs and their program as a whole. then develop those talents.
too many people get hung up on the firestar flashy players, and those players may help you on the outside, but this is football and the game is one of the trenches. I will take 3 to 5 years of development in the weight room and learning complex offensive defense, align schemes and roll those players out year after year like UM has lately , over the likes of USC and as of late under Ryan Day Ohio State. when Ohio state was winning under Urban Meyer they were doing so with nasty offensive defensive lines, not a quarterback throwing the ball over the yard.

@nathanseibold4321 they still doesn't have the depth this year then all those players were there before the nil era. You still have to at least get a few elite players not a bunch out of high school. Players not going to stay 5,6 years anymore.

@@ammielcoats9762My point is, If you go off of a development and fit approach and not a sheer gathering of talent, the star ratings have less weight. Maybe the kid is ready as a junior to compete maybe he isn't ready to contribute until his 5th year but either way he is a man amongst boys if he is going up against a 5 star freshman 90 percent of the time when playing in the trenches. And like I said the game of football is won in the trenches.

What are you taking about? Besides WR their depth everywhere else is good.. it’s not gonna be last years.. that was historically great.. but it’s good.. they are 4 deep at every position but WR.. & they have the best LB duo in the country plus a top 7 RB.. they gonna be just fine.. should dig deeper on player personnel they have

He literally only has 86 rushing yards. He doesn't have Denard speed. I think he'll have a lot of yards though if he doesn't get benched for turning the ball over just bc it's his only skill

No player can replace him that's for sure, but I think the combo of edwards and mullings will be pretty close at matching his production. Mullings is a converted LB that's not only crazy powerful, but has some get up. I think he'll at least be very close to matching corums short yardage and goaline production. An area in which edwards is lacking. But he's more than just a short yardage guy. I'm also excited to see what some of the young players can do and will get a chance to contribute as well.
Long story short, I think as a group their RBs will be phenomenal and be more than adequate at filling the hole left by corum

The defense for Michigan is going to be exhausted…aka, run out of gas against Oregon, and Ohio State since they won’t be able to have lengthy drives on offense, like 2023. They aren’t going to get enough time on the sideline to recover before they have to come back in on defense…just to give up another score.
